Location, view, and staff were great, but the room was NASTY! There were cockroaches, cockroach poop, and ants everywhere! We stayed in a two-bedroom unit (3rd floor), and the "no elevator" wasn't an issue for us, but the sticky, rusty, dusty, and just plain dirty everything was! The room was in dire need of a deep cleaning! We woke up to the view of gross screens every day, the bathroom vent was beyond dirty, the handrail to go up to the main room was sticky, the microwave hadn't been cleaned prior to us arriving, the fans were extremely dusty, the cable box looked like it hadn't been wiped down in months, and everything was just ICK! Sadly this property is infested with cockroaches of two varieties as well as three species of ants! And it is bad. We had a trail of ants from the front door along the wall into the kitchen and then smaller ones all over the nightstands in the bedrooms. There were roaches in every kitchen drawer so it was like a jump scare horror movie - both the ants and roaches infested all of the food we put down in the counters before we realized they were there. It really negatively affected our trip to Hawaii both because we had to live with them the whole vacation - even had a roach in the bed :( but also because our last night was spent packing out in the balcony so we could spray our suitcases and shake out our clothes - then bag our suitcases in hopes we wouldn't bring them home...not the way I envisioned my last night on the island! While the staff was very nice - they didn't have the ability to do much. They lent us the bags for our suitcases and apologized...what really needed to happen was to move us elsewhere and then clean and fumigate the entire property. It was very dirty - for instance the walkways and railings were not cleaned the entire week we were there and looked like maybe they were never cleaned. The common bathroom had a large cockroach dead in it and piles of the smaller ones and also did not get cleaned all week. Very unfortunate because it is a beautiful location and the pool and hot tub were maintained. After experiencing this, I see that people have complained about the same infestation since 2018! The staff just said that it is a humid island - but we have stayed many other places who are able to clean and fumigate! This is definitely a long-term lack of care. read more

Lovely vacation condo in a near perfect location in beautiful, Kapa'a. Stayed here a few days while visiting several friends of ours who live in diverse parts of Kaua'i. We are no frills people so we're rarely disappointed ... this location is prime! Central to access to the northern part of the island, quick access to the airport and good access to the south and west (just avoid what the locals call "the Kapa'a crawl" at rush hour). Absolutely mesmerized by the prevailing trades that made it so cool and breezy ... excellent for sleeping or just relaxing and enjoying the view. We didn't have time to test the pool, sauna or jacuzzi but we will try to hit these next time. Honestly with so much to see on this island, pool seems so trivial. Everyone was awesome and everything was great. Definitely appreciated the new standard operating procedures where housekeeping doesn't come to your room unless you call. We don't need housekeeping daily as we are trained adults who can make our own beds, wash our own clothes and take out our own trash. This aspect gives the resort a homey feel and less of a hotel. Stayed at this location during our stay in Kauai. The front desk workers were both very nice. We had a 2-bedroom the 1st night and then had to move to a 1-bed for the rest of our stay. Be prepared for the heat if you go during the summer since none of the rooms have AC. There is a strong breeze but the air is very humid. The pool and jacuzzi are nice and operate until 10pm. The rooms are very out-dated and the furniture did not seem to clean. The negatives are from our experience: 1. Our car was hit while parked and there are no cameras throughout the resort; 2. There is no private beach area that some other worldmark locations have; 3. Don't stay on the 1st floor as there are no gates and anyone can just walk up to your patio. Also, the constant thumping sound from the people above you drove us crazy; 4. The roosters are everywhere waking us up at 4-4:30am every morning; 5. Nothing to eat on the property so you have to always drive somewhere for food. The only highlight was the workers as they were all nice and accommodating. read more

