We had a terrible experience at another facility, and I was worried my son wasn't going to be open to trying again. Mr. Petrov's approach to him was so inviting that my son jumped right in, and even when he got a little intimidated Mr. Petrov did not make him feel bad and after a couple of minutes just watching with me he was right back into it. I am just so thrilled that he participated because the program is excellent and I think it's really going to help my son develop both physically and emotionally. The woman who leads it has always been the same (and I feel terrible for not knowing her name.) She is high energy, great with kids, and her super power is knowing every child's name. It's amazing! The kids are led through a ton of different gymnastics courses that pretty much any age can do. My son is four and loved it. It's interactive enough that they usually aren't just standing in line waiting but always moving. The room upstairs is then used for food and cake time. Then back downstairs for free play, which the children always love. Parents can keep their shoes on, which I appreciate. Kids are barefoot. They always take a group picture that they organize so the birthday party walks away with a wonderful picture.

It was very crowed up there, too. The class started on time, and for a small group of 2 years olds, they really got a workout. (and the parent too) The rule is, no one on the floor without a teacher and for the little ones, a parent also participates as an extra helper. There was a routine that the group went through, which included fun and challenging activities. They use a balance beam, a rock wall, a zip line into a foam pit, and a bunch of floor exercises. My grandson was very happy to be there, and I was really happy to have been able to come see him burn off lots of toddler energy. The parking area was quite crowded but there was enough parking and there was also a swim school attached to the gymnastics building. (He also does swim lessons, which he also loves.) The facility is not very modern but then, it has everything at reasonable prices.

One of the best benefits of a YMCA membership is being able to access multiple locations throughout the Tampa area. My only wish is that this particular location was a little closer to my house!

They cover the fundamentals of Tae Kwon Do and keep it fresh on a weekly basis. The classes are well organized. Kids are always interacting, respectful and seem to always have fun. The after school program runs for an hour Monday-Friday. An hour of Martial arts lessons followed by Homework time. No Tae Kwon Do on Fridays, kids get to play and socialize. Program runs for $55 per week if you choose to drop off your child yourself, or you can do $75 a week to include transportation from school. Once a month they do Parent night out aka Friday fever. Kids stay until 10pm, enjoy games, pizza, etc... It's a good time, still, at $30 a head, I find it a bit much. They do stretches, and martial art drills on a daily basis, I'd like to see a little more exercising though... push ups, crunches, etc. Have yet to try their summer program, it sounds very promising.

This is a family run business and the owners are all deeply involved in their practice. Royal Dragon is not just another "McDojo" - you have to put your all into this and earn it. They push students to be the best they can be. As each person at Royal Dragon is taught, you are there to compete against yourself, to achieve more than you thought you could at the beginning. When you witness the black belts of Royal Dragon practicing their art, you get a sense of the community and the level of excellence that all students are encouraged to reach for.

Awhile back they had an open house in which he sat outside watching a video on his phone...acted like he was being bothered and didn't want to talk....very unpleasant and not pleasant at all. Once I was considering taking classes here but after speaking to the owner, I'll never even consider it again. They're many martial artists out there who are great to talk to and at least act like they enjoy what they do instead of this jerk. Don't go here!!
