She was so right! The store is large, clean and very well organized. As a So Cal girl, I was in awe of the snack selections...Little Debbie's, popcorn and pickle flavored chips!!! I didn't have time to go and buy another suitcase for everything I wanted to take home with me. Before buying a gift card from Woodman's, be aware that if the card is accidentally lost, they may not help you recover the information needed to use it. My daughter bought me a $35 Amazon gift card from Woodman's for Mother's Day. Unfortunately, the card was accidentally thrown away because it was still inside the envelope. The very next day, when I went to add the gift card to my Amazon account, we realized the envelope was gone. My daughter contacted Woodman's and was told to contact Amazon. Amazon said they could not help without the gift card serial number, which was not printed on the receipt, and told us to go back to Woodman's. I then called Woodman's with the original receipt and asked if they could help locate the serial number or provide any assistance. They refused to help, even after the issue was escalated to the corporate level. Update: After writing the review, someone from Woodman's did help us out. We appreciate the help. If the people at the store and corporate were as nice, I would have given an excellent experience. I enjoy the variety that Woodman's carries. this place is AMAZING! I was visiting from out of town and strangely could not find a lot of online information about good grocery stores. The postings for Woodman seem to emphasize their massive liquor store and imply that they may have some few groceries attached. To the contrary! Their beautiful grocery store is so large It probably has its own planetary gravity. A few pictures attached - highlights are that they have a really wonderful fresh fruit and vegetable section with exotics that I wasn't expecting, great selections in meat, dairy and helpful, smaller sections with household and even hardware or school/stationary supplies. I lost a gift card in the store, so I decided to ask customer service if any honest people turned it into them. Standing at the customer service desk, three employees were having a discussion about their work schedule instead of servicing myself and another gentleman waiting in line. I had to wave my arms in the air to get their attention and finally one of the employees stepped forward. At that point the attitudes set in with all three of the employees. They made it uncomfortable that I was there and I was wasting their time. These three employees need better training or better yet, stay home. They want nothing to do with customer service. I saw a worker putting some food in a cart and asked why. I was informed that day's before the food even expires they throw it away. Not the day it expires but DAYS BEFORE. First time here, I was re-entering the booze section thinking I could also exit there (where I parked) with my purchased groceries, and older dude coming the opposite way with an empty cart basically lifts and tosses his cart to the side in disgust. Yeah folks, you can say excuse me. Is there a hurricane coming or something?? It took way too much time to find coffee, eggs, butter, and broccoli. I will not be going back to this store again. Your cashier that worked Wednesday morning(4/30/25) at 7:45 by the self checkouts was the rudest woman I ever had to deal with. If she doesn't want to be working & doesn't know how to treat customer THEN SHE SHOULD STAY HOME. You have lost my business. I am going to Pick & Save, where they know how to treat a customer right. Woodman's is like a local Jungle Jim's and I love it! Every Woodman's I have been to is enormous. Ample parking outside, and rows upon rows upon rows of all the food stuffs inside! You will find everything you need here, and then some! We stopped in specifically for cheese curd buying purposes, as well as looking for a specific kind of block cheese. We happily also found all the Jolly Good soda we could want! We thought it was only at Piggly Wiggly, but it turns out Woodman's sells it too! I was also able to knock out all of my New Glarus beer buying in the liquor store area. A literal one-stop shop for all of my Wisconsin food needs! The only negative, and the one I forget every time because I don't live in Wisconsin anymore and only visit Woodman's maybe once a year, is that you can ONLY pay via debit card or Discover (or cash, I suppose). So just keep that in the brain bank and bring the right card to pay. read more

Oh Woodman's Woodman's! This brings back so many childhood memories. I love this store. It's one of the best grocery store chains I have ever visited. Of course, I grew up grocery shopping at Woodman's and so fondly remember the long aisle of so many different selections of ice cream. Woodman's has it all and with great prices too! Generally my go-to grocery story for several reasons, including that they have the best prices on the widest range of organic items in the area and they carry specialty dog treats at significantly lower cost than the boutique pet stores. I don't love that most of the organic produce is individually packaged in plastic; it's wasteful, and sometimes you don't discover that the half of your bell pepper or summer squash that was hidden by a label or the cardboard tray is rotten or moldy until you open it to use it in a recipe. Tonight, I also learned the hard way that if you leave an item behind at the self-check registers and another customer grabs it, you are out of luck. I bought a $10 dog chew, realized when I got home that I'd left it at the register when loading my groceries, and called to ask if they could hold it for me for pickup tomorrow since I live half an hour from the store. The manager used a code on my receipt to look up security camera footage, which showed that I had indeed paid for the item and left it behind; that the next customer to check out at that register had set it aside; and that the customer after that had taken it and put it in with their own stuff. The manager literally watched me pay for the item and leave it there in the store, then cheerfully informed me there was nothing he could do and he hoped my evening got better. Definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth, to the extent that I would probably quit shopping there if there were any better options. read more

This review is very narrow, as I was here for one thing only: beer. Being from Minnesota, there are beers that you can buy in Wisconsin that you cannot in Minnesota. Delicious, wonderful beers. I was in town for work, and on my way out I used Yelp to look for the best place to buy beer. I tried a couple of places, and ended up here. Beer selection = Whoohoo! Service = meh. We shop here often due to proximity. It never fails that every visit, the produce section is filled with rotted fruits and vegetables making it hard to get all the items you need. If you do go home with all your items, it's more than likely it will rot at home within a few days. I like Woodmans overall but this location is terrible. read more

