This is the only place in the Western Hemisphere that meets these conditions monthly, and you will see lots of other Moonbow chasers during that period. The park is stunning anyway, with dramatic boulders and loads of gorgeous hiking. Not to mention, the area borders on the Daniel Boone National Forest, so there are arches and vistas all around. Currently, DuPont Lodge is closed for renovation within the park, however the Woodland Cottages (where I stayed), cabins, and campgrounds are good to go!

It's quite a walk down the pier to the store and restaurant. There are cabins on other side of marina from Rv sites. Plenty of ramps to put boat in water. There is not a lot of signage where to go so got to ask many questions instead of someone explaining things to you. Prices are cheap right now. Average of $29 per night.

With several campground options in the Lake Cumberland area, I think I found my favorite…read more Initially, I had planned on staying at Falls Creek Camp Ground which was just a few miles up the road, but after I discovered Conley Bottom was almost the same rate AND CB has full hookups, I made a last minute route here. When we pulled in, it was about to storm and almost dark. We were greeted at the store which was apparently closed. The gentleman explained that he would just come by in the morning to collect the due. He also said that there isn't any pre-booking available, everything is walk up only. Right now the rate in the first RV area is $24 per night. The rate increases for the season on 5/20/17. The second area RV section doesn't include sewer hook ups and is $4 cheaper. The second area is where the playground and dock access that leads to the marina is and seemed to currently be more popular than the first area. The views from both sections overlook the marina and beautifully picturesque. They have several large, pull through sites. We stayed in site L which was the closest one to the lake. None of the sites have lake access, but the marina is within a few minutes walk. A very important and possible deal breaker for anyone concerned about the drive there is that it is a narrow road and if you're heading in late when the boats are headed home, they take up most of the road and you practically have to pull off to allow them to pass.

It's my favorite campground when I'm looking for seclusion. It seems like you're hours from the city, but it's just about an hour and a half from Lexington and 20 minutes or so from the interstate. The Grove is it's sister property, so if there isn't spots available here, there may be some at The Grove. Loops D & H are available via reservation, the other loops are walk up. This time we stayed in loop G area... G2 was our site and through the trees, you could see the lake. The paved pad was long and then there were steps that led to the huge graveled fire pit area. Perfect for tent camping. It wasn't considered a premium or double site, but compared to state resort park sites, it was at least twice as big. The shower house was decent. The water cold and the fact that the water on the shower was controlled by a button that you had to push every 30 seconds, was a bit annoying. I was thankful for hand soap and toilet paper though. The lady at check-in was a hot mess. She kept answering her cell phone and the landline phone instead of waiting on us. She didn't know which sites were lake side and wouldn't let us pay, look to choose a site, drop off and come back. She made us tow the camper down the narrow paths, choose a spot and then come back to pay with the camper in tow. Then it took her at least 10 minutes to write up the ticket, etc. After a 45 minute fiasco, we finally set up in the dark. Lesson learned... Remember what site # that you want, if you've not been there, study the map before you go. Things to consider are if you want to be by the lake, the shower house, or away from other sites. It's an American Land and Leisure run campground. I can't really figure out the ins and outs of the structurally run campgrounds... I've stayed at the Cor of Engineer, state park and KOA campgrounds. The American Land and Leisure campgrounds and sites seem to be the biggest and the most inexpensive.

Amazing park, pretty big and with tons of running trails. Perfect for bikes and walking, golf course seems pretty good also. Have this small office with a park ranger there where I suppose that there´s some one to give you information. Free entrance and the road is really easy to drive, no difficult to get there. I can´t tell if you can camp there, because like I said, there was no one around to ask. Anyways, was lovely to see that there are this kind of parks and really there are a lot of parks around here in KY! Safe travels!!

I found this place months ago and my initial plans in February fell through, so on July 3rd as I planned a work related adventure in the area, I remembered this place. I called pretty much at the last minute and was welcomed by Michelle. She isn't actually onsite but met us a few miles away (not because we were lost or anything). I will admit, I'm extremely picky when it comes to hotels and resorts, so I was worried and didn't want to commit before checking it out. Michelle was extremely gracious and showed us around the entire house. It passed the test and I chose the "Lakeside" room. The room had it's own bathroom, and was immaculate. It was the only room in the inn with a private patio. When we first arrived it was loud because it overlooks the lake and it was a busy weekend. The view... why do we travel out of state when we have so much beauty within Kentucky?! The bad news: it's on the market for sale... If you have $775,000 and decide to buy this place, hit me up because I'd love to stay here again. The owner, Mr. Noble was a bit unwelcoming at first, as Michelle was showing us around. I guess that's what he pays her for anyway. As he sat in the living room, watching The History Channel on the community tv, my talkative husband got him to open up and he explained that this was Mrs. Noble's dream and she passed away five years ago. They built the 8,000 square ft home ten years ago. Breakfast was prepared by Michelle and we ate in a community setting, there was only one other couple and Mr. Noble. I don't mind the shared seating because I cruise a lot and that's the norm on a cruise. But if you don't like that, a B&B probably isn't for you. I don't think that I would've enjoyed it as much if the house were full to capacity. Check out was at 11:00 and they were expecting a full house in the 4th. The price was a bit steep, over double the rate that I was quoted in February. I think that if they were to lower the rate on non holidays and weekdays, I bet they would get more visitors. All in all, it's a great getaway with an awesome view.

However there were a few problems, First off, this isn't a regular resort, it's more like a AirBnB in a community. There are people who actually live at the houses on this street and when my family went to check out the "private deck" on the back of our "cottage", a woman from next door questioned them on why they were there and if they could read the private sign because it's private property. Next, the beds are insanely uncomfortable including the pull out couch (which i understand is hard to fix) i've never had a worse two nights of sleep in my life. The pictures make it look like you're right next to the pool however you have to walk down the street in this neighborhood and then down a very steep hill to get there, then the people who live in this neighborhood will question why you're using the pool and where you're staying. I don't mind neighbors on vacation but this is more like an AirBNB with shared space than a private resort which is how it's advertised. Finally and most importantly (in my opinion) , the owner of the "resort" is insanely rude. We called questioning where our "cottage" was because it was not clear that it was connected to the office , and were met with an attitude and a condescending tone. Based on other reviews, I can tell this isn't a lone incident and the owner is truly that rude to possibly every guest he books. Overall, we had a good time but may not return due to these issues.

Thanks to having a washer & dryer in the room, I saved the $20 I would have normally spent on coin laundry, with more convenience, & saved $200 by cooking some of our meals in the room. The only thing that stopped a five-star review (which I rarely give) is not having enough of the supplies they said they provided. We only had one wash cloth, no trash bags/kitchen rag/towel/baking pan & had to run out for tissue & paper towels. A broom & dust pan could be mounted on the closet door for easy cleanup. We still had a much better experience than we would have had in a hotel. The positives outweighed the negatives immensely, so I'd happily stay here again & again.

There is one queen bed and a pull out couch. Some of the amenities in the suite include free wifi, air conditioning (that works great), a washer and dryer (bring your own laundry detergent) and several kitchen appliances including a full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, oven, toaster and stove. There is not a main hotel office, but prior to arriving, the hotel sends you a code to get into your room. The process was extremely easy! For the price ($125ish/night) in Jamestown, I'd definitely recommend this hotel!
