I met Dr. Poulos when she was working at Milford Hospital - my initial consult was probably 5 or so years ago. She's very blunt, but so am I, and she's very informative- in regards to what she thinks will be the best course of action for you with reference to your concerns. But over the last 1.5 years there's been continual problems that I have brought up. DR. Poulos had done a procedure called Precision TX on my neck and chin. For that I had given her a positive review. The issues she was to correct were gone. But I noticed what almost looked like a jowl forming on my right side after that procedure. When I brought this up two weeks ago to the nurse and to the doctor herself -the nurse stated she couldn't really notice it, looked like asymmetry to her which everyone's face has, but I desired the doctor's opinion. She comes in and as her usual self - and I'm used to it - bluntly says "oh that's age." So I guess I aged right after the procedure. She said my only option was to do a mini face lift to permanently get rid of it. Really? Well her office took a bunch of pics-you would have thought that you would have told me I could just get the mini lift before I dished out 1000s of dollars for this Precision TX procedure. But let's have her get the procedure & then tell her she's aged in a few months and now needs a mini face lift? What they do not know is that I did have two more opinions - both plastic surgeons are located in Providence. They do believe the Jowl was caused from the Precision TX. They don't believe that I need a face lift they think I'm too young for it, but Dr. Poulos had no problem bringing it up. They said my right side cheek is not symmetrical, under my lower cheek I've lost volume and that Restylane injections in those areas with some back into the jawline (which was lipo'ed during Precision TX) would resolve the problem I saw. They both said it's temp I'll always need the fillers now, so that's money that is on top of the surgery I just paid for. Fix one thing, and she created another issue. One should also note that YOUR time does not matter to this office. There's a reason why this office is giving money off if you do reviews. They're trying to erase or push down the bad ones. So when they are giving us cards that say money off if you review they are violating TOS with not only yelp but with Realself which she also wants reviews on because she's got bad ones there too. So just know when you see reviews coming in lately, they're offering some money off - not much but they're basically paying for a good review. Also within the last year and a half they've canceled on me continually. I've brought this up to the office manager & she said to me that "Dr. Poulos is a surgeon, she or her nurses can't help emergencies that arise." But they don't care that they cancel on you when you have your own clients at an obvious loss of pay. Have I ever been offered money off for my loss of pay for I believe the 4 times they've canceled on me this year alone? Never. They also forgot to even schedule one particular follow up appt after I had my surgery done because Dr. Poulos asked why I was still wearing my compression mask. Oh, I don't know? Because last I knew that's the last instructions I was given. Dr. Poulos was like oh no I was wondering why I hadn't seen you sooner - I thought you canceled. No I didn't, that is their way of operating not me. They just forgot to schedule a follow up. Professional. Not quite. And when I had to reschedule this surgery I did so three months in advance because I was buying a house and could not put that type of money on my card or take it out of savings. They charged me a 150.00 rescheduling fee three months prior to surgery?! I've let ALL go because the Botox she was using before that did work helped and the chin and neck were fixed. But to find out that there was a mistake made by two other professionals confirming is pretty sad. I was thrilled that Dr. Poulos could fix what she did. Wasn't expecting a problem on my right lower cheek and pain still in that area 6 months later. There's no pain on the other side. The two plastic surgeons I went to all in the same day said most lasers won't do much and are a waste of money. They also said that I'm too young for a mini face lift that can also create more issues. So when you see an array of good reviews after mine, just know she's been getting other bad reviews and so she's offering money off to write a good one. Paying for reviews. So ethical. Also the letter that went out to you guys was dated 8/5. I had my consults on 8/6. Not getting my face ruined again when I thought she was doing a great job on the chin but told by two other professionals that was not the case with my cheek. Dr. Poulos is not only a brilliant surgeon but an extremely talented artist. I had a face lift, eyelid, dermabrasion procedure and could not be more happy. In less than 2 weeks I feel and look pretty damn good! The swelling is still present as it will take time to subside, but I am able to face the public with little makeup. She did exactly what I wanted, she did not persuade me to do anything I didn't want. Dr. Poulos was extremely professional and very attentive to my needs. I went to see Dr. Poulos for removal of my breast implants and mastopexy. My experience with her and her staff was incredible. Upon my consultation, I was so nervous as I had my breast implants for twelve years and had a less than satisfying experience with a different surgeon then. Dr. Poulos saw how nervous I was during my consultation and spent almost two hours with me discussing what the next steps would be and how she could help. She spoke