I had a defective floor that Hamernicks had installed…read more First they would not help me until the builder of my home paid a delinquent bill, that had nothing to do with my floor. This took about a month. Then they said they filed a claim with the Manufacturer. Two months later told me that they mistakenly had not filed the claim. Once all this was done. They gave me an estimate and then said they had made a mistake and raised the price $1100. I contacted their CEO and made her aware of the problem. Never heard back, so my fear is that their lack of concern for their customer starts at the very top. My opinion is if you are looking for an efficient, accurate and customer focused company. Pass on this one.

Very poor support during hardwood refinishing process…read more Initial refinishing was done with us out of town with no prior consultation on stain color and not even a mention of what finish we wanted (oil was selected for us without asking). They were gracious enough to redo but second experience was just as bad. I expressed a lot of concerns with making sure we were confident on stain and finish before proceeding. Leading up to redo I was told I had white oak floors (which was incorrect and misled our decision making) and had a in person consultation appointment essentially deemed a waste of time by Phil and cancelled. When it came time to redo floors, I received a call from Phil the night of sanding that demanded I make a decision on stain/finish choice right away so they could move on to another job, despite not all stain/finish options having even been applied yet (they forgot to bring water based options). The next day more samples were put down but I had little time to decide, or see how they looked in different lighting conditions which was an explicit request I had prior to the rework being done. I was also mistakenly told that the floor look I was trying to achieve (my previous floors before all of this) was an oil based finish which I later found out was water based instead. Now after sanding my floors twice I'm stuck with a look that is even worse than before and not what I was trying to achieve. This has been the worst experience I've ever had with a company and the lack of support during the entire refinishing process, especially by the owner Phil during the remedy process, is something I hope nobody else has to go through. I wish I would've went with another company, even if meant paying for the work twice, if it allowed for better support and more time to decide on stain and finish.

That alone should let you know how we feel about their superior work and professionalism. For this project we wanted to install hardwood floors in our living room and upstairs landing. We just wanted to tie all the rooms together since Dave's did another job about a year ago. Everything is simple from the quote, demolition, installation and sanding to the finish. Communication is great and you always know where they are in the progress. Absolutely no surprises is the 3 times we have used them. Kelly did our second job and we requested him to do this job too. He is the absolute best. A perfectionist and super cool guy. Another awesome job by Dave's Flooring and the only flooring company I recommend to my friends.

I paid for 3 coats of poly and an additional "radcoat" supposedly to make the floors more durable…read more They sanded down the middle, did not do the corners or edges at all. After I complained they scraped off the poly and somewhat fixed the corners. Not great, but better. Applied one more coat and then the final coat so I got one less coat then I paid for. First time they left the doors unlocked, second time they left them not only unlocked but wide open in sub zero weather. The house was vacant so I guess they thought that was ok. When I asked them about it they said it was hard to lock old doors and hard to make old floors look good. I thought that was what they did? It was a 1940's house so not ancient. They have every excuse in the book ready when you call to complain. Not the same floor company I used to get for all my rehabs. Very sub par work which it appears to be from a variety of sub contractors. Sad that what was once a good business is now just a scam operation cutting corners whenever they can. Check all reviews - wish I had.

After a few months of planning, watching Youtube videos on installing wood floors and trying to convince my wife, cooler heads prevailed. So I sucked up my pride and called in the three top recommended Flooring companies in Minneapolis. Our job was a little unique (in my mind), because it involved replacing some cherry wood boards in the high traffic zones and sanding and refinishing the floors in the low traffic areas. I received three quotes as well as did quite a bit of research online and with friends. One friend went through a big box store and in my mind didn't quite get the deal I was looking for. The best quote and most straight forward contractor was a guy from Rhodes Hardwood named Dusty. I trust contractors about as far as I can throw them, which at last attempt was halfway across a job site. However, Dusty seemed honest and straight forward. The wife and I both felt like he wasn't trying to sell us on a larger job scope, but he was more than willing to stay inside the budget and requests. We didn't want to redo the whole house, and he didn't pressure us to do so. We ended up sanding and refinishing more than I expected just to get a great blended look, and the work looked great and we were able to keep more floor than expected. I included a picture of the transitional zone. He even told us "he wasn't going to charge extra for the extra work." Although I wish I could say that I was man enough to refinish my old wood floors like an HGTV pro, I suppose a guy with a happy wife is even more of a star.

