We were taken advantage of including paying for work that was never done and were told it was, hurried work that required rework multiple times, schedule slippage by multiple weeks causing us to incur additional costs and rescheduling subsequent contractors. John discussed making things right, however we were well past the point of allowing for this to continue and paid for a different contractor to finish the remaining rework. After asking a number of friends for recommendations I still wasn't satisfied with the list of floor installers and companies we had narrowed down. I did a little more on-line searching and stumbled onto UB Flooring close to me in Plymouth. I read their on-line reviews and found good and bad, but they worked with the bad to make things right and decided to dig deeper. Their storefront isn't fancy, but the store included samples of everything I wanted to see. Being frugal myself (), I like to see companies being smart where they spend their own money - on their product and skilled employees. We left the showroom with samples to review at home, narrowing down our choices enough to ask for a quote. The quote was reasonable so we decided to set the date to have new floor added and old wood refinished. We discussed the quote, Sam answered all of our questions and we decided to put half down to buy materials and hold our spot. We picked a date 3 months out so the floors could be done when we were scheduled to be out of town. They brought in the bundles of flooring a few days before installation to acclimate it to our house and floor. The processes of lacing in new flooring, installing, sanding, staining and finishing could not have gone any better. Tomorrow they will be adding the finish coat and our floor journey will be complete. Communication has been stellar every step of the way, and they could not have been more clear with their questions, answers, guidance and suggestions. She stated the person who would install it had to come out in person to our house and agree to do the installation. I explained I had talked to the installer on the phone and he instructed me to call Bob's Binding to get things measured. She refused to schedule anything. I called the installer, who told me who to ask for when I called back. I waiteda week and called Bob's Binding again and got the same woman. She refused to let me talk to the person I asked for and went down the same path. This time I lied and said the installer had been out to our house in person and we had a straight staircase (she had previously acted like they don't help if you have a landing or turn in the steps). Finally got an appointment and Nate came out to measure. He was awesome! Very nice and knew what he was doing. Then we waited and waited and never heard anything from Bob's again. I finally sent an email asking about our order and it was all done but apparently they were never going to let me know. With the exception of Nate, it was not a good experience and the woman answering the phone was really rude.

Josh was our salesperson, and was tireless, knowledgeable, and patient in working out different options and educating us about the pros and cons. We did some comparison shopping. BCO's good pricing, their responsiveness and promptness, and them doing their own work (not subcontracting) were compelling, so we went with them. After we ordered the work, BCO was able to put the job on schedule within days. The BCO installers accidentally installed the vinyl plank in the wrong area. This error also led to some other issues. When BCO realized this, it immediately acknowledged its error and responsibility, and worked to correct as soon as it could. The BCO installers were back the next day to start addressing the issues, and Eric and another employee even visited the job after their workdays, just to evaluate and determine solutions. Matt (general manager) got involved at the end to make sure that we were satisfied with the resolution. (We were!) However careful a company is, some type of error will happen sometime to that company - that's a fact of life. How the company - and the people at the company - respond sets the great ones apart. And Bloomington Carpet One, through its actions and the actions of its employees, clearly distinguishes itself as a great company!
