Down the trail, history meets modern day trail planning. In 1874 the H & TC Railway dammed the Cottonwood Creek to make a watering station for steam locomotives. It served the rail line until 1912 when a larger dam was needed and built downstream. While only remnants of the pump station remain, much of the original dam remains intact. Walking onto the trail I could hear the rush of the water long before I could see it. We just don't have things like this too much in Texas, especially in the middle of the city. It's a great place to enjoy a nature walk or take some photographs! Hats off to the city of Allen for making and maintaining this beautiful area for the community! Review #2102

You'll find carefully placed elements like the Walk of Honor, Wall of Honor, a Battlefield Cross sculpture, and commemorative plaques for every branch of the military. The thought and reverence behind every detail make it a sacred place to pause, reflect, and remember the cost of freedom. Even if you aren't visiting during one of their special ceremonies (which are powerful, by the way -- especially Memorial Day and Veterans Day events), just walking through the memorial any day of the year can move you to tears. Names etched in stone, flags flying proudly, and quiet seating areas shaded by trees create the perfect environment for reflection. It's also incredibly well-maintained. The gardens, the flags, the plaques -- everything looks like it's cared for by people who truly honor what this memorial stands for. If you're bringing kids after playing at Hope Park, this is a powerful opportunity to teach them about history, service, and sacrifice. This is a pretty good library for what I've done -- I always visit online and reserve books, then…read moredrop by to pick them up. It always seems loud in here so I wouldn't advise trying to get anything done where you need it to be quiet. I like that they have a drive-up book return too -- very convenient. This library does not participate with the Libby app -- not at the time of this writing -- so if you reserve an ebook, you'll need to download the app they do work with. They FINALLY got more parking added here -- it's been so tough to find parking but there's a long new section of spaces now.

Wowzers! What a beautiful building! The inside looked so nice I thought I was lost. I went to the…read morefront desk in the Loby and was greeted with a larger than life smile. The very nice Lady was all to happy to direct me where to go! When I got into the building inspection office it wasn't obvious what to do or who to talk to. There were 2 people sitting in what appeared to be a mock waiting room. I waited patiently in front of the counter for what seemed like an excessive amount of time. I was never acknowledged or directed where to go. I finally asked a fellow patron singing in on a clip board marked with a sign that said "Complete Application". He told me to sign in on the clip board and someone would eventually get to me. Overall the experience was good but they could stand to communicate more clearly with better signage.

The women at the front desks were so nice if you have any questions though. I attended the "Pumpkin with Pizzaz" event at the Smith Public Library. It was such a well organized free event (everything was provided). I had a good time putting together and designing my little fall pumpkin. Thank you to the ladies who organized and orchestrated such a fantastic event!!

And I have lived in 6 states, visited several and been to plenty of libraries all over the place. My mouse for my laptop clicks so I don't want to use it, I'm sticking with the touch pad on my laptop. I am going to do everything in my power not to sneeze, cough or breathe too loud. I'm in libraries and coffee shops quite a lot and have grown accustomed to hearing children's chatter, music or phone conversations. Not here though, it's old school quiet like libraries of yesteryear. There is a large, wonderful area for children but on this side of the library you don't hear them. I love libraries this size. There are chairs, desks, tables, love seats, study rooms, media rooms, meeting rooms and even vending machines for your snack break. The restroom is nice, big and clean. And books, of course, they have a huge selection and if I moved to Collin County, which I probably won't, I would likely frequent this location. I don't know anything about this neighborhood but this library is really nice.

It gives you access to ALL libraries in Collin county. Everyone should have a library card! They use the Libby app. The most wonderful app at that too! Easy to use and people friendly. Links you to all libraries. They offer 3d images of mapping plans for children to make their on designs. How cool is that! It's all in house. I think that's awesome to get kids interested in technology at an early age. I wish more people would be interested in being part of a library. It's so cool to have access to knowledge. It's free! I was surprised since the library in Houston all close at 6:00PM. Library is a place where we can being indoor with the AC and a restroom to use if need to. There are plenty of parking space here and there are some steps to go up to the main door and there is a ramp near the handicap parking space. My only complain is there is not enough tree planted area here for some shaded parking space. The first floor is the kids section. and downstairs is the adult section, they have stairs and elevators. There are pretty of chairs and table. There is a puzzle table where anyone can work on the puzzle and that was where we spend our time there. The staff here are very friendly by helping me to pronounce the name of the library was named after properly.
