Picnic table with a full meal left behind.

Maybe consider a group of volunteers to clean trash throughout the whole park. The disc golf course in specific. This was left on a table next to the practice basket. Clean up after yourself, it's a free park... treat it like it's your backyard. I understand the trash can limitation due to COVID, but can something be worked out? So much trash.

I am in love with this place! Been here twice and can't wait to go back. Driving in there are a few spots to park on your right but don't worry because if that's full just keep going. There's plenty of parking ahead. This park is a pretty decent in size and if you have kids they will love it here. Huge playground that made me wish I was a kid again. Also the coolest slide that all the kids seemed to love. Its in this beautiful garden with tons of flowers and plants and benches. Julia's Garden. There's a very touching plaque dedication there to her. Ok, now to the animals. My favorite part. There are turkeys (both don't seem very friendly so be careful of your fingers) and pigs, goats, deer, sheep, llamas and ostriches. Last trip there was a peacock but I didn't see him this time around. You can feed them corn that apparently they hand out now (I think I recall quarter machines last time I was there but couldn't find any this trip which was disappointing) but luckily kids drop stuff, haha, so I just scooped the corn off the ground and had plenty to feed the deer (my favorite) with. I saw at least 10 picnic areas with grills and also saw a sign for disc golf. Their open till 8 in the summer and close at 4 in the winter. Also, there's a steep hill when leaving and then a pretty abrupt turn so be carful and don't fly down that hill on the way out. Best part? FREE FREE FREE!! Go visit the animals!!

It's overall a great place. I've been here a ton of times. But as of October 2020 the animals look unhealthy and seem sad. Especially the donkeys. Their eyes are gloomy and depressed. The deer don't appear to be feed either, I noticed this when I saw them attack each other for the food.

    Cute park and play area!

Love this place! First of all, being a free zoo it doesn't get much better. They have deer which is unique to other zoos in the area, as well. They have 2 play areas too! One designed more for baby/toddler and one for older kids which is nice because I always worry about my daughter falling off equipment on playgrounds not meant for her age group. I went earlier in the day and it wasn't too busy either. We had time to walk around quite a bit and have a little snack on the tables available. I would highly recommend this to kill a couple hours with a toddler or kid!!

Update.. The park has been taken care of great. Tree's and brush have been cut and trimmed, and picnic tables replaced or fixed. It looks to be complete by late spring. The park staff has done a great job.

    At the playground. Awesome place

The zoo is constantly working on small improvements to improve the welfare of the species in the zoo, as well as the guest experience. For those of you with a Buttonwood Park Zoo membership, you're able to utilize your reciprocal benefits to get free admission here, which I think is a huge plus. I think unfortunately as of late, Capron Park Zoo has been hit with a few unfortunate tragedies. With the recent passing of Nyala, the African Lion female that lived alongside Ramses, with the transfer for Vicky the Sloth Bear to Washington DC's National Zoo, it's a bittersweet feeling to know that she's going to a facility with a bigger habitat, but the zoo loses another species. However, the zoo is still good in my opinion. I don't foresee spending much time here, especially in the winter months, but it's still worth a visit, especially in the warmer months due to more species on display, as well as the waterpark for the children. If you're hoping to avoid larger crowds though, winter is a very good time to visit regardless. The Amur Leopard, Lacey, is very active during this time, since the species is from Russia-Northern China area, she's very comfortable and active in the colder months, which is very cool to see. Same goes for the Red Pandas, which have a great indoor space as well for the warmer months for them to cool down. To me though I think Capron's indoor habitats work very well for them. Especially their tropical house, it's not the biggest around, but it's very beautiful. Tons of tropical birds, a Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman, and Red-Footed Tortoises. Again, the zoo is not the biggest, but I think that's not necessarily a bad thing. If you're hoping to have a quicker outing with your family, I think Capron suits the bill. Always worth a visit every year from me though. Exciting to see what they're planning for the future!

The number of animals there was extremely small and limited. Other than a Lion, who was hidden while sleeping in the back of its enclosure, there wasn't anything to be excited about. Friendly people, a variety of exhibits and just an overall good time. I sprung for the combo ticket that gave me access to the train and skylift. The train was very 'meh' and defiantly more for the kids. I enjoyed the skylift, its just high enough for you to get a Birdseye view above the park, but not so high to make you unconformable, and it goes at a great speed so that you can enjoy the ride. I was little surprised as there were a few exhibits that didn't seem enclosed like the flamingos, a couple of the birds, and the prairie dogs, I don't know how they keep them in the enclosers. Taking my time I was able to do the whole zoo in about 3 hours. Like most attractions, the concession options are grossly overpriced. Everything was outside, there were no inside exhibits except for one small building. Again, a great day overall and a return trip will be in order.
