Needless to say, when I had to get a new dentist in Tallahassee, I was nervous. Thomasville Road Dental has been amazing. They have been so kind and helpful. Since my cleaning in December, I have had bridge prep work done and then had to have an unexpected root canal. Dr Callaway saw me when Dr Carter was out and helped me with pain management. They got me in as soon as they possibly could and they never got impatient with my daily call or the fact that I had a tricky root canal. Katie and Mike, two dental assistants, have been amazing too. I really love this place and feel like I can trust them. Note: when my daughter had her cleaning I was there too. They did mention sealants and other products but I just told them what we would do and no to the rest. I never felt pressured to do anything. They asked and I answered, end of story. My old dentist did the same thing. When there was a mistake, it was rectified immediately and without any arguments or questions. These are good people and o would definitely recommend them.

However, I find Dr.Close to be very good at what he does, has a real talent for dentistry. He runs a tight ship and does not sugar coat when it comes down to your dental health. The staff, sure can be a little edgy when overwhelmed, but have been very accommodating to appointment changes and preferences, as long as you do at least a day in advanced. My family has been seeing him for over 10 years now and wouldn't have it anywhere else.

A patient of nearly a decade, I just tried to book a routine cleaning and said that I didn't need…read morean exam or x-ray. The former was not needed because I wanted an appointment as soon as possible and presumably not seeing a dentist could expedite scheduling; the latter was not needed because I am actively trying to become pregnant. The office told me that I would not be able to have a cleaning without an x-ray because "the law" requires that dental patients get x-rays at mandated intervals. I have researched all Florida statutes and regulations concerning dentistry: There is no such law. Apart from this lie, the office also informed me that pregnant women were fine to get x-rays which cause less radiation than "going outside." While I don't have data on that point, surely that cannot be the case. Moreover, it's worth mentioning that the one time I did have an issue, it could have been diagnosed with the x-ray Dr. Bailey performed. She, however, apparently didn't review the x-ray.

Secondly, understand your insurance benefits and pay close attention to your EOBs. I discovered that I was being consistently overcharged and when I spoke with the office manager to elicit her insight and reconciliation, my questions and concerns were met with animosity and, ultimately, I was discharged as a patient.