Ahhhh Woodman's. 'Tis a love/hate relationship I share with this place. Since I have been going here since I was a child, it is familiar and they have the best variety and prices around. Their liquor store is well stocked and has a huge selection as well! But, their produce is unremarkable and if you go there on a Sunday evening or night to try and avoid crowds, most of the stock is cleared out like folks are preparing for the Apocalypse. With that said, Woodman's is usually packed, so have time on your hands and patience on the brain if you have big shopping to do. read more

Woodman's, oh my Woodman's. you are a treasure trove or a grocery store. Huge selections of everything, but as a I no longer live in WI, when visiting I stop her for CHEESE. Cheese and Jolly Good Soda sold by the can. They stock my favorite kind of cheese but sometimes it is sold out. Also curds. All the cheese curds. Jolly Good, a locally made soda, is normally stocked here too, and you can buy it by the can. There is plenty of other stuff available too, but that is what I go here for. read more

Woodmans can be overwhelming because of how it's laid out and how huge it really is. But if you need something that you can't find at other stores they always seem to have it. The fact that they have so much is great but the layout of the store needs some updating. The first few times I went there I didn't even know there was more isles running a different way. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! Assis. Manager Brenda was extremely rude, wouldn't let me explain a situation when I called, kept interrupting me. The staff is inconsistent when giving out information. I went to Woodman's once and never returned for reasons I will outline below. But first, the good! PROS: -The store is large for Appleton grocery store standards and you know what that means: lots of options! There are tons of different brands, which is perfect for someone like me who likes to compare the nutrition labels as well as the prices. -The prices are cheaper than the prices I've seen at competitor grocery stores in the area. CONS: -The produce is very "meh." It's definitely not their specialty. -No credit cards. No credit cards?! It's 2013! I almost never carry cash, so having to use cash here is a HUGE inconvenience. Despite all the positive attributes of Woodman's, not accepting credit cards lost my business here. I would consider paying cash at a restaurant that isn't up with the times yet, but for a grocery store to not accept credit cards...it's ridiculous. Sometimes grocery shopping is expensive and you have to go at least a couple times a month. There's no way I'm going to have that much cash sitting around in my wallet to pay for groceries here. If paying in cash or using a debit card doesn't bother you at all, then I honestly highly recommend Woodman's for its prices, selection, and convenient location to the mall. This place is without a doubt the largest grocery selling establishment I have ever happened upon! They Have some short comings for sure... No credit card, just check or debit or cash here... (this kinda sucks for the traveler who likes to earn perks) I was blown away by the selection in most cases, I had a hard time finding ample dry nut selections but I have a feeling I just wasn't finding the whole nut selection, beyond that the selections for the most part were ridiculously diverse... The store boasts employee ownership which gives it an extra star in my book; this is the stark opposite of Walmart for sure! The boyfriend and I made our first trip here to do our Thanksgiving grocery shopping, lured by the prospect of a big selection and better prices than our neighborhood Festival. After navigating the parking lot and finding the door, I looked around for a map, having been warned by my mother than I should not attempt to shop without one. However, the rack that supposed held maps instead only held job applications, so we were map-less. Not a good start. Thus, we stumbled through the store, finding most of what we needed and wishing for traffic lights to navigate the jam-packed aisles. We couldn't find several things on our list, and gave up searching for them, since we did want to leave at some point. Checking out went smoothly enough, though as many reviewers have mentioned, they do NOT take credit cards, so be sure you've got debit or cash on you. We were offered a carry-out service (you drive around and they load up your car), but since we'd passed numerous doors and registers and were afraid we'd never find our groceries again if we left them, we declined and schlepped it all back out into the rain. However, a major plus of Woodman's is the prices. Our cart was piled high (though admittedly no meat or liquor), and our total was much lower than either of us expected. So in this case, I think the savings were worth it, although living in Oshkosh, I would never do any regular shopping here just due to the distance. Honestly, if you live close by and don't mind navigating the crowds, it might be worth it, but for us at least, Woodman's is for big parties only. read more

Great grocery store! I almost exclusively use Woodman's as my store. They have a wide selection and good prices.

Their prices are fantastic, and Woodmans is where I go for my middle-of-the-store stuff. Flour, butter, frozen items, cereal, soup, syrup, etc. (especially if I don't have a coupon, Woodman's is the place to go!) Yeah, the store looks outdated and it's crowded to the point where the lines sometimes are just ridiculous, but this is just what you have to do to pay the prices that Woodmans offers. I personally only go once every six weeks or so, so it's not that big of a deal. Their produce is awful and I won't generally buy it from there; the bananas go straight from green to brown. And I'm not sure about buying fresh meat there, but I will buy prepackaged or frozen or processed meats there. The lighting gives me a headache, so I try my best to get in there and out of there as fast as I can. The parking lot is sometimes a zoo, but that's to be expected. What I like a lot about Woodmans is the variety and selection. Sometimes there are items there that you just can't find anywhere else unless you go to a specialty store. My husband makes a lot of authentic Middle Eastern or Mexican or Italian dishes, because he loves to experiment in the kitchen. We find weird ingredients at Woodmans that we wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. Their service desk people are very nice and understanding if there ever is an issue. Though it can be hard to find somebody in the middle of the store to help you, they will always go digging around up on the top shelves looking for whatever it is that you need. read more
