If you're looking for a masterclass in how to lose customers in record time, WORLD MARKET 742 NW Loop 410 in San Antonio has perfected it. I was there on March 31, 2026. I wish there was a way to give ZERO stars! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels less like a welcoming retail space and more like an inconvenience to the staff. Basic customer service--greeting shoppers, offering assistance, or even acknowledging someone at the register--seems completely absent. Instead, you're met with indifference at best and outright rudeness at worst. The staff (cashier and floor sales assistant) appear disengaged and unwilling to help with even the simplest questions. Asking for assistance feels like you're interrupting them, and the responses you get are often curt, dismissive, or downright unprofessional. It's clear that customer experience is not a priority here. The cashier experience is just as frustrating. Don't expect friendliness, patience, or even basic courtesy. Transactions feel rushed and cold, with no attempt at conversation or appreciation for your business. It leaves you wondering why anyone would choose to shop here when there are plenty of other stores that actually value their customers. I've always loved browsing World Market stores. It's the best place to find unique gifts for someone or stocking stuffers. They have items from all over the world like furniture, home decor, unique snacks and they even have a wine selection that includes mead. This location is behind Alamo Drafthouse Park North in the shopping area. There is plenty of parking near the store but also some across the street if needed. You can sign up for their rewards program for free and get a coupon that can be used the same day. They even had a section with esoteric items like sage, Palo santo and other mystical decor like items to ward off ojo (the evil eye), I see you World market! I'm planning to go back to pick up some fun snacks for a picnic. Whether you are looking for something aesthetically pleasing, for an adventurous palette or even something a little witchy, this place is a fun way to spend a couple hours and leave with some fun items. My cashier was lovely, patient, kind and totally respectful. But the manager was the complete opposite. She did not even address me as a customer, she randomly started repeating how the item that I wanted wasn't in the store, even though I just walked into the store and she would have no clue if these were in stock or not, and plus I already saw online that they were in stock. I kept my composure and a smile on my face, and my cashier remained polite to me. The manager looked ridiculous, as I walked right over to the section of the store and picked up the item that I needed. I'm glad my cashier was able to exercise human decency and respect all customers. As for the manager, maybe leave retail and customer service since you can't handle treating all of your customers with the same respect and positive attitude. Bless her heart. read more

I haven't been to a World Market since visiting one in Atlanta. I wasn't even looking for it. Just pulled out of a Target and there it was across the street next to a strip of shopping areas. I wasn't looking for anything in particular but everywhere I looked I saw things that reminded me of my Sunshine (mushrooms). The layout is as bohemian as expected. I love it. I decided just to walk around and see if I would be tempted. The woven baskets are always a temptation but I have no space for them. Home fragrances are my weakness so of course they're at the front of the store. I was tempted to buy some candles but the amount of fragrance in the scents I loved were pretty low. I continued to walk through. I love the home furnishings but those sofas/sectionals were pretty low to the ground but comfy. Once I left the home furnishings, I wandered off into the world foods section. I would have loved to have grabbed a lot of things but I exercised restraint. I ended up purchasing some incense that was quite fragrant. And of course I had to leave with something mushroom related because of Sunshine. read more

Came into store to make a large purchase of 6 chairs. I wanted to see one prior to ordering but could not find displayed. Website indicated they had some in stock. I was told that probably there was a chair in a box not yet built but it was almost closing time so they would not be getting chair out of box for me to see. Try the other store we reminded them that the other store would be 'closed!'. Oh and they wouldn't let 2 other customers behind us come into the store because it was almost closing time! LAZY! They have a wide variety of items that either came from other countries or to have appeared to come from other countries. They sell mainly non-perishable food and furniture. I think that some of their furniture quality is subpar. And a lot of their food items can be found in HEB. They don't sell anything that is super spectacular but once in a while, you can find good deals. The store is located in the building that faces Target on the corner. There is plenty of parking around the corner in the parking garage. On a hot summer day, park in the garage facing Target and then make a right out and a few steps away is the store. read more