directly to the point and did not sugar-coat anything, which I was very grateful for. I didn't want a Doctor who filled my head with maybes, I wanted someone to say, this is the body type you have and this is exactly how it will change. I found great comfort in how she spoke. Surgery day came, again, I was so nervous but the outcome was so much better than I anticipated it to be. I went home to recover and was amazed with how little bruising and pain I had. My pain was easily managed with tylenol and my bruising was only a few yellow spots under my breasts. Her office called me the next day to check in and continued to call leading up to my follow-up appointment. My follow up appointments with her and her staff have been wonderful and they continue to be attentive and supportive even as I am 6 weeks post-op. I find it hard to articulate the words to describe what Dr. Poulos has done for me. She has been a light in a time of darkness and has given me my femininity back. I had weight loss surgery on July 3, 2013 and have lost 175 pounds. I'm at my ideal weight and do strength training every day. Obviously, after that amount of rapid weight loss, cosmetic surgery was a necessity. Dr. Cynthia Poulos came highly recommended by Dr. Donald Czerniach of U Mass Medical, and he was the surgeon who performed my vertical sleeve gastrectomy. Dr. Poulos was certainly a wonderful choice, and I began my journey with Dr. Poulos with a Brachioplasty bilat (arms) and that was followed by an Abdominoplasty. I followed Dr. Poulos' recommendation for the method she wanted to use, and I'm so happy I did. With Dr. Poulos, the wise thing to do is to "just do as she recommends." The latest surgery was my thigh lift on August 7th and I'm healing well. Dr. Poulos is a well-versed, well skilled surgeon who pays attention to detail. She gives you "the bottom line" of what you need done; how she wants to do it; and what you need to do as a patient to complete the successful cycle. I'd expect and want nothing less!!! This is my health and my body that I've now devoted over two years to re-sculpt and re-vitalize to a state of superb health. I am a registered nurse and my husband a physician, we are in no way immune to the different types of "surgeon" personalities, and realize that a very good surgeon can sometimes have an odd personality. That being said, I am only commenting on my first impression of Dr. Poulos. My appointment was scheduled for 3:30, I finally saw her at 4:37. She entered the room and told me to please put my cell phone away, as I wouldn't be needing it for the appt. Did I just mention that I had just waited over an hour.........not to mention that I had my phone to show her some photos of my desired results. Never once did she apologize for me having to wait over an hour. To make a long story short, save your 100$ for the consult. She was rude and condescending and didn't listen to what I had to say, referred me to her nurse instead of addressing questions/concerns herself. She was noticeably rushed. Dr Poulos doesn't know the meaning of bed side manner . And when I told her over and over , something was wrong and she kept brushing me off .. It wasn't until my infection was so bad that my implants had to be completely removed that she finally admitted something was wrong . My implants had to be completely removed and I was left with horribly saggy skin and looking deformed , of course she wasn't there when I woke up from surgery .. But she claimed 'she saved my life' oddly when I went five years later to get my implants fixed .. I did not name her .. I just said a cold bitch and explained what happened .. I visited Cynthia's office in August of 2015. I wont refer to her as a doctor throughout this review because I really don't think she should be considered one. The first time I met with her I was inquiring about a breast reduction. She was okay the first time I met with her saying I was a good candidate but it is hard to get approved. She did not give me a lot of information about a breast reduction at all but I had her send my info to my insurance company. After that I did not get approved the first time so I changed insurances, went to physical therapy for my back for 1 month and went to her again in August of 2016. This time my experience was HORRIBLE. She did not even reintroduce herself. She asked me why I switched insurances saying that was not a good idea. I had gained about 5 pounds since I saw her last summer but for this review I want to tell you that I am in no way a fat or obese person. I weigh about 160 pounds and have DDD size breasts. She told me that I had a "rapid weight gain". Told me I should go see weight watchers and made me feel so terrible about myself. Now if I truly knew that I had a significant amount of weight to lose I would understand but it was out of left field for me. It was like I was wearing a black shirt and she was telling me it was white. She made me cry and just kept going on and on. Then when you are going for a breast reduction they ask you to take off your top so they can send pictures to insurance. By this point I had tears running down my face and the nurse (who was so so so nice) was the only one who was being nice in that room. Also when she came in to the room I still had my bra on and she made fun of me for going for a breast consultation and keeping my bra on. Just so you know I am 21 years old and I was by myself and nervous. I thought her bedside manor was terrible. After all of that she told me I would never get a breast reduction and to hope "someone was on my side." I ended up leaving in tears then I called the following week and told them