Had a scheduled appointment and waited in the waiting room more than 40-minutes, then another 15-minutes in the exam room. I walked out. They seem to believe that their time is more important than my time. They make a big point to confirm your reservation by phone and text and let you know that you will be charged for a no-show. Well, I got there early and their service to me was a no-show. These folks are over book and you will wait, and wait regardless of your appointment time. I don't know about their quality of care as I NEVER SAW ANYONE. Find a more reliable dermatologist. read more

The lady doctor is nice, the guy doctor is rude. Horrible bed side manner. Would not recommend.

I went to Worcester Dermatology Associates a few years ago. I posted a review on Google which Dr. Cates responded to, but I never posted a review on Yelp. I did not have a good experience here. I saw a P.A. and he basically told me he had no other options for my skin and no recommendations. They also did not allow me to see a M.D. I left with nothing. Also - the girls at the front desk were extremely rude. They were loudly making fun of a patient who had just left. Try to avoid this place. I love Dr. Camille Roberts on Grove St. Dr. Rosenfeld is also a good alternative. read more

I went into Worcester Derm and saw Patty Siano - she was awesome! Very nice and informative and made some great recommendations for my skin. The office was easy to get to, clean, and I didn't wait long to see the doctor. The front office staff was great, very friendly and nice ladies! read more

DISCLAIMER: Neither Dr. Kates or Kathy Rose, PA actually looked at my skin. My experience seemed pleasant at first, but quickly went down hill after that. I went here for a medical dermatology as opposed to cosmetic. I was able to get an appointment very quickly as a new patient which was great. When I came in, I first met with a student who asked me a bunch of questions regarding my visit and concerns and essentially my ultimate goal. The student then let me know I would be meeting with the doctor in a few minutes. Dr. Kates then came in. He was very pleasant and personable, however, that was very short lived as soon as I realized he wasn't very interested in my concerns and previous history. I tried to explain to him my concerns and he consistently spoke over me. What was even more frustrating is that he wasn't open to hearing what I was interested in possibly trying in terms of medication as I had already expressed to him what did not work for me. The most infuriating part of the visit was when he asked me about my regular/daily skin regimen. He asked me if I used sunscreen and what spf. I told him of course I did and always above spf35. He then told me due to my complexion sunscreen was not something I needed to use (which isn't not true). The then continued to make racial comments stating that because of my complexion, my skin is different that my white counterpart so that I do not need to worry about sunscreen or moisturizing for that matter and to eliminate those things from my skin regimen. Though I am aware that there are different advantages and disadvantages to skin types depending on genetic predisposition overall irrespective of color, the skin functions the same and is thus cared for the same. A month later I made the mistake to go back. I was obviously unhappy with my previous visit so I saw one of the P.A.'s Kathy Rose. She then told me how to use the medication I was prescribed by Dr. Kates and advised me he had given me wrong information and that in general many patients do not like him, as he is very particular and only does things how he wants. Now 3 months later, I have received a bill from this office. One visit which they applied my insurance and the other where they did not. I called their billing department and informed them of their error and they told me that apparently my insurance was never on file. Which is impossible seeing as every time you come into the office they ask you for your insurance card. Lets just say I am never going back here again. Period. read more

Terrible. They refused my appt bc I didn't have my photo ID. Which was left at another appt bc they wanted a copy and forgotten. i have insurance, work in a hospital and Know all of my information. This place is a joke. If you are scared and have an issue, find another place. read more

My experience was very much like Joy N's. Kates is probably OK for Botox as he seems more interested in increasing the profits of the practice. If you have serious, medical dermatology issues I would seriously, strongly suggest looking elsewhere. read more

Tried to book appointment for my wife skin issues. Associate on the phone told me they not book appointments with a doctor first and she must be seen only by nurse first. I asked "So basically you want to charge her insurance twice?". Answer was "kind a close to that" That's a totally no respect to patient. read more