The did an excellent job and completely changed the look of my house. My wife and I are elated with our second floor now. I really appreciated the online estimate calculator on their website as well as the ability to email pictures and dimensions for more accurate estimations rather than scheduling an in-home estimate. I performed some prep work myself (removing prior floor coverings and baseboard trim) which helped save a bit of money. The job cost a little less than I thought it would and in my opinion was an excellent value. I highly recommend these guys.

Herman Hardwood did a very poor job on my floor. They actually agreed that the job was…read moresub-standard and attempted to correct their work. Application mistakes were the primary problem that ranged from visible sponge marks, pooled-up polyurethane coating and objects poly'd into the floor surface. When I asked them to remove the rag fibers, hairs and bugs from the poly coating, it appears they used sandpaper to take out the objects, and did not re-coat the floor. The company now refuses to 'make it right' on this job. After asking for the pooled poly coat to be addressed, and the sandpaper marks--my phone calls and emails have been ignored. Be cautious if you hire this Company for hardwood restoration.

Then they stripped and refinished my worn and warped floors, added an oak inlay between two rooms, pulled hundreds of nails from my stair treads and refinished them, as well. The results were exceptional, gorgeous floors that I enjoy every time I walk on them. What's more, Nick, Alex, and their staff were punctual, courteous, respectful of me and one another, and kind to my dogs. I would have hired them to refinish all my floors, but I had already purchased a discount coupon with another company. The other company, however, tried to sell me a much cheaper floor finish to hide the damage, which made me realize how much I trusted Nick and Alex. I called them, explained the other contractor's feedback, and asked for their advice. Ultimately, I hired them a third time to do the remaining floors in my house. They're upstairs right now, refinishing the floors that another contractor explained were too warped to repair. (They weren't by the way! They look beautiful.) In the home restoration and remodeling fields, peace of mind is so rare, but I have that with Herman Hardwood Restoration. As a female homeowner who has taken advantage of more times than I care to admit, I feel so fortunate to have a flooring company that I can trust in my home and with my pets. I'm giving…read moreone star because the owner, Chad, cost me a significant and entirely preventable 30% budget overrun -- and he did it after I gave him multiple chances to get it right. Here's what happened: Chad visited our home three times before we signed. On his second visit, I pointed out that the subfloors were in rough shape and asked directly whether I should repair them. He told me not to worry about it. The weekend before installation, I sent him a video of the floors and said I was thinking about going to Menard's to pick up 1/4" plywood to cover the entire main floor. He called me and told me not to do that -- said it would be a waste of time and money. Monday morning, his installers walked in, looked at the subfloor, and immediately said it was in awful shape. Their recommendation? Go to Menard's and get 1/4" plywood to cover the whole floor. Exactly what I had proposed. They charged $25 per sheet of plywood plus $40 per sheet to install it. When it came time to settle up, I wrote two checks -- one for the agreed amount plus half the overrun, and a second check for the other half, with a note to Chad that he should only cash it if he felt it was fair for me to absorb the full cost of a problem he had twice told me wasn't a problem. He cashed both. I don't know if Chad was inattentive, undertrained, or simply not honest with me. What I do know is that the owner of a flooring company should be able to assess a subfloor. I flagged the issue twice -- once in person, once on video -- and was turned away both times. If you're considering Third Coast, insist on a written subfloor assessment before you sign anything, and get any scope-of-work promises in writing.

They cleaned everything up after including mopping the floors. All debris hauled away. I had luxury vinyl plank flooring put in along with carpet and tile. Highly recommend them. Their prices are also very reasonable
