I am happy they are closing the zoo. This is so depressing. We left so sad. Half of the animals were missing. The skunk, the leopard and many others chose to stay hidden or they were gone. The lion was not available, on hospice care. I think more animals should be on hospice care as well; so old energy-depleted and looking miserable. The python snake looked like she committed suicide; literally coiling hard on itself cyanotic and completely motionless. All the animals looked severely depressed. I did not make any eye contact with any animal. They were all looking away. The servals were hitting the walls. Only ones were sort of ok the Meerkats, they were seemingly mating. I promised myself long time ago not to go zoos. I do not like them. Never again. read more

My kid loves this zoo! It's pretty small, so it's perfect for toddlers. They have a cute splash pad during the summer and they have a lovely playground there. Some of the exhibits look a little outdated, but they're always renovating and improving, and they are AZA accredited so I trust that the animals are being well cared for. They do cute family events here (Halloween trick or treating, touch a truck, and Christmas tree lighting) which are a lot of fun! They also have the only Palawan porcupine on display in the US which is cool! read more

What a joke and waste of time and money. Thought we'd try something different and visit the Capron Park Zoo in Attleboro, Mass. Needless to say, it was a huge disappointment. The number of animals there was extremely small and limited. Other than a Lion, who was hidden while sleeping in the back of its enclosure, there wasn't anything to be excited about. Most of the other animals were also hidden while they were sleeping. It was a total joke. Other than the "zoo" being very clean, there wasn't much to enjoy or get excited about. read more

This zoo was fun but is very small and didn't have that many animals. I was expecting the place to be a lot bigger so I was kind of shocked when there wasn't that much going on. A few of the exhibits were also closed when I went, which made it even less animals to see. But nevertheless, I took my nieces because they have this little waterpark area, which was super cool that it's a part of the zoo. I did end up buying a family three pack membership because I found out that I could use this at several other zoos all around the United States and either get a discount offer or get in for free so it was just a no-brainer. The price alone for the zoo I felt was very reasonable. I didn't like the fact they didn't have any paper maps. They did everything virtual. I like to hold things in my hands to be able to navigate. But I guess that's the kind of world that we live in now where everything is just online. But the exhibits that we did see were nice the animals they appeared to be super close. And right outside the zoo they have a park area as well for the kids that's free. They have a decent size parking lot. The people who worked in the little shop were very sincere and genuine, and the prices were great for the stuff that they were selling in there. I didn't see any informational sessions at all no employees like educating on any specific animals or anything. So I guess it was okay. I wasn't really impressed. It's a very small zoo with not many animals. Maybe when they fix some of the enclosures and bring some of the animals back I can give it a go and change this review. But if you want something on a smaller scale, then you can bring your children here. read more

Capron Park Zoo is always a nice visit whenever I pair it with any other zoos in the local area. It is an AZA Accredited facility, and from speaking with some of the keepers, exhibit designs, and more people from this facility, I am certain that the welfare they provide for these animals is as good as it can be. The zoo is constantly working on small improvements to improve the welfare of the species in the zoo, as well as the guest experience. For those of you with a Buttonwood Park Zoo membership, you're able to utilize your reciprocal benefits to get free admission here, which I think is a huge plus. I think unfortunately as of late, Capron Park Zoo has been hit with a few unfortunate tragedies. With the recent passing of Nyala, the African Lion female that lived alongside Ramses, with the transfer for Vicky the Sloth Bear to Washington DC's National Zoo, it's a bittersweet feeling to know that she's going to a facility with a bigger habitat, but the zoo loses another species. However, the zoo is still good in my opinion. I don't foresee spending much time here, especially in the winter months, but it's still worth a visit, especially in the warmer months due to more species on display, as well as the waterpark for the children. If you're hoping to avoid larger crowds though, winter is a very good time to visit regardless. The Amur Leopard, Lacey, is very active during this time, since the species is from Russia-Northern China area, she's very comfortable and active in the colder months, which is very cool to see. Same goes for the Red Pandas, which have a great indoor space as well for the warmer months for them to cool down. To me though I think Capron's indoor habitats work very well for them. Especially their tropical house, it's not the biggest around, but it's very beautiful. Tons of tropical birds, a Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman, and Red-Footed Tortoises. Again, the zoo is not the biggest, but I think that's not necessarily a bad thing. If you're hoping to have a quicker outing with your family, I think Capron suits the bill. Always worth a visit every year from me though. Exciting to see what they're planning for the future! read more