Repeatedly reported smoking on property and front desk did not respond. My husband had to kindly, yet firmly, ask people to move along and stop smoking in front of our building. The breeze just brings the smoke right up. It's disgusting and not allowed but not enforced. Very disappointing. My wife and I had an amazing stay at an amazing island (Kauai). This is one of my favorite places on Earth. New employee Sini so personable, high energy, big smile and truly engaged. Great hire by Worldmark. We spoke the day I checked in for about 5 minutes and on my last day I walked into reception and I asked one question to her. What is my name. She took a moment to think about it and got it right. With the volume of people that are in and out it is very hard to remember people but she has exactly what I would seek for my business if she lived on the mainland. Great hire WM please take care of her she is a keeper. Technically I give this 3.5 stars. It's an older unit. However, it is very clean. We had just came from a week at Worldmark in Kihei and our unit there was quite dirty, so the cleanliness was very welcome. The grounds are beautiful. It's on the water, although on a non swim able beach. They do have a nice grassy area where you can lay out and look at the water, and a nice pool and hot tub . One day when we were there the pool was quite cloudy. I'm not sure what that was about. Didn't swim that day. Now... they do not have air conditioning here. When I'm in Hawaii, I generally don't use air conditioning. I enjoy that. However, it was problematic in this instance because the dryer vented INTO the unit. So anytime you want to do any washing or drying, your unit would get very humid and there was really no way to get rid of that. I had several sleepless nights because we needed to wash our suits and towels at the end of the day. It just got hotter and stickier than it needed to be. The beds all sagged a bit. There weren't many families here. Not an issue for us... I particularly appreciate it not listening to a chorus of Marco Polo all day! It was quite serene. Now, the town is not fancy but it is centrally located. You can easily go to the northern or southern part of the island in a reasonable amount of time. I think I would probably stay in this area again next time. I'm not sure about this particular property for the future because I did find I didn't sleep well here, which was disappointing. read more

The employees are all helpful and friendly. Maintenance man was early to unclog the drain. You get supplies at no extra charge. They are the best part of this resort. Now for the bad. I'm a WM owner, so I've visited many properties including the Big Island, Maui, and now here. We could not wait to leave. The place needs a major renovation. Our appliances were all new but everything here is just so old. We are heading to the Hilton in Waikoloa. We stayed at Kapaa for 4 nights and are leaving with bug bites. I woke up each morning with new ones. I'n short, it's a dump and will ruin your vaca if you stay here for the whole time. I won't even stay here if you paid me. Find a regular hotel. You need AC in Kauai. 69 degrees and still very humid. read more

This was our first time visiting Kauai. We stayed in a 3rd floor condo. The grounds and pool were nice. I spent many evenings and mornings sitting on the lounge chair overlooking the ocean. No beach access, but you can walk down a little ways and there is a small sandy area. Bike trail access right next to condo. Staff was nice and accommodating. The ONE thing that would keep me from coming back is the bug problem. Ants all over the unit and the roaches . They sent someone to spray the unit but the whole complex needs to be fumigated. Yes, the unit had no AC which sucked, but sitting outside on the balcony or on the lounge chairs was a relief and as other said, you get a good cross-breeze through the unit. I can handle the heat and humidity but the ant and roach infestation is not acceptable. read more

Lets start with the two biggest issues that need to be mentioned off the top. 1. No AC 2. No beach access I am flabbergasted by the fact that a place like this exist in Hawaii. Let alone a "resort" in Hawaii. The lack of beach front would obviously be difficult to correct, but the lack of AC when heat pumps exist is pretty insane. We stayed at two different two star hotels both with AC. Outside of the two obvious issues the place was pretty nice. Looks like they recently renovated and its not in bad shape at all. If they had AC and I was able to sleep i probably would have loved this place honestly. You are close to a few really nice restaurants and walking distance to some beach fronts. Here is the final note. My heart fell to the floor when we opened up the door to see two fans and realized that there was no AC in the place. Kauai is hot and having a "resort" without AC is like traveling to Washington and not expecting heat. Traveling to Arizona, Austin, TX, anywhere in California and not having ac. This is pretty unacceptable. We had 3 nights booked and left after one night. I slept maybe a total of 2 hours on the sleeper sofa to cool off. It was miserable. Before the night was over I had booked a stay at a different hotel (2star again), but they had AC. I will never stay at this "resort" again and I am hopefully detering others from visiting this place until they fix the AC issue. Honestly I realize here that I should have double checked they had AC before booking, but honestly who would think... I am going to hawaii staying at a "resort" and need to verify they have AC. I cant believe there are not many more lower scored reviews. Imagine coming here in summer. This was the end of Sept. In July. You would pass out from heat exhaustion. read more

