Never ever again. Their kennel cleanliness is perhaps non-existent. Boarded my guys for 2.5 days and he came back hacking and coughing. Had to take him to the urgent vet clinic and my baby has kennel cough. He received a bath I didn't ask for which has me concerned about the care and observation he received. I've been leery of the spot for some time after a few uses because there is no grass for him to pee or play. I've tried to overlook this, but how? Does he just go on the floor? Or in their kennels? In addition the owner's rude and dismissive disposition leaves much to be desired and much to avoid at all cost. Only because 1 or 2 of the front desk workers are kind do I feel regret for having to write this , but never will I ever subject my baby or myself to that facility. My dog's emergency vet bill, the poor care, and the lackluster customer service from the owner has me sold on never returning. An observation: a reviewer from just few days ago, 14 to be exact, made a similar complaint. These people took super great care of my puppy. She came downstairs extremely happy and groomed to my expectations. This lodge will be my go-to for my babies and I would recommend to anyone who needs a trusted place for them to stay. Billy, the man who helped me was clearly very experienced and knew what he was talking about. He had great knowledge and knew the answer to every question, as I was nervous about leaving my dog here. I adopted my standard poodle from the Mid-Atlantic Poodle Rescue (MAPR). I knew I would love my rescue but what I did not know at the time was that I would love Woofs and Wags, where MAPR has its home base. Woofs and Wags has become my dog's "home away from home" and even though I live in DC, I would not lodge my pup in any other facility. It is worth the travel time. Everything went well, I had been coming here for 10 years. The owners Paul and Shawn are great guys. Their new staff and manager are really cool and they all get so excited for the dogs to come in, make me feel good to know that they are excited to get the dogs I have recommended them to at-least 20 people in my building and most went, some still go to daycare usually do board and grooms, they know how to handstrip my pup and that is harder to find than you'd imagine. Came back from a business trip to find my dogs that had been boarded were completely stressed by the chaotic atmosphere. No tours of the facility prior to boarding but you can hear the back room is beyond a standard dog facility. No updates the entire time I was gone. No photos, no emails. At pickup, they didn't offer even a minimal assessment of their time there despite being there almost two weeks. Bill came to over $1100 and I got in the car to find one had been so obviously stressed he got a hotspot from licking between his toes. DO NOT take your dogs to woofs and wags boarding. They decided they wanted to give our dog broly an unauthorized bath the night before we picked him up that they didn't ask our permission to do and charged us $65 for it. IN TURN that bath and soap they decided to take it upon themselves to use without our permission (our vet confirmed that the soap used at the kennel caused this due to it being the last thing that touched our dogs skin) caused broly a severe allergic reaction and a $300 vet bill. Now he's on predisone for the next 2 weeks. Broly also has an upper respiratory infection from being there September 13-17th. They claim it's not lack of care BUT IT IS when you decide to bathe a dog in something you don't know Whether he was allergic to or not. Now the person that works there is blaming us for brolys allergic reaction that they caused and claiming we are upset at a $65 charge and apparently it's our fault for choosing the basic stay package because if we chose to upgrade he would have never gotten a bath because he's an active breed. YES our dog is an active breed but that doesn't require us to choose upgrades we didn't want and doesn't excuse what you decided to do without our permission it doesn't matter if dogs getting baths while there isnt uncommon in your eyes. A simple call, text, email or message on your customer login page to us would have worked and we would have told you not to bathe him for this reason and which is also why we did not choose the additional bathing option upon booking and chose the basic stay package with no upgrades. Our fur baby stayed here for the first time this weekend! He was dropped off Friday afternoon and picked up Saturday! My husband made the initial reservations with Woofs and Wags and reports his interaction had been great from the beginning! He even stopped in one day last week, prior to our Boxer's stay and despite it not being the day for tours, they showed him around! The facility is clean and the staff are very friendly! Check in was smooth and my dog appeared to be happy when we picked him up! Now I'm sure he was happy to be going home lol but what I mean is he didn't seem "overtired" or "lethargic" like he can sometimes be when we leave him! This is the first kennel he's been to in a couple years so I was anxious about leaving him! But what fur mama isn't, right!? We had a previous place for him to board but when management changed over it went to hell! He usually just stays with my in laws but we needed another arrangement for whenever they aren't available or when we would all be traveling together. Pricing is reasonable! Our boxer is about 86 pounds and we paid $35 a day! $70 total which isn't bad! I can truly say we were happy with how we were treated and most importantly, how our doggie was taken care of! This will not be the last time we utilize Woofs and Wags! Thank you for taking such great care of our dog! My dog stayed at Woofs and Wags for three days while I was out of town. When I got home after picking him up, he peed for a very long time, and as soon as we got inside he tried to poop on the carpet, which he hasn't done since he was a puppy. I work full time and he often goes 8-10 hours without going outside without a problem, so he obviously had not been let out in a very long time. The woman at the front desk also said that he did not play with any of the other dogs, which is VERY unusual for him, and he's been reverse sneezing all night, so now I have to take him to the vet to see what kind of infection he picked up. I had another visit scheduled at W&W but immediately canceled it, we will not be returning. read more

