Update after he stayed there all weekend. We couldn't be happier with Bourbon's boarding experience! From the moment we dropped him off, we knew he was in great hands. He got to play with sprinklers, enjoy one-on-one time with staff, cuddle during story time, and even have chicken and rice for dinner -- talk about VIP treatment! The staff did a wonderful job managing his energy, giving him time-outs when needed, and making sure he felt safe and loved the entire time. He came home happy, tired, and clearly well cared for. My dog took training at the Cockeysville location and had a great experience, but since Joppa is much closer I decided to give their boarding a try. The online reservation process, while simple, doesn't give you the cost for services as it says it will. I still had to call to find out how much I could expect to pay. Fortunately, the person I talked to was really helpful and patient. I initially made a reservation for overnight boarding which included dropping the dog off on Saturday morning at 8:45, and picking up the next morning at 8:45. When I realized that they offered late pickups for an additional fee, I called to have them change the reservation to pick up by 9:30 pm on Saturday instead. Then of course as luck would have it, my friend got sick and my evening plans were cancelled. Called them again WHILE my dog was already there, and asked if it would be ok to pick her up by 6:30 pm. I had a little anxiety that they wouldn't allow a same day change. The girl I spoke to was very friendly and said "no problem" and I received an updated reservation email within 2 minutes. Their prices are very reasonable for the amount of hours your dog is there, including the overnight boarding cost. I will definitely be using them again very soon! read more

This place is fine for the occasional daycare stay when you're taking a quick day trip and don't want to leave pup home all day, but we weren't stoked about the boarding services. The biggest complaint is that there simply is no accountability for what you're paying for: no daily reports for food/playtime/medications administered, etc. We checked in on the puppy cams at least 25 times in one weekend while we were gone, and not once did we see our puppy outside playing. When we questioned the desk about play schedules or what his days were like at boarding, how he was acting/ behaving, etc. they didn't seem to have any tracking system for themselves internally as an organization either. No database or online repository where they seem to be keeping track of what each dog receives on a daily basis or how often they've been let out to potty, playtime, snacks/treats being given that we paid for either. Much like a real daycare service, I should be able to inquire about the times or schedule of my dog on any given day and have an employee be able to look at a report and relay exactly what services were provided and when. This place's motto is basically "pay us and trust that we have done what you paid for." Won't be boarding here again. read more

I've used these folks for probably 25 years plus whenever I had to go out of town. They are fantastic, the staff is friendly and are true dog lovers. I never had a negative experience at either location. I primarily use the Joppa location. I just had an overnight stay this weekend and I'm continued to be pleased. My pup got a great bath and nail done. She is happy, healthy and worn out from her stay which is always great be the following day. read more

This place is excellent! I brought my young golden doodle here for a grooming to check the place out, and meet the staff. Everyone was extremely friendly, kind, and caring. The staff here clearly wake up here everyday excited to play with these dogs and care for them. They have live cameras setup so that you can see your pupper playing, and they ensure that all the pooches are vaccinated prior to acceptance. I would highly recommend this place to everyone I know that is looking for dog grooming or a day spa for their pupper. They also take pictures of your dog if you drop them off for daycare, and write nice notes about how it went. read more

