This was one of a few stops on a brewery day with some friends. Everyone else in the crew had been here before, and they all really enjoy it. I got one of the lagers, and it was great! This place is pretty cool inside just to begin with. They like to get festive with whatever the current season is. Multiple times i have been there i have only seen one dude behind the bar busting his butt talking to and keeping everyone topped off. They had had some unique flavors of beers that tasted great and the pricing was not bad. One thing of note i thought was cool is their bathroom is on a different level ( about 2 steps up ) but they had a handicap elevator to get up there. While I prefer the ambiance and vibe of Woodwright, Caledonia has the best tap list of brews of any brewery in Dunedin (in my opinion, better than any in the Bay area). The belgian dubbel and tripel are both fantastic, and if you're looking for a great IPA, Modern Love or the Spruce Tip IPA are both top notch. The setting is an old newspaper printer (that's what I've been told) and the bartenders are always friendly and helpful. read more

On a birthday brewery tour one Saturday, we hit up this spot and loved the Scottish vibes. They had a few non-alcoholic selections, which was awesome for me (considering I'm 8 months pregnant). They had a large selection of Scotch ales and Scottish beers as would make sense given the decor. Hubby opted for the red ale and loved it. I had some mother kombucha. They have board games and a very large indoor space which is good for a larger party size. Outdoor seating is limited for their location. But a nice brewery overall! Caledonia stands as an enjoyable brewery in the Tampa-St. Pete area, especially within the close-knit community of Dunedin that comprises a number of different breweries. The evening we came to Caledonia was on a Saturday, comprised of very spirited vibes and brews by other patrons, which enhanced the experience of patronizing this establishment. The building where Caledona is located on Main Street used to the home of the old Dunedin Times back in the day. You can definitely feel the history when you walk into the building and tell what the original use was -- especially for someone who majored in journalism and contributed to a couple of publications. Additionally, their mascot is the unicorn, which I like very much and is also Scotland's National Animal. If you know much about Dunedin in general, you know that they are known for their strong Scottish heritage, and Caledonia is no exception to that. This gives Caledonia a strong identity not only in aesthetics but also in the beers they brew. While we only stayed for a drink, I enjoyed their Dragon's Blood Red Ale with its maltiness and a hint of hoppiness. The taproom has a very communal feel between the long communal tables and the long l-shaped bar area. I love that I had to introduce my craft beer loving boyfriend to this brewery. He thought he knew all the spots around here but not so much!! I got some major brownie points with this one because it just has an awesome vibe, great beer selection that has something for everyone and it always changing plus super chill staff. And their logo is a unicorn... how could you go wrong? They are pup friendly with two picnic tables outside alongside the building with umbrellas where my girls like to act like they are humans and sit next to us while trying to get into the beer while we are not looking. Service was - horrible. Was there in the early evening of 12/29/23 and the bartender could not have been more rude. Wouldn't do a flight because he was too busy (it was on the menu), wouldn't explain anything about any of the beers. Simply a jerk. We finally just said give us whatever was easiest for him. Had a really fun time here, and the owners and staff were great. My wife and her Ghoulfriends had put together a bar crawl, but not any kind of bar crawl a Dino Stroll. My wife reached out to the owner to see if we could start the stroll there, and she loved the idea. Asked if they could add the event to their event calendar and join in. I was here on trivia night and the place was packed. I was able to get a sea at the bar after a short wait. They have a bunch of their own beer and several tap handles of guest beers. So I really am in awe of this little "beertopia" that the little town of Dunedin has going on! This place was great and had a wide variety of beer choices to select from. Everything we tried from their sours to IPAs was very enjoyable. It is sometimes hard to find a brewery that can brew a good selection of beers well. I usually find they have a speciality and when they try to brew outside of that the other beers are lacking but that was not the case here. My only sadness was the only to go option was a growler not really ideal if you are just visiting:) they don't serve food but it looks like on certain nights they team up with a local restaurant who bring in food. Like most breweries they have various events like trivia etc. They don't have a parking lot but we found it easy to get a place on the street. read more

The menu is extensive, the music that night which was a Saturday was a blast from the past 90s videos and the whole room was moving. A Caledonia Brewing Review: I was here just over two weeks ago. The beer is solid enough, and our initial server was nice (a gent with dreds) but, when I went inside for another beer, some young dude of gave me the "maskhole 3rd degree". I pointed out, looking around at the other 20 or so other unmasked patrons sitting and drinking, that: 1) There is no evidence that masks are effective to warrant their use for the healthy and 2) There were 20 + others without masks...and 3) Why are you being a liberty hating, safety Nazi-Karen. So, I asked why does he not just give my beer and I will return outside. That was too easy for this flaccid safety patroler. The dude was rude; a true dork torque in his manner and tone from the get go. He almost refused to serve me; he was so triggered, it apparetly put some lead in his enforcement pencil and made for some good maskerbation. But that's OK. I, and some in my group, shan't return. That was my last beer there ever. The beer is good, but fear and loathing is what I was served by one young man on a Friday night. read more

Great location right by downtown Dunedin. One of the 7 breweries that Dunedin has to offer, this one is located in the renovated Dunedin Times building. They have done a great job remodeling and decorating this place. Nice long bar, tables throughout the space. The beer is excellent as well. They have about 12 to 16 of their own beers on tap and several guest taps. They offer flights, I highly recommend the Hoptacular and the Utterly Delish milk Stout. Great place to go with a group or just to hang out at the bar. They do have tvs to watch sporting events. Also one of the breweries on the gulp coast book where you can get a stamp. read more

I'm perplexed about what to say about Caledonia brewery. The place looks cool. Great long bar- high ceilings- some funky decor. The beers were tasty and plentiful to pick from. They do flights and prices were reasonable. BUT- the beer tender was a drag! I'm sorry but if folks are sitting at the bar at a brewery to taste beer and talk about beer and ask about beer the person working the bar should be engaging. He was not. Quiet. Working like a busy bee but not speaking or asking people if they liked the beer or wanted to try more or something!! He rang us up and gave me the wrong credit card back- put my bill on the mans bill next door. Should have noticed I was female card was a mans name on it. Just no atmosphere here. Sad, here at 1:57 pm Sunday. Wimbledon final going to tie breaker and we ask the bartender if they can put the sound on Espn instead of bar music. She says let me ask the manager and comes back and says no. There are only us four and four other people in the whole place. What a sad sad decision. This will be one of the only tie breaks in men's championship history. Owners of this place please have a talk with who ever manages your bar and let them know that denying us from MC hammer to listen to the last ten minutes of history is not a bad thing. read more