My Charlie and I had the most wonderful experience at woofs and wags. We went out of town for a weekend and we could not find an affordable or consistently rated pet hotels in Baltimore until we spotted this gem! I spoke with Paul the owner on the phone and he patiently and thoroughly answered all of our questions. When we arrived Paul conducted our Charlie's on boarding process and he was patient and helpful again. When I called and checked on my Charlie, the staff was pleasant and told me all about the ways they connected with Charlie which made me very happy I picked Woofs and Wags. I'm saddened to have to write this review. To be honest I backed out until things got worse for my dog. I'll make this short. If you love your dog don't lodge or have your dog groomed here. My dog was being lodged here for two years and we had some issues over the years such as receiving our dog incredibly dehydrated, and urgently needing to relieve himself. We have never received photos of our dog while away as promised or updates on how his stay is going. He never gets his things back or we receive other lodged dogs belongings. Not major but it's a service we paid for. Also there were no changes in the future. We were new dog owners with a small child so it was a learning curve, so I take a lot of fault here for continuing to send him here. We also used their newest groomer whose suppose to be award winning. He is terrible, we've only used their groomers and have been happy with the grooms. Except for the new guy. Absolutely horrendous, no blending, must've air dried him, coat came back VERY curly coat. Hygienic areas went untouched, face/head hair completely untouched private area untouched and paws untouched. They did offer a 50% refund however they kept my dog for HOURS im talking a full day and he came back looking terrible and smelled like he was only rinsed not shampooed. Groomer was kind just not a groomer of large dogs or maybe an assistant did the job. We then lodged him and he was given to us sopping wet with pee on his paws hind legs and back as if he was sharing space with other dogs or left in a dirty kennel. This was after they said they had to give him a bath because he peed on him self and they'd never send a dog home this way but literally handed him to us wet. He also developed kennel cough. My dog is NEVER in contact with other dogs unless being lodged there. So again i DO NOT RECOMMEND. If you do you'll at some point regret it. We learned the hard way. Don't put your dog at risk. They genuinely do not care their response and lack of professionalism and care for dog says it all. read more

Recently picked up my dog after a trip down south. He was there for a week. When he was brought from the back he was excited to see me, Pulling on the leash and coughing, I didn't think much about it. The coughing/choking never stop. Turns out he had kennel cough for the second time. He was there for a week earlier in the year and the same thing happen then, I completely forgot about it until I picked him up after my recent trip. I've boarded him more than 10 times at another location nearby and have never had this issues. I only started using woofs and wags after my other boarder had to close do to an illness. Several months ago I met one of the owners, I can't remember his name he has a brown shepherd. Very nice person but I haven't seen him since. The other owners and employees just don't do it for me, I don't get the feeling they care, I think it's just a job to them at this point. I guess what really kind of got me upset is that it was obvious he was coughing and making choking sounds. This didn't just happen because I picked him up. He had this prior to me picking him up and they said absolutely nothing about it. so that really makes me wonder if they even care about the pets that they're being paid to look after My dog has always been current on all his shots. I take very good care of him and I just can't take him back to this location. I have several days of daycare that are paid for and I don't plan on using. read more