Website is not transparent that the rooms are not air conditioned. When inquiring about this at check-in I was told most of the island doesn't have AC, however third time on the island and first to learn that this was the norm. In fact our friends stayed down the street and had AC. There was construction going on in the unit above us our entire stay. Rough, stained sheets and towels and hair all over the stained bathroom tub. No umbrellas at the pool area and provided an actual key versus a fob for access. If you lose it it's a $25 fee. The nonstick cookware was completely scratched and unusable. Lastly you have to buy a Wifi package. read more

Waves crash against the shore drowning out most other noises. We are separated from the ocean by the pool and a small strip of sand. View of the ocean is amazing from up on the third floor. I watched as light of the sun began to illuminate the darkness and it appeared from the ocean. It began as a slight golden glow until night became day. The birds came with the sun. A good variety patrol the area for leftover bread Maggie left on the patio. I spotted a cardinal, sparrows, pigeons, and mynah birds. I listen to the birds singing. Their songs mix with that of waves. This resort is peaceful and relaxing. There is no AC but a breeze blows through the patio to the front door which you can leave open due to the locking screen door. We stayed in August and while it was warm I didn't mind the lack of AC. The lcd tv has HDMI ports in the back to plug in a laptop or gaming system. Washer and dryer is in the unit so you don't need to pack a ton of clothes. Full kitchen has limited spices, pots, pans, and utensils. You will need cooking oil and maybe more spices. There is no elevator but I'd love staying in our 1 bedroom + loft unit on the 3rd floor again. read more

We are a timeshare owner at WorldMark Kapaa Shore and the last time we visited was at least 12 years ago. Although the whole property could use a facelift, the location is perfect. Safeway and several great restaurants are all within walking distance. The unit we were in, 102, seemed newly renovated. The vinyl or wood floors seemed new. The furnishings are also newer, not the rattan chairs or sofas as seen in the picture. I was hoping they had upgraded to install AC units, but after a couple of days of adjusting, we always kept the sliding doors open and let the ocean breeze come through. In our next visit to Kauai, I would definitely request any of first-floor units on this building. All of the front desk staff were very nice and accommodating. I had no issues asking for supplies, laundry coins and replenishing my beach and bath towels. read more

The resort itself isn't bad, and all of the employees are very nice. But the bed is probably the worst, most uncomfortable bed we've ever used. Our stay was not relaxing due to the amount of pain we were in from the bed. Also, it would be nice to have laundry in the room, like other Worldmark resorts, but it definitely wasn't the worst. read more

Negative: They have an ant and cockroach problem. No elevator and no air conditioning. They provide high powered fans and the ocean air flows through but they need better fans in the bathrooms. Positive: The staff was amazing and helpful. This timeshare is one of a few (if not only) that has an ocean view from each room. Most timeshares on Kauai are in a location that you have to drive to stores, restaurants, music and bars. At Kauai Shores you can walk to all of these and it is close to the airport. read more

We have been a Worldmark owner since 2006 and this is our fave resort. Of all of Worldmark. This location is prime!!! I been reading these reviews and wonder if they got the wrong resort. Worldmark must keep Kapaa shores! All rooms , every single one, is an ocean front , not just ocean view room. It's so gorgeous. It's not fancy, but it's clean and so beautiful! Rooms have new appliances, Fresh paint, comfy bed w crisp linens and fluffy pillows. I stayed at pono kai for one night and couldn't wait to rush back to Worldmark Kapaa shores. We got ocean front beach and lovely shady trees , soft grass , beautiful blue-tiles bottom sparkling pool. Our room had a washer / dryer unit inside. Totally spoiled here. I had 3 hard to please teenagers on this trip , and all agree that this stay was heaven. Oh and the complimentary Kona coffee in our room was strong and delicious. Very accommodating staff! We love you Worldmark Kapaa shores!!!!! We are so sad to leave today and will rush back soon. read more

We have been here for 4 days and it has been wonderful. Spectacular sunrise viewing from our Lani, the pool is refreshing after a balmy day. Staff is friendly, condos are we'll equipped, grounds are well kept and we loved the 3.00 movie rentals. It's walking distance to Safeway which is a huge plus! The bad, no air conditioning but we did have fans and if you opened the patio and the front door you had a great breeze in the room. the down side to that is everything in the room stayed damp including our sheets, (no linen changes by the way).The added bonus the light switch in the bedroom gave me a not very nice jolt more than once and as you can see, Day 5 of our vacation and we have assorted fungi growing in the bathroom. Over all the place is nice and the ocean view is priceless, it's in average condition for a condo built in 1974 with what appears to be minimal repair work done when they have water damages. but opt for spending a little more and stay in a location with AC is important to you. read more

