Della Vecchia Funeral Home

Della Vecchia Funeral Home

On the day before the funeral, he told us that Sherri Sciola would be the funeral director on sit. The mass was scheduled for 9:00AM at St. Dominic Church. My wife and I arrived at 8:25. There was a man from Della Vecchia standing at the entrance of the driveway who waived us in. I am handicapped and parked in the handicap space. After I entered the Church, he deceased in my mom and I would be going to the cemetery. He gave me a yellow cardboard flier to be hung on my rearview mirror and told me to move my car in line behind the hearse. Mind you, it was raining and snowing outside. After we returned inside the Church, my wife put her coat in the front pew. Sherri tapped her and said that she could not leave her coat there as that pew was only for family. My wife explained that she was family and I'm not sure why Sherri made the assumption that she was not. Sherri was not polite at all. After the funeral, I was supposed to walk down the aisle on my dad's right. Sherri grabbed his arm and marched him down the aisle as if she were family. It was awkward for all. After mass, in the vestibule, friends and relatives were offering family members their love and condolences. After the loved ones expressed their condolences, two of my four brothers and I exited the Church, only to realize that the procession to the cemetery left without us, even though my car was the second car behind the hearse! My brothers were not told to park behind the hears, so they had to walk a distance to find their cars. Many others, intending to go to the cemetery, as they had the yellow hangers, were also left behind. I caught up to the procession and was about the 40th car to enter the cemetery. Getting to the grave was difficult because the weather was inclement and I was parked to far away. I did not know where my brothers were. At the grave, I informed Sherri that the parking at the Church was disorganized and that she left without my brothers and me. I explained that my brothers had not arrived and we needed to wait for them. She rudely replied that she made an announcement for mourners to go to their cars at Church and many people ignored her so she left without them. No remorse and no apology. I had to anxiously wait to monitor to make sure the graveside service did not start without my brothers. Sherri made the experience of burying my mother unpleasant and needlessly stressful. I would strongly advise against her directing anyone's funeral.

As professionals entrusted with arranging a memorial service for a young person in our care, we were searching for a funeral home that would treat this child (and everyone involved) with dignity, compassion, and respect. From the moment we walked into Prospect Memorial, we knew we had found exactly that. Kim welcomed us into a private space where we could gather our thoughts and discuss every detail without feeling rushed. She has a remarkable ability to make people feel seen and supported during unimaginable circumstances. Throughout the entire planning process, she met us with patience, kindness, and genuine empathy. We later learned that Kim's background as a nurse has clearly shaped the way she cares for families. Her compassion extends far beyond logistics. She thoughtfully guided us through decisions we never wanted to have to make, offering recommendations that honored this child's unique life and circumstances, including helping us find an appropriate cemetery and coordinating beautiful floral arrangements. What I'll remember most is the way Kim cared not only for the child we were honoring, but also for those of us carrying the responsibility of planning the service. She repeatedly reminded my colleagues and me that our hearts were in the right place and that our efforts mattered. Those words may seem small, but during an incredibly heavy time, they meant more than I can express. The service itself was beautiful. The funeral home is immaculate, modern, and thoughtfully designed, creating a peaceful environment for remembrance. Every member of the staff was attentive, respectful, and quietly ensured that everything unfolded seamlessly. They allowed us to focus on honoring this young life instead of worrying about the countless details behind the scenes. I sincerely hope I never find myself in a position where I need to plan another child's funeral. But if I ever need funeral services for a loved one, personally or professionally, I would not hesitate to return to Prospect Memorial. Kim and her entire team provided extraordinary care during one of the most difficult moments imaginable, and I will always be grateful for the compassion they showed to everyone involved. I hope this review conveys even a fraction of the gratitude we feel toward Kim and her team. They helped make an impossible task just a little more bearable, and that is something I'll never forget.

The interior and setup of the service was very sloppy. Wasn't impressed at all! For a "supposedly" well knew name in Prospect Connecticut...I see it as a name doesn't mean nothing if the service isn't there. Would never recommend this funeral home for someone loved one.

From the second you walk in as a guest the staff here is waiting with open arms to make this experience as easy and stress-less as possible. I believe he is one of the owners, but Ryan has personally helped a great deal with all arrangements and made these sad days a little less hard on everyone with how much help he has been. Just wanted to leave a review and thank the amazing staff at the DuPont Funeral Home for all the work they do. It was in the fall so they could not guarantee it would be done that year due to it getting colder but it would be done the following year. Since I live out of state I asked for them to call me when it was completed and they took down my information and wrote a note to call me. Fast forward to early next summer and I haven't heard anything. I emailed multiple times and called but no one responded to my emails or answered the phone. When I was in Connecticut visiting I had to go to the cemetery to check and see if the engraving was done and it was, but no one from Ciarlo had let me know like they were supposed to. That being said, the engraving looks great. My interaction with them in-house when I paid for the engraving was nothing over the top. Just basic interaction. If you're looking for above and beyond I would go elsewhere.