Came here with my sister to attend their annual night event for adults only. It's a relatively small zoo, though given we went at night it was hard to see any animals though I expected some lights here and there but overall it's fine. It's probably a lot better to attend during the day. Plenty of parking so no worries there. read more

Had an animal encounter at Capron Park Zoo today, and it was PHENOMENAL! The zookeeper, Lino, was professional, informative, and entertaining. He helped us understand the importance of respectful and safe encounters, conservation efforts, and (best of all) specific information about each red panda's unique personality. Clearly, he loves his job and the animals in his care. We were able to visit the enclosure and view the red pandas up close. Loved every minute of this experience and would highly recommend it. read more

Tiny zoo. Tiny. Spent $25 here for two adults and a child. It took us maybe 30 minutes to go through all the exhibits. The had lions, emu, monkeys and several reptiles. Two of the exhibits were closed, the rainforest and the bridge. Kind of a bummer since it's a small zoo to begin with. The zoo was clean and the staff was friendly. It's a fine small zoo but they don't honor their reciprocal membership with Museum of Science members. We're supposed to get 4 adults in for free with the MOS membership but the staff here doesn't honor it & treats us like we're trying to rip them off whenever we visit. If you won't honor it, then get off the website that lists you as an MOS reciprocal member. Anyway, the zoo is very small, easily viewable in 45 minutes. The animals were fun. read more

For a non-resident at attleboro it was $18.50 for myself, and my four year old. Yesterday, The front desk staff (boy selling the tickets and cashier for the store) was miserable. Seriously, I've never seen such an unhappy unapproachable person working at a zoo. It honestly made me super uncomfortable to go up to him or buy anything in the store. I had questions but I didn't even ask because he was so unapproachable like I was inconveniencing his life by existing. This is also the first time ever being anywhere that I wanted a refund. I tried to tell myself the money was a donation to the animals. But my daughter and I were able to walk through this entire zoo in 20-30 minutes. We walked around 3 times within an hour because i refused to leave because I felt like i paid $20 for nothing. Felt like Half of the exhibits were closed or the animals were gone from them. Place is really run down. The little rides they have steal your money and don't work. Overall it was Super disappointing i definitely won't be making it back here anytime soon. read more

Went today and had the worst experience ever at a zoo. It started with the rude woman issuing the tickets at the beginning. Had no customer service what so ever. Why would they put someone so careless at the entrance? Throughout the park they have typos on the signs. Then, the best part of all... there were only TWO animals out. A loin and a emu. My wife brought me here for a Lemur encounter. We go here in the late morning after many communications regarding whether or not the lemur encounter would happen. Because the website states they cancel the encounters if it is over 85 degrees and it was going to be over 95 degrees. But over the phone they did not seem to be aware of this. It's very frustrating when the information on the website is different than the practice at a place. We saw everything in about 45 minutes. Not a huge zoo but decent amount of animals and the enclosures are well sized for the animals. I was impressed with the rainforest house and that they had a nocturnal house, though it did not seem utilized to its potential. Many of the "nocturnal animals were animals I have seen out in regular enclosures at other zoos including the sloths that were also labeled as in the rain forest house but did not spear to be there. The place was clean too not a small feat for a place frequented by families with small children. Food was reasonably priced and what you might expect for a zoo. They do not allow outside food. They have homemade chips which I was excited for but they were inedible due to the salt. (ProTip: get them unsalted). They closed the concessions at 1pm due to the extreme heat which is reasonable but was inconvenient as we had several hours to kill before our encounter and had to order super quick or would miss it. They were not flexible about the encounter time and it was not clear why. We did not realize the zoo would be so small and did not plan appropriately. But we made it work (ProTip: the back entrance to the nocturnal house has some good AC). When we got within about 20 minutes of our encounter we went to fill out the paper work which essentially is just a waiver and the kids working were really weird about it like it was an inconvenience that we wait there for the 20 minutes. I understand they are high school kids with summer jobs but their approach made for an awkward encounter several times that day. As we left they were much less awkward. Finally we made it to the encounter. The encounter was great. Coley took us through and was great. Very friendly an knowledgeable about the lemurs and the zoo. For $35 each we got to go in to the lemur enclosure for the black and white ruffs and feed them some fruit and interact with them. It was 30 minutes. I loved it. That with the price of the zoo we paid $88 for our day and $22 for our lunch. Totally reasonable for the day. In fact you would be hard pressed to find that day at a better price. Will come back for a day at the zoo and perhaps the Red Panda encounter. read more