I am writing this as my dog is checked in overnight at the Animal Emergency Hospital in Bel Air 24 hours after his stay in Joppa. Otis, our 1 year old healthy boxer, went for his New Kid Orientation last Wednesday to precede our two night boarding. We received no report card from this, despite being told at checkout it would be there. There are only 4 pictures in his file snapped poorly back to back. There was no written feedback from the initial eval that was required and we paid for. We went out of town the following Tuesday after we dropped him off at 12:30. We returned and picked him up Thursday at 6:00 pm. He again had no report card. No pictures. From a two day stay. We had no reception during our trip, so I called to check on him while I was in town twice, getting no answer. After the facility closed, we did get a frustrated retuned call from a young woman saying he "was fine and they would have called if there was a problem." The one time I was able to access a camera on Tuesday, I saw Otis in a side kennel separated from the other dogs. When I asked Amanda about this, she said it wasn't him, as they have multiple boxers every day. I checked all cameras and only saw one boxer and know Otis has distinct sock markings. (I'm also a veterinarian's daughter and sister, so I am fairly confident with my breed identification.) I called Thursday evening around 6:30 pm following pickup to find out about the missing report cards and pictures, as Otis' behavior was a little lethargic and my husband was pushed out the door so quickly at pickup with the assurance that "notes will be in the report card." (They also did not return our additional bag of dog food, but assured us he was fed the diet we provided). I was told that they would hunt down the stay information and call me by Friday (the next) afternoon. Around 10 pm (4 hours after pickup), Otis vomited. He was lethargic and retching most of the next morning so I called around 9 am to ask specifically if he had been sick. They assured me someone would call back. By lunch, no one had. I called again after lunch. Amanda (I believe) spoke to me around 3 and indicated that she was still looking for report card notes, but assured me he had not been sick while he was there. Literally the only record of him being at Joppa was the $180 bill I paid (they did process a fast return on the bath they did not give him). It was also suggested I medicate Otis for his nausea and that "it couldn't hurt." She assured me she would call back with the information on Otis's stay by close of business. It is now midnight and I have not received that promised call. I called our regular vet after being assured that Otis had not been sick at the facility and due to the late notice, I couldn't get an appointment until Monday. Otis continued to vomit, so at 8 pm, I took him to the Animal Emergency Hospital in Bel Air. Much of the forms I was unable to fill out, due to having no report card or stay feedback. Common sense indicates to me that my dog did not go from being perfectly well at BFF Thursday at 6 pm to hospitalized for what appears to be a stomach virus and early pneumonia by Friday at 8:00 pm. So either my dog got ill at BFF and no one noticed or he was ill at BFF and no one noticed. Not sure which is worse. The number of dogs being supervised at a time (based on my camera observation and their inability to process report cards and track down handler notes) is more than they can handle. The follow through and communication is so poor I will never trust them with the care of my dog again. At this point I paid $180 for a two night stay to BFF that resulted in $1200 in Emergency vet bills. BFF came highly recommended by two trusted friends who used them several years ago, but I can assure anyone looking for a facility that things have absolutely changed. read more

BFFE is amazing! When I walk in the door they greet me by name. They immediately take my two pups back for a fun filled day! One of my dogs is not a people person but here he loves everyone and shows no fear or discomfort towards the people that work there. We watch the dogs on the cameras and we really enjoy a little break when they get home as they typically sleep for a day or two after being there for even just one day. We have even had a few scares with our pups and the staff was right on top of it. Our Big dog had an emergency one day and they rushed him to our vet to get the situation taken care of. I can not recommend them enough and will continue to do so to whomever desires a great place to take your dog for daycare or even boarding... but it's not the boarding where they stick your dog in a cage and walk it for five minutes twice a day. It's fun for the dogs. A vacation in itself! They also send pictures and report cards most days! read more

My cocker spaniel, Spencer had not been groomed since September; his coat was terribly matted. I had only been able to use waterless shampoo on him. Amy and the other grooming technicians at Best Friends Fur Ever did a wonderful job. In fact, from the time I placed my initial call to paying and rescheduling everyone that I had interaction with were polite, professional, and helpful. Spencer is 14 years, 8 months young, so I greatly appreciate the fact that he was not crated and had some canine socializing. I highly recommend this facility. read more