While I went off on vacation I took Lucy to Woofs and Wags #woofsandwags . I felt like her being there would allow me to have peace of mind and relax for my week away. I picked her up and immediately noticed something was going on with her leg. I asked them about it. The response was basically I don't know...she was laying on it. I took her home examined it closer and made a vet appointment. She went to the vet a day later and was given iv fluids, antibiotics, nausea meds and they noted she had 2 puncture wounds which had now become infected (cellulitis ) I took her home....gave her some TLC, meds and observed her. I went back to Woofs and Wags Woofs and Wags and told them about it. One of the owners Paul got an attitude with me and refused any responsibility. He told me he didn't think it was a puncture and that my dog was fat. And he'd talk to his partner about it and get back to me. I left.... I heard NOTHING! I went back the next day - spoke to his partner Sean who was a bit nicer and I requested a refund and vet expenses. He did give me a refund for boarding however NO ONE has offered any explanation Two days later LUCY died .... I got an email from Paul saying basically sorry for being an ahole! I replied with thanks but Lucy died... Not one reply...I've heard nothing at all from Woofs and Wags - I'm devastated and heartbroken And they have denied that anything was wrong with Lucy when I picked her up instead they have told me that she is an older dog and overweight and had I considered that as a reason for the puncture or infection Lucy didn't deserve that! She deserved to be cared for while her mom was away Lucy died a few days after leaving this place DON'T SEND YOUR PET HERE !! read more

The team at Woofs & Wags is nothing short of AMAZING. The amount of care and friendliness that goes into just speaking with you about your plans is top notch! Popping in for information is super easy and very transparent. From the moment you walk in you can tell that the environment is clean and safe, that the people care and that the animals are healthy. They have no issues with medication management or feeding our dogs diet the way we do at home, which is helpful when your dog's diet is complicated. Our dogs play with other dogs of the same size and play style. We get updates throughout the stay and the owners have even taken the time to show my 5 year old where her puppy sleeps when visiting. We have even had their team assist us with a few training concerns we had. Two of our pups are high maintenance grooms and we have not experienced any issues with this either. The dogs are always fresh and happy when we get them, but they are just as happy to run to the team members when we are dropping off. While staying at Woofs and Wags, I know my dogs are cared for and that is a relief. If there is ever a medical situation I know they will call me and do what's best for my babies, without question. We are responsible pet people, our dogs are vaccinated per our vets guidelines - we also know that upper respiratory infections like kennel cough and influenza are not always transparent (some dogs don't even show symptoms), these things happen in areas of population like kennels, vets offices and other places - its just a part of the risk when boarding. These things do not mean the kennel is not clean - sometimes these things just happen. The team very clearly does everything they can to reduce risk, make sure dogs are still having a great time and updating you if something changes. My dogs are higher maintenance pets, I do not trust them with just anyone, the Woofs & Wags team has become a huge part of our pups lives. They have our babies very frequently and we never regret it. I've been going to Woof and Wags for many years, first with my 2 dogs Payton and Walter, and today with my dog Decker. This review is based on years of experience with Paul and his staff. Paul is a great person who loves dogs and animals. I would bring my dogs in for daycare a few times a week and sometimes for boarding. Never any incidents, great care as far as I know. When I had 2 dogs, it was hard for me to afford that much care but I had a demanding job and couldn't leave the pups at home all day every day. Paul could see the financial burden this had on me and helped me out in any way he could to ease the burden. Paul doesn't know how much I appreciated and needed this. Payton and Walter both passed during COVID. When I started coming back after COVID and informed them, staff members were visibly shaken. Again they care about the animals and people. I've been taking my dog decker there since I got him last year. It's been great. Decker is a high energy dog and he comes home (kind of) tired and it helps a lot. I can't say enough good things about this place, definitely worth a visit if you need pet care! read more

I can't say enough nice things about this place. It was the first time I ever boarded, Lucy, my 1.5 year old miniature Australian Shepherd puppy. She is typically with me all day long while I work, and typically has separation anxiety issues. They made her feel right at home and took great care of her. They made sure she ate the food I brought and that she got her pre & probiotics. They even stayed open late the next day to let me pick her up after hours at no charge. This place is extremely unprofessional. The owner answers the phone like he just woke up and has zero clue what's going on. He's often rude and aloof. I had to call defray times to make an appt and when hanging up I was worried the appt was really made so I had to call back several times to confirm. The new groomer Ciera is not good either. She left several areas on my dog much longer than the rest of her hair. I had to cut the hair myself. She also cut some areas too short and skin is burned and exposed. I wasn't allowed to meet the groomer either. She also took forever. Very disappointed in the whole experience and will not be returning. read more

I have been bringing my dog here for grooming for a while now. While it was pretty good before, it is excellent now that Shawn and his team have taken over (several years ago). My dog is an old girl and has some stability issues due to her weak hips and also can be stubborn/crotchety for no good reason. Shawn is so patient with her and gives her breaks when she needs so she doesn't get stressed. I truly feel like he cares for her.