Capron Park Zoo is a great place to visit with youngsters. There are bathroom facilities, a place to grab a snack or light meal, and a small gift shop with items for every pocketbook. There is a tropical rainforest and a nocturnal animal display along with lions, buffalo, bears, monkeys, birds, etc.It's not a huge zoo so it leaves time for the kids to play on the playground after seeing the animals. I read the reviews. I can understand some of the issues. For my experience, first, the staff was helpful and friendly, no issues at all. The size of place was perfect for the group of the four little ones I was with (5 adults :)) We got there around 10ish. Not crowded which was great. We looked at the exhibits, the animals, took cute pics, did the splash pad. Then had lunch and the playground. They were done at that point. It appeared right before the moment of potential meltdowns. So any bigger or longer wouldn't have worked. Maybe because there were 4 together, maybe because they were younger, but the size was good. If your expecting a large zoo, or a major attraction, then it's probably just not what your looking for. Disclaimer, I struggle with zoo's in general. Maybe they are rescue focused. I would have liked to see more space for many of the animals, especially some of indoor exhibits. It was also hot and it seemed some water tubs may have been dry. It did seem like animals needed a little more attention but I am no expert. We were lucky it wasn't to crowded so the kids had plenty of room on the splash pad. They overall had a great time, and slept pretty good on the way home. read more

This is a smaller-sized zoo connected to a park. The zoo part is somewhat small but has a variety of animals (emus, kangaroos, otters, llamas, leopards, lions, lemurs). The zoo has a seperate entrance than the park. The park has a modern fun-looking playground for kids, walkways, picnic areas and a beautiful garden. Admission rates for the zoo differ for ages and for residents of Attleboro and non-residents. Anywhere from $2.75 - $5.00 Educational programs and international wildlife tours are offered as well. I think it would be a great place to take children - as the playground looks awesome... and the zoo isn't so exhausting. I like this zoo! It's small but there are lots of animals and they are usually available to see. It is a fun hour and an enjoyable stroll. Lots of families and kids. It is very clean, and I love the white lions, lemurs and red panda. Also a cool nocturnal exhibit. Inexpensive to get in but the food vendors ONLY TAKE CASH. I thought this was such a fun little zoo! The animals actually moved a bit not like the Boston zoo. Loved they had animals not seen elsewhere (red panda) . My grandson really enjoyed the nocturnal building (we went through twice) . I loved it was small, very pretty and clean and not crowded. I usually feel icky about zoos (the animals are caged, mistreated, abuse..and what not) as an environmentalist but despise my negative feelings I took my toddler and we not only enjoyed the place, but I loved reading about conservation programs they are taking part of to save endangered species. Great little zoo! Friendly staff. This is a great place to go have a picnic in the park then visit the zoo. Reasonably price ($33 for 4 people), it is not huge but has interesting exhibits, and is kept very clean. We walked in to the sound of lions roaring, which excited the kids.
