Took a quick staycation to Dunedin and this was my favorite brewery. The camp theme is super cute- mostly hung out inside with a/c but couldn't resist the tented picnic tables. This is one of my favorite brewing companies in Dunedin. Yes the wood works are beautiful. But the beer is the best. This is a true German style brewery. You can sit outside or inside at a table or bar. The service is excellent and very knowledgeable. My wife likes the Hefeweizen beer and I'm a Dunkel (dark) guy. I had the smoked dunkelweizen that was amazing. The beer here has lots of flavor from the hops. This brewery is about quality not quantity. This is a must for real beer drinkers. read more

This is such a fun place, went Saturday afternoon (09/20/25). They were celebrating Oktoberfest, authentic beer in steins ( which you could purchase $20.) after of course finishing up your liter of beer. Trade in that 1 and get a clean one. This establishment has 3 areas small bar as you walk in , then a replica of a beer hall ( picnic tables/ stage) and out the door a outside bier garden ( that's where the food is). The food is good had the wurst with the cheese spatzel ( German noodle) with a tasty cheese on it. Very good very filling. Also no Oktoberfest is complete until you have the large pretzel mustard and/or cheese. The prices are very reasonable. The food is self serving, order it then they give you a buzzer ( fyi) . The entertainment is awesome, it's really a very fun experience. Woodwright Brewing has been around for a while and locally owned / operated.... YAA Although I just discovered it in Dunedin off the Pinellas trail. Hours are limited so check their website. Oktoberfest festivities will be the next week or 2. Kudos to the staff and owner.. In my humble opinion, this is the best brewery in the whole of the Tampa Bay area! (and yes, I've been to Cigar City, 3 Daughters, Coppertail, Big Storm, TBBC, and about 40 others). From top to bottom, Woodwright is 5 stars. The brewery itself it set in a wood-working shop with a small upstairs seating area and a long bar top that is typically full of patrons. The bartenders are friendly and playful and the selection of ales is perfect. Woodwright has the best Red Ale I've ever tasted, and I am a huge fan of their strong golden and dark belgian. There is an extensive outdoor seating area complete with a fire pit, a dozen lit Christmas trees over the holiday season, and a bluegrass band on Thursday night. There is also a built in food truck with some really delicious grub. Only drawback is that children are not allowed anywhere on the premises, even outside listening to the music. read more

Cozy brewery with woodworking aesthetic. We've hosted a birthday on the second floor years ago. They've got an eatery on site--a sort of food truck type deal. The line was crazy long during the holidays but that's expected. Lovely service, chill customers, dogs everywhere but they make it clear no children or minors allowed which is a downside for me (I have children) but I understand. I have never had dinner at woodwright, so I can't tell you how the food is. As for the beer, I would rank them the third best lager bier brewers within a reasonable distance of the Tampa Bay area (Barriehaus, Tampa, and Tidal, Brooksville, are the other two, in order). Let's talk a little bit about the place. Woodwright started as a woodworker's shop, thus the name. Today, it is still, but would only be a woodworkers shop if his wife never stated her desire to brew beer. Viola. One thing that should be noted here is, while the place is family friendly, the irresponsible parents that normally let their kids run amok should keep their eyes open to avoid having a kid head back into the wood shop. No, it is not super dangerous, but my God man, don't let your kids be a nuissance (btw, I think this should apply to all breweries and will call you a jerkwad poopy face behind your back if you do it elsewhere. You have been warned. LOL) The owner was behind the bar with the bartender when I went in, so I got ample time to talk about the brews. Very traditional German and I am sure they adhere to the German purity law (i.e., beer is made of water, malt, hops, and yeast only). Very tasty beer flavored beer. I was really excited to finally visit Woodwright Brewing Company after seeing great reviews on social media and confirming online that it was kid-friendly. We came with our two young children, and the atmosphere itself was adorable--very cozy and festive, which made the experience even more disappointing. When we arrived, we noticed a sign outside saying "18 and over," which already felt confusing for a brewery. However, we saw multiple families inside with infants and toddlers, so we assumed children were allowed as long as they were supervised. Our kids were calm--my husband was holding our baby, and our four-year-old was holding my hand. Within a minute of entering, an employee told us we had to leave because children weren't allowed. When I pointed out that there were other children inside, he then explained that kids must be held or in a stroller--but instead of explaining that calmly from the start or giving us the option to comply, we were simply told to leave. That lack of clarity and flexibility was frustrating and embarrassing. If there's a specific policy, it should be clearly stated online and communicated respectfully at the door--especially when other families are already inside. Unfortunately, the way this was handled completely overshadowed what could have been a great first visit. We won't be returning. If anyone's looking for a family friendly brewery, I highly recommend the Dunedin brewery next door read more

Came here today while visiting Dunedin. It was a great brewery with a great staff atmosphere and selection of beer. It was my favorite stop of the day. The have indoor and outdoor seating area and had an entire area set up for October Fest. The staff were friendly and helpful with selecting a brew and while I was only here for one beer I would totally come back here again. The Ambiance here was very warm and friendly. read more