Place really went downhill. I used to see Patricia and she was amazing but she left the practice. Saw Seth Kates today and it was easily one of the worst medical appointments I've ever had. Horrible bedside manner. He didn't even review my patient forms (so why bother fill them out?). He literally tilted my face up and looked at the issue for a second. Then he told me what he thought it was and expected me to believe him just like that when again he looked at me for literally one second, not even close up. He then asked me what questions I had and when I questioned how it was what he said it was, he literally said "it just is". Then asked again if I had any other questions, I asked if he was sure it wasn't eczema as another doctor had said it was that before, his reply "why would it be eczema and only be there?" That's how I knew he didn't read my chart or why I requested the appointment, and I pointed out that I in fact do have eczema elsewhere. He then just said "maybe, but no it is this". And again he gruffly asked if I had any other questions, but at this point I felt so shut down and ignored, that I felt uncomfortable asking anything else. This man has horrible bedside manner. I expect my medical professional to be able to tell me more than "it just is" especially when he literally only inspected the issue for literally one second, and clearly didn't even bother listening to me and what I had done before, or read my chart. After that horrible experience, they then email me requesting a review, so here it is. Please go elsewhere where the staff will actually care about you, take the time to listen to you, and not just try to rush you out the door saying "it just is". read more

This office has the most unprofessional staff at the front desk. They honestly should not have a job working there. The ladies were extremely rude and degrading. I heard them talk openly about another patient making fun of them. They also tried to belittle and embarrass me. Something needs to be done about the staff that works there immediately. read more

- Laser Hair Removal - Just don't. Not at Worcester Dermatology. Ugh. Their technology they utilize is ancient ~ Sciton Joule. Current laser hair removal method that is most effective is the Syneron Candela. Please do your research... I didn't. Their technician, Kathy Rose is SO extremely haphazard with the laser, and you will have hair patches everywhere (!) She was always rushed, and never actually discussed what she was doing, or my progress. On one occasion I had to actually REMIND her to do a place where she totally forgot to hit with the laser! I had to go elsewhere and pay even more $ to clean up the patchwork hair mess that Kathy caused. Laser hair removal = total waste of money at Worcester Dermatology. Avoid. Willing to answer questions from anyone, with regard to my experience here... Oh, and another reviewer mentioned Worc Derm hitting insurance twice. On one occasion, Kathy wanted to provide a skin exam, and bill my insurance, instead of providing laser treatment. I'm there for laser, not an exam. I declined. And after that, got wise, and interviewed two laser removal offices, before choosing one with the best reviews, and technology. Don't cheap out on laser... it will cost you more in the end. I'll never go back. I saw P.A Stephanie and I timed my visit. I was in there for 4 minutes. It was like pulling teeth to get information on my perioral dermatitis and it was as if my questions annoyed her. It's a doctors job to serve their patients and I felt more like a burden. Never again. In four minutes all I got were cream samples full of parabens and antibiotics. Asked about natural remedies and got 0 answers. The rating is totally based on LONG WAITS for its clients. When one of the practitioners is running typically 45-60 min late and you have given up time from work and your own busy schedule for your appt, it is aggravating to say the least. Granted there are emergencies in the medical field, and afternoon appts seem to get the longer waits than morning appts...but it is just not fair. Our time is also valuable and appointments are made around other commitments we have. The office staff could not be any friendlier and apologetic but again, the long waits are not their fault but they tend to get the bulk of the negativity from clients. read more

Beware of Cool Sculpting treatment for areas of fat on your body. I paid $1350 to have my hips treated. Thirteen weeks later, there is zero change in my hips. During the consultation no mention was made of more than one treatment possibly being necessary. On the day of the treatment I was advised I might need more than one trestment. But I would need to pay another fee for a second round of treatments. I did not want to pour more money down the drain so I decided against it. read more

If you're thinking of having coolsculpting here DON'T. After having my flanks, love handles and abdominals done, there was NO change to my love handles or flanks. My abdomen developed a noticeable bulge. After consulting with Dr. CATES, he took the after photos and thought the after photos were the before photos. He kept questioning me asking me If I gained weight. I didn't. He told me he would send the photos to Zeiltec and or their parent company Alergan. After calling many times, he finally connected with me. He said the company disagreed and that he could do nothing. Now I am left with an ugly bulge below my navel, which the only way to get rid of is liposuction. I spent almost 4 grand for NOTHING but aggravation. They won't give you your money back or pay for your liposuction, another 4 to 6 grand. They don't give a rat's behind about you. read more