not to send any of my info to insurance because I was no longer going through her. I also had a nice woman call me and email me about my experience. It is sad because Cynthia actually runs this practice and she had people doing this for her. And her staff is SO wonderful, she just is not. But it I am glad to say that after seeing her I went to this AMAZING plastic surgeon in Chestnut Hill near Boston. His name is Dr. Sumner Slavin and he is so nice. I met with him in his actual office which I never did at Cynthia's. He gave me SO MUCH info about breast reductions..never weighed me because after seeing me that was not important to him. For anyone interested in getting a breast reduction, what is important is how much in grams they are going to take out which Cynthia never told me. This is for insurance to cover your surgery. Please do yourself a favor and do not go to this woman. I wish I read reviews about her before wasting my time because surgery was for medical reasons. As a 22 year old registered nurse I had made an appointment regarding an important insecurity of mine after a lot of thought. I felt extremely judged for being young and even felt questioned for having the job that I do at such a young age. I felt as though Dr. Poulos not only had an odd personality, but let her personal judgment get in the way of her professional attitude. She is not a plastic surgeon I would recommend and to be honest I left her office feeling very upset after the way I was treated. Very disappointed. Hello, unfortunately I had to hit one star to write a review, I would give her NO STARS if yelp would allow it. So I'lll add the star based on her nice staff. This woman did a revision in 2015 due to a rupture found by an ultrasound for a completely different issue. First of all after my 3rd apt I finally asked her if she did not say "hello" or greet her patients when she entered the room as a professional practice or was it just me. She said she was busy. One week later she had to do another surgery to give me a pump because almost my entire breast was black from such a bad hematoma. That revision had to be re-done at her expense less then a year later due to a couple of reasons, one of which was that they were completely unsymmetrical. She stated it fell out of the pocket which was noticeable after only a few months, both of my my implants were practically in my arm pits. The 2nd time she opened me up to correct her mistake she voided the warranty on my new implants but stated that she had such a great relationship with her Rep that it wouldn't be a problem. I was willing to purchase new implants in order to keep my warranty and make them slightly larger (which I did not really want) but figured they would fit better in the pockets. Again she said "No" her relationship with her rep would cover me. She gave me a 30 day follow-up, but I still had many questions about the procedure because they were still very uneven. She refused to se me for my 90 day F/U. I was told I was only allowed to see an office staff person even after I had asked them my questions and they were unable to answer them. After all they were not in the surgery room I had had surgical questions. She still refused to see me. She sent me an e-mail wishing me well telling to go somewhere else. Which I did with all the surgical notes notes and the new surgeon was appalled. Not only do I have an 8 inch scar under one breast and a 7 inch scar under another which the new surgeon said was 3X bigger then they should been, he gave me list of other mistakes she made. I was told these were the worst implants ever seen. Now 2018, I go for a mammogram due to a painful lump near my arm pit....its a mass of silicone she left inside of me. Oh, BTW she did rupture my other implant when she did the first revision. So naturally the Dr at the hospital suggested I contact her, I did and like all the other issues she took NO ACCOUNTABILITY, in fact she never even responded. So if you want to get BUTCHERED and treated like any issue or question is all your fault go to this woman. Additionally, one of her staff members recommended that I use POT/THC to help with the pain I was having. I have many doctors and I've had many surgeries, but none of them suggested I smoke pot. Dr. Poulos is the WORST surgeon I have ever met and I will always be reminded of her by the painful lump of free floating silicone she left me as a little gift. SHE SUCKS! read more

Dr. (And I use that term loosely) has no idea of bedside manner. I was new to the area and my primary care recommended her for a breast reduction. I never should have proceeded with her but after fighting my insurance for the surgery I just didn't have it in me to start over. She dismissed all of my concerns as trivial and portrayed an attitude that I was wasting her time following the surgery. She did not make me the size I requested and told me I would look silly that size as I was too fat and would be out of proportion. I'm not thin but at 160 lbs I wouldnt say Im obese. She even made fun of my tan lines. I had a bad reaction to the staples she used and for 14 weeks had gaping holes that kept opening along the incisions. She told me "to just pick the staples out with tweezers" like it was nothing. I am left w huge scars and lumps. She told me my pain was all in my head. It has been a year now since the surgery andI have gone to a different doctor who advises redoing the scars. She also said I had nerve pain from all the damage and gave me meds for that. Dr. Poulos may be wonderful at injecting botox but I would never let her near me again. No doctor should make you feel worse about yourself. ! read more