I love the entertainment and just the vibe of the place. Of note, if you are hungry. They don't serve food but there is an outdoor food truck. The brewery is actually good. Unfortunately they now offer German cuisine... sounds awesome, right? Well, we placed an order... 1 Bavarian pretzel with beer cheese. 1 order Cheese Spaetzle & 2 Schnitzel plates. The dinners were to come with "German slaw & German potato salad. Our total was $58. The pretzel was large & delicious. The spaetzle was shell noodles covered in beer cheese.... Not very good. It was ok but nothing as expected. The pork for the dinner was good however they do not offer gravy for it. The slaw... I have no clue what that was. It looked like someone spilled a jar of caraway seed into the center. The potato salad was so sweet it was not edible. The dinners were put in paper boxes. The one box was so soggy we had to remove it from the box to prevent a huge mess. Overall we ate the pork schnitzel & the Bavarian pretzel. The spaetzle we ate half of it. It was really not good & left a bad aftertaste. I would definitely not recommend ordering dinners from here. It's overpriced & barely edible. I'm attaching photos for you to see what they serve... don't waste your money. That was $60 in the trash. read more

Woodwright is the cutest little brewery in all of Dunedin. So picturesque and quaint. We could have sat out there all day. On a birthday brewery tour one Saturday, we hit up this spot and couldn't be more happy with our decision! Bonus! They had a few wonderful non-alcoholic selections, which was awesome for me (considering I'm 8 months pregnant). They also had an eatery with some awesome German snack food on campus. Always been a fan of this brewery! Such a unique theme and beautiful setting for a brewery. Outside has covered seating and a food trailer. Inside you will feel like you're stepping into someone's wood shop that also feels cozy and homey. The brewery has expanded their beer over the years and you can get anything from a Hefeweizen to a porter to a black IPA. They have an upstairs and downstairs seating area. Next door is an event space wnd they constantly have events going on. We will continue to visit, and encourage others to do so when they're in the area! read more

Out of all the Dunedin breweries, I finally got a chance to go to this one. Previously they were always closed when I would be in the area. They have a great outdoor area when you are walking up to the building with an extra little building with a kitchen to cook up some food if you're hungry. Inside is very rustic and as you could guess, all wood pretty much. Very much a man's spot. It is pretty small inside and Ben said that he has been there when it was wall to wall people, luckily, we were there early in the day so that was not the case, that's too much for me because I like to relax at breweries and not be crowded. Ben loves this place of course, and I can see why. They have his style beers but as far as me, it honestly wasn't my kinda place due to the beer selection that was there at the time. I am more of a sour/cider/berliner weisse fan and when at a brewery, I like to have their beers vs guest taps. Of course, I'll go back for another visit and check out their selection again. Service was friendly and they had a full bar for it being early already! We had Belgian Blonde, New England Hazy IPA, Irish Red and the collab with Tidal - Zwickelier. read more

Let's just start this the way I'd end it...this is my favorite brewery in Dunedin. Period. As for the details...it comes down to a few basics: - Service was stellar. The guy at the bar was helpful and super friendly - The interior is beautiful and very comfortable. Plenty of diverse seating options including a quaint upstairs area to "get away" - Pet-friendly in the most inviting way. Just welcoming. This is very important if you care about such things - And then there was the beer. I'm not about reviewing beer because it's all about taste, but overall, the quality was high. The German beers were true, with the smoked one being just slightly that and very good. The Hazy and the IPA were great and the Amber was good. One last point, the music was excellent. Other breweries (especially in this area) seem to allow the people working the bar to play whatever they like and as loud as they like. Let's be clear here, we're not in your basement with your friends having a cold one with you. And I'm not here to be converted to whatever music you think it super rad. I'm here to try the beer. This is a business where I assume the owner wants to appeal to many different people. The music here might not appeal to everyone but I suspect it won't turn people away. read more

Why 4 stars? Because I love German beer. --- --- --- I remember when I heard about Woodwright opening up and I wanted to visit right away. Unfortunately, I was about five years late. But it's not often I find myself in Dunedin, especially under circumstances where I can visit a brewery. Our friend was celebrating her birthday, so we met her and a bunch of others there. We had our two year old with us from other errands we'd been running, which I don't recommend. But I'll come back to that. As for the beer... As a brewery specializing in German brews, it should be no surprise that the Hefeweizen was my favorite in my flight. I also ordered a dunkel, a winter ale and a German alt that I thought were all solid. The guy pouring beers was quite friendly, so that side of the story was a pleasant one. For the other side of the story, I want to preface by saying that I'm not changing my star rating based on this, because I hate seeing people do this to businesses during such a weird time, but will admit that it was quite annoying. As most people are aware, two years are not great at sitting still. Ours tended to hop up on a whim and just wander in the courtyard several times, while I was ordering my drinks. When I came back, my wife told me that a guy yelled at her multiple times to put on her mask while standing. And yes, the courtyard is outside. And it was 90 degrees out. Woodwright is a private company and has the ability to require everyone to wear pink hats if they so please. But barking at customers who are standing in a courtyard to put on a mask is just silly. People can sit at a table, share beers, talk, laugh and yell for hours and it's fine. But if you stand up and walk 5 feet from your table, you have to wear a mask? Science! Woodwright - I'd happily visit you again for your beer, but not until this policy changes. read more
