In my experience, Nicole was pretty much screening me for a position for a local business in the area. I received a phone interview with Nicole after submitting my application through indeed.com. The interview lasted about 15 minutes. It was fun, it was informative, and it made me really look forward to the in-person interview. She told me almost everything I needed to know about the company I was interviewing for and what I should be looking forward to. The correspondence was great, with a mix of e-mails and phone calls (yes, cell phones are still capable of this function). When the face-to-face interview took place, Nicole did a great job of prepping the candidates by giving us the background of the hiring company - what they do, where they started, how they got to where they are (basically filled in any gaps that were left open after we did our own research - yes, RESEARCH - it's what Google is for, folks...or encyclopedias depending on the situation, I guess). We then met with the business owners of the company looking to add to their team. Overall, the process was extremely pleasant, Nicole was wonderful (and this isn't a biased opinion just because I got hired, I promise), and I never felt left in the dark, as everything was made plain and clear. If given the choice, I would absolutely work with Smarter HR Solutions again. Well, I guess that doesn't matter. What really matters is what the company who used Smarter HR Solution thinks, right? At that time, I understood when I was told I needed more experience or additional assessments before qualifying for certain positions. Instead of giving up, I took that feedback seriously. Over the years, I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees, gained experience in state government, higher education, secondary education, and several other professional roles. I continued building my résumé because I believed that eventually I would become the type of candidate they were looking for. Over the past four months, I've applied for numerous positions and reached out to multiple recruiters. Unfortunately, the outcome has remained the same. Whether it was a full-time position or even an internship in my degree field, I was consistently passed over. At first, I was frustrated because I felt I had done everything I was supposed to do to become a stronger candidate. My goal has never been to remain stagnant. I believe in appreciating where you are while continuing to grow professionally and create better opportunities for yourself and your family. Over time, however, my perspective changed. I realized that not every staffing agency is the right fit for every candidate, and that's okay. Sometimes an organization simply isn't the place where your career is meant to take off. If you've had a similar experience, don't view it as a loss. There are many excellent staffing agencies throughout Texas that may be a much better fit for your background and career goals.
