One of our dogs chased our one-eyed runt of a black cat (who cannot see very well out of the one eye she has) up a tree at dusk. She made it about 60 feet up? There was no reaching her and she was stuck. No, she would not have been able to climb down on her own. We assessed the situation thoroughly. Do not judge or assume. Anyway, I digress. Our friend got in touch with this company and they were willing to come out with their climbing gear. That night, in a little under two hours, they scooped the little girl up in a pillow case and we got her safely inside. As soon as that happened, my anger dissipated, and I could think clearly again. These guys were down to earth, friendly, funny, and all around decent human beings. They actually cared. They didn't scoff on the phone like the others. No I will not name the others, because these guys are the only ones I want to give my energy and attention to. I will be calling them in the future to have a couple trees taken care of. Having been contacted by multiple "we're in your neighborhood" tree trimmers in the past, I knew that I didn't want to go that route again. With RTEC, I was very impressed by their front office/customer support professionalism and by their consultant-certified arborist (Ben) -- as compared to the other two arborists/tree companies that provided estimates. There was no BS. No upsell. I was provided options and given a very fair risk assessment for the tree given its age and stress. There was regular communication of the services contracted and the work crew that did the work was prompt, courteous, professional, and efficient. When they were done, everything was cleaned up. Outstanding!! RTEC is now the only tree company that I will use in the future. Worth every penny!!!!

However, I called them recently for another estimate and the scheduler asked from her script if I would be getting other quotes. Yes, I always do. What would be the deciding factor? Well. For some reason this line of questioning caught me off guard and I said PRICE. She alerted me that they are typically NOT the cheapest and that maybe it didn't make sense to go through with the estimate. What? WE'VE USED THEM BEFORE. WE HAVE PICKED THEM BEFORE. I don't know. This totally turned me off. So. I canceled the estimate that I insisted on. We won't use them again.
