This gym has gone from being one of the biggest and most successful Workout World locations in New England to a complete disappointment. Under the previous manager, Danny, this gym was run with pride, passion, and a genuine focus on the members. He cared about the people who came through the doors, supported local charities, worked with the community, and created an atmosphere where members and employees actually felt like they were part of something. Unfortunately, since the company replaced him with the current management, this gym has gone downhill dramatically. The current management has shown a lack of care for the members, the staff, and the overall condition of the facility. The gym has lost the sense of community and professionalism that once made it stand out. Equipment is constantly broken and left unusable for months at a time with little to no urgency to repair or replace it. Despite membership prices increasing over the years, there have been no major improvements, upgrades, or new equipment added to justify the higher cost. Members are being asked to pay more while receiving less. The gym may be clean on the surface, but the priorities seem completely misplaced. Time and effort are spent on small, low-impact tasks while bigger issues that actually affect members continue to be ignored. For example, areas like the bottom of the water fountain are cleaned consistently, but broken equipment, organization, and improving the overall member experience seem to be pushed aside. Cleaning is important, but focusing on minor details while ignoring major problems shows a lack of understanding of what members actually care about. The biggest issue with this location is the current management. The manager has removed almost all of the previous staff members who helped make this gym a welcoming and enjoyable place, leaving only a couple of employees along with the manager's sister. The difference in the atmosphere is obvious. The remaining non-management staff members are still helpful and professional, but the management team has created an environment where members often feel ignored. The front desk is frequently left unattended or difficult to access because management is often unavailable when members need assistance. There are many times when the manager and her sister are away from the desk, taking smoke breaks outside, or sitting behind the desk on their phones instead of being focused on helping members, addressing concerns, or maintaining the standard this gym used to have. Seeing management appear disengaged while members are waiting for help creates a very poor impression and shows a lack of professionalism. The gym has also become increasingly disorganized. Weights and dumbbells are constantly left scattered around, equipment areas are not properly maintained, and the overall environment feels neglected compared to what it used to be. A gym that was once built around community, motivation, and customer service now feels like a place where members are simply expected to keep paying while the quality continues to decline. My experience reached a new low when I tried to cancel my membership. I had to spend time searching for an employee just to find out what the process was, only to be told I needed to email the financial department and that I would still be charged for another month because of their cancellation policy. The entire process felt unnecessarily difficult and showed a lack of respect for members. It is extremely disappointing to see what this location has become. Workout World used to be a place people were proud to be members of, but poor management decisions have completely changed the experience. I hope the company recognizes how far this gym has fallen and brings in leadership that actually cares about the members, the employees, and rebuilding the community that made this location successful in the first place read more

Have been trying to cancel for months. No contract. Can't seem to get anyone to cancel even after repeated calls and emails. Do not give this gym any money. Furthermore, they subcontract out trainers to a terrible company that is pretty much just a scam (Redwood Training). Stay away. read more

If you are on the lookout for a gym that requires you to pay double to access the entire place, then you've found your gym! For $20 per month, you will get reduced access, reduced hours and reduced equipment. There is nothing quite like a gym that will peace meal their wares to you if you opt for a more affordable monthly rate. Want to use the battle rope and medicine balls? Some alternative stuff? Be prepared to pay $40+ per month, otherwise they won't let you in that room. Personally I think this is a very poor and somewhat insulting business model. There are other gyms available in NB that offer you more for your money, including the YMCA and Ever Fitness. Steer clear of the WOW money grab. I'll give them a generous 2-star rating for cleanliness and amount of available equipment. Too bad you can't use all of it. read more

Signed a contract with workout world last Dec 2019. Sense the Covid thing i been trying to cancel my contract and pay the 60 dollar fee. After going to the Kings Highway location. I asked them to cancel my contract with the money in pocket to pay for whatever fees. They told me they could not cancel my contract that i had to do it online, and should me how to do it. So i went home to do as they suggested, after opening the MyiClub and going to the users agreement section the link to cancel was removed. I also pulled up a letter on the site stating all cancellations need to be done at your Work Out World location. So needless to say i went back to the Club they told me the same thing. That they could not cancel it had to be done online and proceeded to try and show me how to do it again. I told them you should me last time and the Cancellation request link is not on the MyiClub website it was removed , and i showed them the letter i got form the site stating i had to cancel and the work out world location i am form. Again they sent me back to the website and gave me a phone number to call which is ABC financial 3rd party money collection for Work out World Liston long story short Work out shut down the Cancellation request link on their website trying to i'm going to say me from cancelling so i am stuck paying for monthly fees and staying home I haven't been there since the Covid thing 8 months and been charged ever moth. As far as i am concerned these people at work out World are a Shame and a Scam, and they don't care about anyone. I belong to this gym. They have great hours (like 5am to midnight on weekdays!), a variety of cardio and weigh equipment, assorted fitness classes, and even babysitting, as well as a huge parking lot. They used to have a hiphop class that I really liked, but the instructor left. I wish they had more fitness classes into the evening (like after 7 or 8pm). They also need to have more than 6 channels available on the built-in TVs on the cardio equipment! When I went to the WOW in Brockton the full set of basic cable was available. It's unlikely you'll ever pay $19.99/month (as their ads state) without paying a hefty fee to join, but you can usually negotiate your way into a decent gym fee/month. read more