Right on Kuhio hwy about a block away from Safeway, directly across the street fromTaco Bell/ Pizza Hut, look for the Kapaa Shore sign on your right hand side. It isn't much to look at on the outside, it almost look very dated but the 2BR unit on the 3rd floor is probably the best to have. It is a 2 story unit, with the master loft (not a full bedroom) upstairs. It faces the ocean and the pool which is a huge plus. The room is fully equipt with all the basic things we needed for a few days. Safeway and Foodland is close by should u need to shop for other things. Starbucks and The Coffee Bean are also very near. There's plenty of restaurants and shops around. Pros: wifi in the unit...free for Travelshare members. Great location, great ocean view, stores close by, easy access to other cities. Cons: no A/C in the units but they have several ceiling and standing fans, no elevator, ocean is not swimmable, master bedroom is not a complete room but a loft, lobby is small and doesn't have the amenities of bigger Worldmark resorts. read more

We've been here for two weeks now. First of all the location is great. You're close to Safeway across the street and the restaurants in Kapaa, the ocean is right outside your door. There is no Sandy beach but the lawn is beautiful. Now to the bad. The units are definitely not worldmark standards you find in other resorts. The noise from people above you as they are walking is terrible. It sounds like they are coming through you ceiling. Of course it doesn't help when you've got some irresponsible parents that let their kids run back and forth across the floor for hours. Be a parent and control your damn kids!!! Complaint to the front desk didn't help a bit. One response was "it's not 10 pm yet so they can make as much noise as they want", Possibly a third floor unit might be quieter but be prepared for the stairs. There are no elevators. Ther is laundry available just not in the unit as other worldmark resorts. The one bedroom is a gueen size bed not a king as in other resorts. There is no ac but that's ok if you can leave your windows open. The problem with that is the people that want to sit outside on their lani and bs at all hours of the night. Basically this is not what I would expect from a worldmark resort. read more

Staff is really nice. The rooms don't have AC and get super stuffy. That is the biggest reason for lower star rating. Also doesn't have a usable beach. The rooms are well equipped with full sized fridge and all the basics to cook in. There are a couple of stand fans as well as ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room, but that was not enough to keep the rooms nice. One of the nights there was a big storm, flash flood warnings overnight and thunder and lightening, and the room was a literal oven. We had to close the back windows because the rain was blowing inside, and without any cross breeze, we baked. The only road in and out is always trafficky and hard to get out, especially to turn left. It is close to a Safeway, which is walkable. Less than a mile from a few restaurants. Next time we come to Hawaii, we will stay somewhere with usable beach and AC. read more

Wyndham needs to either rid of this property or put in some serious funding to make this an acceptable property. It looks like it's stuck in the 60's with an awful front exterior. The entry way are old and the salt air is damaging the structure. The rear of the property is in much better condition considering how old this property is. The units have been updated but there's no AC, so good luck during those hot days, though you should feel the ocean breeze. Kapaa location, though central is very busy and if you're headed to Lihue in the late afternoon, you better give yourself anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes to get to your destination. Saving grace is the friendly staff. read more

Everyone's seen towel animals before... but have you seen tissue animals? yes.. there was a tissue butterfly on the toilet seat lid! That totally made my day when we first checked in. Not sure if they went a little too far but it was definitely amusing. We stayed here for a week and it was great! We got to watch the sunrise every morning and enjoy the hot tub every evening after each day's adventures. Another cool thing, there's a guy who paddleboards every morning when you go out to take pictures of the sunrise (of course we didn't deal with any rough weather while we were there). He's in over 80% of my sunrise shots and makes them that much cooler! There's no AC but you adapt to the humidity by the second day. The one bedrooms don't come with the washer and dryer so we had to take a short walk to one of the laundry rooms. Oh, and you'll have to get some quarters from the front desk to use the machines. It's still convenient since you can pack light and leave a lot of extra room in your luggage for souvenirs and hawaiian snacks to bring home. We did make good use of the WiFi since our phones were running way too slow to load anything or book reservations for certain events/adventures. The only thing that bugged me were the micro ants that kept appearing in our kitchen sink area. We had no food on the counters but they were marching around looking anyways. Other than that, I wouldn't mind coming back the next time I visit. read more

