I went to a pet store closer to me to get advice on a flea shampoo for my kitten. We love that pet store, but the person there basically knew how to run a register and that's it. I found myself getting in the car and wondering why I didn't just come over here. So here I am, and again I am very confident that the products I bought will be perfect for my little kitten. From the boutique and high quality toys, homemade treats, and even outfits this store blows any of the "big box" pet stores out of the water. The selection of things range from the necessary to the completely ridiculously unnecessary which is hilarious and I loved seeing some of the items they carried. However, with this kind of high quality often comes a high price. While the prices are not outrageous they will be slightly higher than your average pet store and that fortunately for us isn't a consideration as our little girl is treated as most parents treat their children. You can expect about a 10-15% difference in price with a much higher quality than you'd typically experience (especially in the treats case). The owner was a pleasure to chat with and shared all of his stories of past and current dogs which was awesome to hear about. He also told us about the history of the shop and what drove them to open it. These are good people just trying to fill a niche that wasn't covered previously when they opened their doors, and all three of us will gladly walk through those doors again and again whenever we find ourselves in the Portsmouth area :) Thanks again for the great conversation and Ruby says the treats were delicious!

There were baby bearded dragons housed with adult leopard geckos in a very small tank. I found a "savannah monitor" that was so skinny that its hip bones were jutting out. The "monitor" looked like an import and did not look like what it was claimed to be. The fish had ick. I saw a silver dollar fish with such bad ick that I thought it was dead. The eyes were completely covered with ick and its fins were chewed up. The tanks were filthy and I saw little metal pieces at the bottom of the tank. The place is overall extremely dirty and the rat room is nauseating. The staff doesn't know what they're doing. I have already posted some photos to google reviews. I wish I had taken more photos to show how terrible this shack is.

I joked with the peppy, young cashier that their array looked like a museum: They had one box and one box only of every brand on display. However, yesterday I went to go get some fish here and I asked for 6 Neón tetras and 4 dwarf Cory catfish. We were in a little bit of a rush and the worker was taking a while to get the fish caught (which I understand cause they are little and fast). However, after she had caught the Neón tetras she put them to the side so she could catch the Cory catfish. When she was done with all that she gave us the bags and said we were all set. However when we got to the cashier, there were only 4 Neón tetras in the bag and we didn't have time to go make her catch 2 more for us, so we left and planned to go back the next day to get a couple more because they are schooling fish and need at least 6. The next day (today) we went back to the store and asked for 6 more Neón tetras to add to the 4 we had gotten the day before. This time they had someone new training and had her net the fish while another worker was showing her how to do it which was fine. However, when she was done and we got to the cashier, I noticed there was a little baby guppy in the bag along with the tetras and I was so focused on that that I didn't count the tetras (there were only 4 again). But I said to the cashier "there is a baby guppy in here and we only want the Neón tetras" he proceeded to respond with "oh just keep it and take the free fish. " me, only being 16 didn't want to argue so I just went with it hoping it would be ok. Then as I got out to the car I was looking at the fish more to check them out and I noticed there were only 4 neon tetras in the bag along with the 1 baby guppy and a snail. Now I'm stuck having to either find a time to bring back the guppy and snail or just having to keep them and hope they don't die or that the snail doesn't overrun the tank with babies.
