I inherited a German Shepherd/Boxer mix that is about a year old. He's about 70 lbs and rambunctious. His owner passed a couple of months ago so he's been through many changes lately and was acting out. He loves to play and was driving my 3 other smaller dogs bonkers, door dashing and then running around the neighborhood, would not come when called, and generally stressing everyone out. The little dogs would hide all day and wouldn't go outside with him because he would chase and nip at them in an attempt to get them to chase him and play. Elise at Woof Training took him for 2 weeks and I can honestly say it's the best thing I could have done for Max and myself. I picked him up yesterday and he is a different dog. He did try to test his limits when he got home, but I stuck to his training and he has been terrific. I walked him today and he didn't once try to pull on his lead. The dogs all go outside together now and he mostly leaves them be. He tries to entice them to play, but not in a manner that scares or angers them. Andrew was great! Woof training was quick to respond to texts and emails. We were having issues with some aggression with our rescue dog and our resident dog. Andrew came out to asses the situation and set us up with a game plan. He set us up to have 4 sessions. He was not pushy and we never got the feeling he was only in it for the money. After our third session, our boys were doing so well Andrew told us he didn't think he needed to come back, but offered still answer questions via text or he would come back for a follow up if we felt we needed it. I definitely am glad I enlisted Andrew's help! I used to foster dogs and I've done lots of positive reinforcement training with my recent rescue, Kira, with good results, but reaching out to Woof Training to get some guidance on how to manage a persistent issue was so worthwhile. I saw results faster than expected, with clear improvement after just two sessions, one of which was the lower cost evaluation. Andrew has a quiet, gentle efficiency about him that really lends itself to his abilities as a trainer. My guess is that dog trainers probably deal most often with dogs that are unruly or overexcited, but he was quick to pick up on the fact that Kira's issues spring largely from nervousness/uncertainty. I'm confident he's able to tailor his approach to work with a wide variety of dogs and issues.