I recently came back to this gym, and boy was it a mistake. It is so disgusting! The mirrors always have hand prints all over them. The women's only room has a dirty rug that looks like it hasn't been vacuumed in years! Plus it is torn in some places. The staff members never say hello, goodbye or have a nice day at the front desk. The manager, Jacob doesn't care about the issues expressed. They should have someone running that place who takes pride in their facility and that actually gives a s***. The bathroom sink had a bucket under the sink for awhile, which is pretty sad. How much is this gym making a year? Well make sure you know this: They charge you a once a year club fee of $49.99 within the first month of your membership. I feel uncomfortable here, and will definitely cancel my membership a.s.a.p. I think you should go anywhere else but here. read more

I joined WOW in New Bedford the other day and went today for my first workout. The gym is spacious and the equipment is laid out orderly and generously spaced apart. My only complaint is instead of the workers sitting behind the desk chit chatting they could be cleaning the filthy mirrors. The dirty mirrors really detract from the appeal of the gym especially when you're using the mirrors to execute good form when performing an exercise. I'm constantly looking at my reflection in the mirror to make corrections and adjustments to my form. The hand prints, sneeze projectiles, sweat marks and scuffs on the mirrors are just staring me in the face - it's really distracting. When I go there tomorrow - I am going to approach and say something to the manager and I'll report back on how poorly or well my observation is received. read more

Has everything I need in a gym, but the purpose of this review is to point out the privacy issue of the locks in the bathroom not just being unable to lock but the hinges are loose. Then you have a lot of water damage in the ceilings where the exercise equipment is. All that damage is creating mold! read more

Gym membership is Ok, they advertise $10.00 a month and as they take your credit card notify you that it is actually $29.99 because everyone pays to be able to use other WOW gyms that is just how it is. DO NOT JOIN PERSONAL TRAINING there. Staff is not very knowlegable, they will take your money and not give you a trainor according to thier contract up to 6 months. There is no motivation or support. The Manager will claim to be there for you, but only if you don't complain about his and the programs inadequacy. You can opt out if pay an extra month and 1/3 of the membership. If they have your card number they could care less cause they will rip you off anyway. I should have known better after hearing co-workers say they cancel appts and don't return calls. read more

I reached out to this company on July 29 about canceling my membership due to a change of financial status due to COVID. I contacted them through their contact us feature on their website and when I got no response I then reached out to the gym I attended directly on Facebook messenger. I had go message them 3 times before someone answered me instead of just viewing my message. They gave me an email to use to contact about cancelling stating that then someone will be in touch with me. I sent the email and then two days later another and then 2 days later another until I had sent 4 emails in all without any response at all. At this point I recontacted my gym on Facebook messenger asking them another way to contact since I hadn't gotten an answer to my emails. They again left me on read. This is some of the worst customer service I have ever received and I cannot believe how difficult they are making it to cancel. We signed our daughter up for a membership as a Christmas present and the experience was terrible. Stay away from the trainers, they told us we could sign up for two months and then cancel anytime. What they forgot to tell us was that there would be a $500 cancellation fee! In addition to calling our daughter the week before Christmas and spoiling the surprise (they forgot it was a present), we are now having to fight with corporate over the ability to cancel. The manager, Jason, called and apologized that he misled us, but has done nothing to help correct the problem! In addition, the trainer that my daughter ended up was late to the first two appointments and then didn't show for the third. Very frustrating... read more

Good bang for the buck. I can go to the New Bedford or Taunton location. Both are good, and they give me what I want. Machines are always maintained and they work well for me. Not the fanciest place in New Bedford, but the price is perfect for me. read more