They never call to schedule appointments to let a patient know that their prescriptions can no longer be refilled. Went to have my face checked out in October. I had bumps that had been on my face for over 4 years. The doctor walked in, took one look at my face, and prescribed me a face wash (didn't work in the slightest) without ever asking any questions or even taking the time to look at my face for more than 10 seconds. Had to wait and go somewhere else (UMass) where they actually took the tie to diagnose what was wrong with my skin. Do not go here unless you want to not get any help. If I could give this office zero stars, I would. At the top of July, I saw my doctor for a non-steroid facial cream after years of using a steroid cream. (Never disclosed the damage a steroid cream can do to your skin long-term). It went well, prescribed me a cream and I payed my balance IN FULL. It was a month later and my prescription finally became available (after weeks of prodding and back and forth pre-auths between this office and my local pharmacy) only to be told I owe 300$ for a facial cream in the end. Naturally, no one is paying that kind of money and after a rude phone call with a gruff secretary who basically drove me off a call, I marched down there and spoke to the office manager and explained my situation. In a nutshell, I was told they can give me an alternate prescription but it would be the same price of around $300! She told me that there's only two (non-steroid) prescriptions they can offer me. Last I checked, there are millions with seborrheic dermatitis, and there are only TWO prescriptions that maintain it in the world of medicine? The office manager then added insult to injury when she had the NERVE to correct me in regards to the proper title of my doctor! The kicker, the best they could do for me in the moment was prescribe the SAME STEROID cream that they pulled me off of because they were concerned. I'm not kidding. So basically I spent a month of phone calls that got no where, and I gave them a reasonable "donation" (and when I say donation, I mean the office bill), and my condition has not changed whatsoever. Here's the best part... Today I received a bill in the mail for my visit at the beginning of the month (after paying the balance already). Conclusion: This office is clearly controlled by a medicine vendor that only wants them to use their specific products. They don't care about a patient's condition. They're rude and snooty workers (especially the bitter secretaries). And lastly, I will never waste my time or money at Worcester Dermatology again. read more

Can I review for less than one star? I went to see this office for a pre-cancerous spot check. Five minutes with the doctor, one spot of liquid nitrogen, and my insurer was billed $450. I did have a co-pay of $137, which was less terrible, but the sheer audacity of $450 leaves me breathless, and THAT is why insurance premiums are so high. read more

My first experience with this ofice was awful and degrading. When I first arrived in the front office the ladies in the office were extremely rude. They were very loud and rather obnoxious. I went back to the front counter and not one person could give me a moment of their time, due to being on their cell phones was more important. Their was one girl who from past visits I think is a nurse or a medical assistant. She has her feet on the desktop playing on her phone, I was beside my self. I have skin issues and it has caused me problems and I have searched high and low for a Dermotology office that fits my needs and after my last experience, I was compelled to search again, which led me to Firstcare Dermotolgy on Winthorp St in Worcester. I was blown away, I didnt have wait 40 minutes for a 5min visit, very knowledgeable and I have seen major improvment, for the first time I feel like I matter. I also seen some familair faces there which made me even more comfortable. Sometimes its worth shopping around I guess. read more

The only reason my rating is a one is because i cannot rate zero. First of all I called to set up an appointment and was never asked what the consultation was in regards to. So upon my first visit i waited around for about an hour to meet with a doctor for a total of five minutes just to be told I would have to come back to see another. I live about an hour and a half away so to say that I wasted my time and money on this first trip is an understatement. The second appointment was nearly as disappointing, the doctor I spoke with didn't seem to have a very good grip on what he was talking about and to be honest was a bit condescending. On top of all this I received two bills in the mail from this place. One was due to an erroneous insurance filing because someone on their end had no clue what they were doing. Luckily a call to my insurance company remedied this issue rather painlessly.The second was a request for me to make a co-payment that I had already made on the day of the follow up visit. I called and explained that I had already made this payment and refused to make another. Needless to say this didn't get me far because since I no longer had the receipt it became a he said she said and guess who won. So I reluctantly made another co-payment on the latter in a series of completely disastrous doctor visits. I do not think I have ever encountered so many complications from interacting with a single business before. I've never been told that I failed to make a payment that I know I did not and am praying to god that this is the last in a series of extremely unfortunate events with this company. read more