Someone told me that their pet was seriously injured by another dog at this place and the owners will not provide any insurance information or pay for any medical bills. They said that her dog was the aggressor towards a bigger dog that is why they have no responsibility. This is the second review that I am forced to leave.We boarded our dog here for 11 nights in June/July. We had 5/6 issues with this place. See previous email after this review. I am writing a second review, as we have heard nothing from this company as to what they are going to do about what happened with our experience with their facility. I emailed both emails that were on the website, I have had responses from these before in the past regarding our initial booking, so I know that are valid emails, but as soon as its something they don't want to deal with, it gets blatantly ignored! I initially emailed them after our dogs stay as I wanted to keep the complaint internal and give them the benefit of the doubt, they ignored the first email. 10 days later I decided to leave a google review, within a couple of hours of a bad review going up, someone from the customer service team was calling me. On the phone she said that our experience is a great 'learning curve' for their members of staff and that all of our issues were going to be brought up in their training. She said that their staff is not NOT up to the standard of training that she wanted and was going to use our bad experience for training purposes. This did not solve any of our concerns at all! We paid over $700 for apparently staff that were not trained properly. She left the conversation stating that she will see what else she can find out and would get back to us within a FEW DAYS. It's been well over a month and still nothing but ignored emails. I see all the good reviews on here and had every hope we could write one just as good, but that is not the case. I am genuinely DISGUSTED at the customer service and communication that we have received from this place. I am extremely upset that I have to sit here and write another bad review in hopes to get a response from this company!! First google review is posted below: I didn't want to have to write a review on google, but the lack of response from the complaint email that we sent has made us even more upset with this place. I have copied the email that was sent A WEEK ago below. Still no response from anyone at this company. We are a very laid back couple that just want the best for our dog when we are away, but this IS NOT a place we would use again. We expected with all the good reviews we would be getting the best, don't be fooled. 'We had our dog stay with you for 11 nights from the 2nd July - 11th July (Ollie Phillips- Black Lab). We had heard great reviews about your place and were excited for him to stay with you while we were away. We wanted to leave him in the best hands.  After having him stay with you, we were hugely disappointed by the service that we paid for, specifically the care and communication. The day after we had checked him in we received a picture of him with bad crate rub on his nose. Ollie is crate trained at home, so it must of been a particularly small crate for him to of done that?  We know that sometimes that is what can happen and it is not the fault of any member of staff, but the way it was handled with the communication was not good. We received a picture and a small description of what happened and then no explanation on what needed to be done/ if he needed any treatment or anything. This was really unsettling for us when we are thousands of miles away from home. When we put our dog into a facility such as yours at the daily/nightly rate we paid then we expect the best service, care and communication. The aim should off course be that we can leave our dog and not have to worry. Over the course of 11 days we received 5 reports of 'something that was wrong' with our dog. First his nose from crate rub, then we get a report that he had a mole on the top of his head that had been ripped off (there was no mole there when we dropped him off!) and now he has a scar,  then he had a cut on his lip and then ulcers on one side of his mouth and a scratch on his paw. It was a catalogue of 'issues' without the required information to support a series of concerning photographs. We have checked Ollie into kennels on one previous occasion and had no issues or any injuries whatsoever. We understand that you have to report everything to us, but surely this needs to be done properly - not just an alarming photo (and at best a vague comment). We travel a great deal and we were really hoping that with the considerably higher price that you charge, we would be getting the very best for Ollie and we could leave him with confidence and without any concern. This experience has in fact resulted in the opposite - we really don't want to leave him in kennels ever again.............. We expect a response and for this long overdue problem to be resolved. read more

Great dog day care. We get the package and it lasts us about 2-3 months for day care passes. My dog is always tired when she gets home and it's perfect after a long day of work. They also do overnight which we have done before and we get a report card on all of the overnight stays. Awesome place and you can watch your dog on camera if you want too.. My wife and I have been taking our dogs here for almost two years. The place is perfect for our dogs. The facility is clean and well-maintained and doesn't smell terrible. It smells like dogs and that is to be expected. The staff are friendly and are very accommodating. We have been able to bring in our dogs on short notice for boarding without an appointment. Another instance involved us picking up our dogs after normal hours but before late pickup time and it was not an issue. The dogs might come back with a small scrape or something, but they are romping all day so it's not abnormal. I feel a little bad since I know during pickup and drop off times my dogs are in a holding kennel. However, I can't imagine having to corral a bunch of dogs away from an open door every five seconds to let a new one in. So I understand that. Occasionally, they come back pretty stinky from the cages since there are probably old blankets in there. But again - lots of romping and hey dogs can be stinky anyway. No big deal. All in all, it's a good spot. They genuinely love dogs and seem to recognize ours by name. I like that. Plus, they will remind you of your mandatory vaccine requirement before your next visit. Kinda helps! We will keep coming back for sure. read more