Really disappointed that they discontinued their mustard selection! They used to have so many great mustards, from stone ground to dijon and everything in between. It's gone now. But they do offer a good selection of craft beers, most of which are warm, and imported. The wine selection sometimes has some good deals in there. What I like about this place is their coffee and sodas. They have a great selection of these items, and around the holidays, they always come out with some really cool imported things from funky countries that memorialize the holidays in weird ways. If I was a millionaire, I'd buy all of my home furnishings at World Market. They are so bohemian, colorful and earthy. Unfortunately, I am not a millionaire and I can't afford to spend 20$ on a single decorative pillow. I come here for the craft beer and off kilter spices. I scored a Hobbit "flavored" beer with Gollum on the label for 5$ and some local brews for less than 2$ a piece. I absolutely love the "build a 6 pack" things. I also love the unique spices, boxes of pasta and holidays items they sell. Staff is always courteous although not exactly overtly friendly or helpful but courteous and I LOVE the clearance items. Disappointed with their customer service. Spent the day shopping for modular sectional couches. Saw that World Market had a couple different choices so we stopped in. Found one we liked; however, the only one left was the floor model. It was completely sold out online and in San Antonio. I didn't want a discount, I just wanted the couch. The store refused to sell the perfectly good floor model to me. First and foremost, I completely recognize that is their choice, they don't have to sell me anything. However, their actions caused me to question their commitment to their customer. Why would the company want a large display of a product that you can't even buy??? And, won't be available for over 1/2 a month! And, the floor model did not say display only...it was priced and displayed no different than any of their other products. They did offer to sell me parts of the modular sectional, but not all of it. Hmmmm, the only thing worse than no couch is half a couch. I was new to World Market...never been there before. Instead of working with the customer, they refuse to sell the floor model. I left World Market with $1500 still in my pocket and a bad experience in my memory. Their business logic eludes me. 20 minutes later I am at COSTCO, I was not a member, but was considering joining and I saw online that they had modular sectionals. In a weird coincidence, the one we liked was sold out and back ordered...the only one left was the floor model. Still frustrated from my World Market experience I expected the same outcome. I was pleasantly surprised. COSTCO worked with me and earned my business and loyalty. I'm now a COSTCO member and the owner of a new sectional (they sold me the floor model). Holy moly never been more frustrated in a homestore. It took over thirty minutes to get help with a light fixture. Keep in mind, I came in knowing exactly what I wanted and where it was. They came and it took nearly another thirty for them to find the box in the back, I then go to check out (I'm doing that at the moment) I wait in like for about 15 minutes, get to the front and another employee doesn't know how to do an exchange. An exchange, not even a return. He then sends me to the other line where I'm now waiting. The experienced employee then checks me out with my one item and an exchange and takes over five minutes, knowing how long I have been waiting, and shows all 5 trainees surrounding her every step and they ask questions. She then tried to tell me my return isn't acceptable after I bought it yesterday and tells me that it says on the BACK OF MY RECEIPT that it's not returnable. So I go, "You're telling me that it tells me that it isn't returnable until AFTER I buy it?" and she says yes. This is completely illegal and false trade. So frustrating. read more

I am writing you today because of the in store experience I had yesterday evening at the Park North location in San Antonio. Your cashier was very unprofessional, rude and clearly showed a poor attitude towards me. I asked her to be patient because I wanted to see if I could find a coupon due to the amount I was about to spend (which the manager actually brought to my attention that there should be one and to check my texts) and no one was behind me in line at the time. She seemed very irritated and stated I should have ordered online then I could have received a 15% off coupon, however since I did not I am out of luck. That sentence alone is bothersome. I then said, well how about I do that and she could then consider me as a curbside or in store pick up customer. She said I cannot do so because when I submit the order online it would take 2 hours for the merchandise to get here. That makes absolutely NO SENSE. When I checked on line there were only 2 of the desks I was looking for available at this time...this statement - please clarify. I spent 435.00 dollars and the way she spoke to me was uncalled for. I saw more holes in her jeans than anything else and then to act like that just does not compliment your store...just FYI. When she actually checked me out she could not even ask an entire question. With attitude she said: credit OR debit. While my transaction was in the works another couple was behind me getting ready to check out. She literally gave me the receipt and dismissed me...no thank you, good evening...she made it clear that she wanted me to leave and started to address the next customers. I then asked her how about my rewards I should have some and could I have used them. She said well...it's 1 point for every dollar so 435pts. Gave me the receipt again and at that point I was just very upset - I did not want to say what I had to say. In the mean time the Manager and another young girl helped bring the chair and desk out and I asked to speak to her. I told her how I felt and that the girl clearly does not want to work, be pleasant to customers and she needs serious training. I'm sorry to inform you of this, but I find it important for you to know. I'm really upset about this experience. I know she could have given me the discount but mostly she treated me poorly. The customers are what keep this place going - people like that make customers NOT want to return. I would appreciate your response in regards to this. I love World Market's selection and they have some incredible deals for members, but this location feels a little cramped and cluttered compared to others I've visited. Also, we had multiple pricing issues at the register and had to do a return and still ended up paying more than we should have, which neither the cashier nor the manager seemed to understand or be able to fix. Aside from the fact that out of the 5 pieces of candy I bought, 3 were expired, their manager, Cole, seems to lack any kind of customer service skills. He doesn't seem to care and it shows. I had an issue with pricing, as many things are either marked incorrectly, not marked period, put in the wrong spot, or have "the wrong sign" placed in front of them.
