Me and my fiancé came here for the first time on Saturday. Everyone we interacted with was so accommodating and knowledgeable to make our experience wonderful. I can't thank everyone enough for making our visit so enjoyable. We did the 1 hour private tour and I got to meet Hazel, the capybara. I got to hold a toucan too. We had so much fun

Great spot for kids to learn about animals and interact with them. The staff are very knowledgeable and excited to provide educational tours. The focus on animal rescue is great.

I came here for my birthday specifically for the Capybara encounter. I saw a video of Hazel online and I had to meet her. Paige took us to meet Hazel and she was friendly and knowledgeable. Then we did a "pick 6" tour. I originally wanted to see the wallaby, but our tour guide Benji recommended something else. I'm so glad he did because I got to meet Splinter the South American paca and he is SO cute!!! Benji also took us to see foxes, armadillos, kangaroo, and the kinkajou. He was also friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this place to anyone. You can tell they care about your safety as well as the animals.

I took my teenaged son here to have the capybara encounter, and it was great! We loved seeing all the exotic animals they had and interacting with as many as possible, but Hazel the capybara was his favorite by far! He got to feed and play with her during his scheduled encounter, which was well-worth the price! I highly recommend this place and its staff to anyone looking to see exotic animals in New England!

Smaller, more interesting and more personal than any zoo we've visited, Animal Adventures is all about getting really close to a variety of interesting and sometimes exotic animals. Would you like to pet a porcupine, feed an alligator or walk with a tortoise? Then this is your place. They offer general admission starting at $15 which is self guided and includes animal shows, or a variety of private guided tours, where you get to go into the cages and interact with the animals. We selected their 90 minute tour, which provided us with a personally guided tour with a zookeeper assigned to our group of six, and included hands-on introductions to a variety of their animals. Some of their animals include owls, kangaroos, porcupines, foxes, alligators, snakes, armadillos, skunks, wallaby, emu, and more. These can change as Animal Adventures is actually a rescue providing "homes to unwanted and unable to be cared for animals, while educating the public about these animals." We had a great time and spent a couple of hours here, petting a boa constrictor, porcupine (better pet them in the correct direction!), tortoises, emu, goats, lizards, bunnies and more. Our 3 year old companion had a great time, and the adults did too! This is a real gem to visit when in the area, a must see if you like animals.

My hybrid doesn't have a spare, and the tire inflator that came with the car wouldn't work. I was stuck and wasn't sure what I was going to do. A man named Ryan pulled over and offered to help. He told me he works at Southwick Zoo. He grabbed the jack and tools from his truck, took my tire off, plugged the hole, and put everything back together. When I offered to pay him for his time and kindness, he politely refused. In a world where we often hear about the negative, I think it's important to recognize people who go out of their way to help complete strangers. Ryan's generosity, skill, and willingness to stop and help made a stressful situation so much easier. Southwick Zoo should be proud to have someone like Ryan representing them. Friendly people, a variety of exhibits and just an overall good time. I sprung for the combo ticket that gave me access to the train and skylift. The train was very 'meh' and defiantly more for the kids. I enjoyed the skylift, its just high enough for you to get a Birdseye view above the park, but not so high to make you unconformable, and it goes at a great speed so that you can enjoy the ride. I was little surprised as there were a few exhibits that didn't seem enclosed like the flamingos, a couple of the birds, and the prairie dogs, I don't know how they keep them in the enclosers. Taking my time I was able to do the whole zoo in about 3 hours. Like most attractions, the concession options are grossly overpriced. Everything was outside, there were no inside exhibits except for one small building. Again, a great day overall and a return trip will be in order.

The park itself where the zoo is situated, is absolutely gorgeous with a lot of stuff going on from tennis, to kids playing, to people exercising. The zoo itself is not huge, but what we liked about it was we saw at least three animals that we had never even heard of! And we go to a lot of zoos and know animals! It was interesting that when the elephants were let out, they had different areas close to the fence where the elephants could grab a snack in an enrichment type toy that kept them very close and visible. We actually found that with a lot of the animals that they're enrichment toys were located in areas that kept them close to the crowds, and they seemed more than happy to be snacking in those spots. The enclosures were not huge, but seemed to be very clean. I was very satisfied with our visit. There are not a ton of food options, but would recommend the bacon cheese Smashburger meal, which came with a drink and very respectable french fries. Seems like a great zoo for kiddos and has a goat petting zoo where they can brush the goats.

The main paths have large gravel rocks that were loose and uneven and a grass strip in the middle. It was a bit hard to push through even with our stroller with large wheels. The tractors that occasioned through blew the dust up around the paths too. There were plenty of porta potties and I also liked they have a hand washing station too. From what I could tell, there are larger orchards in the area but Shelburne seemed to have everything you need - a food truck (with an excellent burger and pulled pork sandwich), a hard cider place, the aforementioned apple cider donuts, and a little general store selling jams and whatnot. At first glance, there didn't appear to be a ton of seating but if you walk a bit further up the hill, past the grassy patch, there's a good amount of benches and tables. Apple cider donuts review: 4/5? Not as fresh or as warm as I've sampled at other orchards but these had a healthy dusting of cinnamon sugar and a great chew. Downing two of these bad boys was not a great decision for the ride back (plus I had a cheeseburger). Cheeseburger: 4.5/5. Just a bun, patty, cheese, ketchup but listen, this was one of the best cheeseburgers I've had in a while. The bun was perfectly buttered and toasted and there was just the right ratio of meat to bread to condiments. I felt really, really food-drugged after eating this and the donuts. All the burger needed was some pickles. The only thing I didn't love about the layout is the area with the food truck had only three or four tables (no chairs) and faced the row of Porta Potties but I get that space is at a premium. There was also a sizable hill to get from the food truck to the area with tables/benches/donuts, which made walking in cycling shoes an enormous pain, though that's a me-problem.