My dog, Bentley, a year old Standard Poodle has been boarding at Best Friends Fur Ever since he was ten weeks old. The staff is amazingly friendly and recognize me by name when I walk in. The report cards are a very nice touch that allows me to monitor him during his stays and the get well basket they sent when my pup was ill was beyond thoughtful. I do not recommend taking your dog here. I was not going to write a review, but I was just contacted by Best Friends Furever today, a year after the last incident with my dog. A year since he has been back. One year ago I picked my dog up from BFF because I saw him locked in an outside cage for 30 minutes during "free play time." This is the part I was paying for- to have my dog exercise and play with other dogs. After watching for 30 minutes, I finally called. I understand bad behavior needs to have a consequence. I called, they claimed he was in the pen for only 5 minutes. Cameras stated otherwise. The male that was on the grounds watching the dogs grabbed another dog by the muzzle and pushed it away. I picked my dog up earlier than normal pick up time. Why would I pay to have him caged up in a crate when he could be cuddle up at home? His head was SOAKED. There was no explanation. I took my dog to the park and was told by other members of the dog park that Best Friends Furever has a tendency to spray dogs in the faces with hoses when they "do not listen." This place is ran by people who do not have true interactions and training within the animal department. I was not going to write a review, but they went out of their way to call me back today. I assumed maybe this will be an apology or a "try again, on us" kind of phone call. The man that answered did not pass me along to the woman that originally called. When I reexplained the story, he said "Ok. Thanks, goodbye." Watch your dogs on the camera. Not just for a few seconds, watch them for a while. Report cards are nice, but they do not show the side of rudeness and inability to handle animals. read more

After taking my dog here for daycare during the past year, I thought I had found a gem of a place. My dog seemed well-loved and cared for at first. Even when she got very sick twice from another dog there, I continued to give them my business. Fast forward to this past week when I dropped her off for boarding at 4:45 am. My dog was choking and hacking from pulling herself with her collar/leash on. The front desk told me she would be quarantined and asked to be picked up once the manager heard her. I told them my dog had not been sick and the coughing from the collar was common for her. They realized I was probably correct and took her, but 2 hours later I get a call demanding I pick her up. Mind you, we were already in another state. Apparently she was "coughing a lot." (Side note- she didn't cough once when my relative had to go pick her up from there.) We asked them about taking her to the vet and/or keeping her quarantined for the extra fee (we made it clear we would pay this) as the contract states and it was dismissed. I completely understand it is a health safety hazard, however my dog had been fine and i never imagined them denying taking her to the vet if needed. We did not have any other dog sitters available either. I was extremely upset that a loyal costumer was treated like this and a signed contract was not adhered to by them . Wouldn't recommend working here, training here or even being here. Let's start off with the training, do you want a dog who cowers at water and has no redirection? Then use a squirt bottle for all your problems. I can't believe I even wanted to work here. Oh, and ps, a trainer or anyone applying who has a disability, do not apply. This is not an equal opportunity employer, AT ALL. Your disability will not be accommodated, you will be expected to test in a chaotic environment, at least 10-15 dogs packed in an office, barking, people being loud as ever, and everything obnoxious. You will not have an instructor present, you are expected to ask others, who they themselves don't know. YOU WILL HAVE CLOSE TO ZERO COMMUNICATION (also admired by a few staff members who claim this is normal ) Their own shift leader was voicing out loud, (I hate this fucking place ). Yeah, really want to bring my dog around that kind of attitude. There is only one behaviorist here and she doesn't do the training. It's hilarious to think these methods of training being used are even accurate. Heck some of the staff will blatantly say they have no idea what to do, they wing it and there's no organization at all. Some dogs they just let do whatever, urinate on the walls, doors, chairs, eat the chairs, chew the blankets, there is no real control here. I wouldn't waste your money or time here. I regret that I wasted mine and was fired unjustly over a test that had no instructor in a madhouse. Expectations here are outrageous, half the trainers don't even have near the experience or qualifications that they should. You want basic training, well there you go. Cheap treats that are not belly safe, greasy and often are recalled by the established brand (proven). A squirt bottle for correction, no consistency in commands (as admitted by staff) Oh and do not go here for Service Dog needs or affiliation, they do not know the laws for the ADA and the rights that you will need to know or face a federal charge for fraud. Overall I do not recommend for anyone with a disability, for anyone that values communication or being treated with respect, its disorganized chaos in a nutshell. The training is basic, BASIC. We are talking a kindergarten level of a mindset that hardly could compete in any competition of recognized AKC obedience or show. read more

Of the 213 reviews I have left for businesses over the last couple years, only 4 of them are 1 star like I gave this business. That's only 1.8% of my reviews. How is that compulsive? In fact, 144 of my 213 reviews are 4 or 5 stars. That's 67.6% of my reviews being "Yay! I'm a fan!" or "Woohoo as good as it gets!" and only 1.8% being "Eek! Methinks not." If you want to talk about compulsive, you clearly compulsively drive people to post bad reviews. 83% of your Yelp reviews are one star. Are all of them "fake" like you claim mine is? Instead of lashing out in anger, maybe you should take a hint and be professional. Reach out and take constructive criticism to address what people clearly see as a problem. You can really tell the quality of a business by how they take criticism. I readily explained upfront that this was from one experience. Had they reached out to point out where what I was seeing was not the case, maybe I would have adjusted my review. But there is no professional response, just lashing out in anger. If you'll look through my 213 reviews you'll see I have reviewed two other Doggy Daycare places, one in Baltimore and one in Philadelphia, and they both received 4/5 stars. The bottom line is this place doesn't measure up to those outstanding places. This is not a "false and fake review." The fact that they tout their "scheduled playtime" is proof of what I'm saying. In a good doggie daycare they shouldn't have to schedule playtime. They should be out playing 99% of the time, and only crated if absolutely necessary. Nap time in the middle of the day is not necessary. Really top of the line daycare places don't even crate at night. They have someone there 24/7. But I can understand how that's not always possible. There is absolutely no reason someone taking your money to watch your dog should be putting them in a crate during the day though. Absolutely none. If you can't be bothered to schedule people to watch them every single second of the day, and feel the need to put them in a crate for even an hour, let alone a few hours, then you should rename your place a kennel, not a doggy daycare so people know what they're getting. I didn't say you abused the dogs. I said that this isn't a doggy daycare. Its a kennel with "scheduled playtime." People should know what they're getting into. And you are correct, I did get a report card at pickup. It was a generic piece of paper with generic pre-filled in comments. Further driving home the fact that this is a big kennel with very little personal touch. And you did completely forget to give the little guy his medicine. When I picked him up he should have had another 4 days left on his antibiotics. When I asked where his medicine was, the man said "we don't have any medicine for him." So did you just never give it to him at all? Or did you just forget to give it to me? Not sure. Since its not my dog and I didn't pay the money, it wasn't my place to contact you about the problem. I told the pet parents, and I assume they contacted you. Or maybe they just chalked it up to a mistake and that was that. I will say the dog owners are two of my very best friends, and they still go here on occasion. They seem to think its fine. Their dog gets watched, gets some playtime, and comes home relatively no worse for wear. But I'm not posting for them. I'm posting my opinion. This review is for the new Cockeysville location. Perhaps Joppa has more activities for the dogs, but we were not happy with Cockeysville. I was so excited when they first opened, they are 5 minutes from my house. There is a daycare 30 minutes away that I LOVE, but it's hard to get there for us. My 3 yr old GSD loves to play at daycare, and it tires him out in a happy way...except for Best Friends Fur Ever. The dogs are crated entirely too much. If you drop them off at 7 am, they are crated until 9!! Then they are crated again for a couple of hours at lunch (11:45, not noon like they tell you); then they are crated again around 4:45 (they'll tell you 5:00). Watch the webcams, the dogs just mill around, very few activities for them. We purchased a 20 day pass for our dog, and really regretted it. We would pick him up at 5 and as soon as we walked in they said "Your dog was in time-out again for humping"!! I asked at the other two daycares that he goes to, and they both said they've never seen him hump. He's bored. He's extremely trainable and smart, isn't there another way to handle this? He was never tired after going to BFFE. They agreed to refund the remaining days of the pass, hallelujah. It's too bad, I really had high hopes. It always seemed as though the rules are for the convenience of the staff, not geared towards the dogs. BTW, the other local daycare never crates the dogs. Cannot recommend. read more