This was a great place to stay with my husband and two kids!! It was like having our own apartment. Very clean and great staff!! No AC, but then again, I didn't come here to spend my days in the room. We didn't get a room facing the ocean, but I was able to walk out and have my coffee on a lounge chair enjoying the ocean view. They offered a free hula class, which my daughter loved!! Kapaa shores is center of everything! Lots of food places and shops! Great nearby beaches too!! I will be staying here again!! read more

We stayed here for 4 days! Loved it! Very calm, very pacific resort. Loed everything in the room, though the shower had a few black fungus spots. But the kitchen was well equipped with EVERYTHING!! Had two tvs and two dvds, we had a lot of trouble with one of the dvds, and the ladt night one of the tvs kept turning off by itself. They give you coins so you can do your laundry, so its free, you have the detergent in your room. The pool was always kepy clean, every morning I saw maintaince cleaning it. Loved everything! I'm a fan of time shares because they're like mini apartments and you get a bedroom, a queen sized murphy bed, and a kitchen stocked with cooking supplies. Not a huge fan of the way the booking works though. Checkout is strictly at 11AM, and you aren't able to push it any later because they always have rooms booked back to back. They do have what they call "hospitality suites" set up for people who have late flights... which is actually just another room in the timeshare and can become inconveniently cramped. They use this room as storage too, so you've got suitcases everywhere, people constantly coming in, and very little space to hang out. My group stayed in this room after kayaking and we were exhausted, so we took up the whole living room space and napped, which meant that other people who wanted to hang out couldn't because there was no room to sit. And when you need to use the restroom, you can't because the stranger taking the 1 hour shower is hogging the bathroom. Hospitality suites are a great idea in theory, but it works better if it's a bigger room space and there are multiple bathrooms. There's a DVD library at the front desk, but it's pretty expensive to rent. Save your $$ and go to Safeway across the street to rent from Redbox. read more

Stayed here a week, some very nice features. Grounds well kept, beautiful ocean view from our suite. Clean and has all the basics. We would not stay here again though, mainly because walls, floor and ceiling are paper thin. Got so tired of listening to banging and stomping above us it spoiled an otherwise good time. Really, it was that loud. If you want a place close to all amenities with nice ocean views, this place is for you. If you want peace and quiet, no guarantees. read more

I love this Worldmark Resort. It's beautiful here, the staff have been wonderful, especially Luvelyn, I enjoy seeing her & talking with her. We have a 1 bedroom unit, on the 2nd floor in building A. Best location with a view of the ocean. We've been able to see a few whales, but only when they come up for air. Haven't seen them jump out of the water yet. There is some remodeling going on here at this Worldmark location on about 6 units or more we've noticed. But I personally don't mind, over time things HAVE to be updated & upgraded. So I don't mind, I'm an owner and you HAVE to expect these things to happen. The workers have been working as fast & hard as they can to complete those units. It's great to see all the new ceiling fans, furniture, appliances, mattresses, ETC. going into those units. And the noise level has been very low. The workers even worked yesterday which was Presidents' Day, I salute those workers and I thank you for working the holiday to make my Worldmark beautiful with upgraded everything!!!!!!!!!!! read more

My sister in law was so nice enough to book us a unit here after getting married in Oahu... Pros -Spacious unit...ours have 2 rooms with 2 bathrooms -Nice view of the ocean in our patio/balcony -Amenities include kitchenwares so you can cook your own food -Near Safeway,Taco bell/Pizza hut Cons -No airconditioner inside the room...they do have fans though. -No ocean swimming -The beach front is too rocky and slippery. All in all our stay was so memorable,we got more relaxed and laid back than staying in the big island Oauhu. read more

My husband and I stayed in the Kapaa Shore Resort on our Honeymoon, it truly is paradise. Our condo was on the bottom floor which walked out to the Pool and Beach which was less then 200 feet from the the crashing waves on the beach. The sandy beach runs for miles along the waters edge, which walks right up onto the resorts grass. Our Condo had 1 bedroom, 1 bath, full kitchen and large living room. Very Clean and cozy!! Since Kapaa shore is a time share most of the people staying there were 65+ which was nice because we weren't constantly competing for time in the jacuzzi or the pool and it was very relaxing. The office has movies to rent for a dollar a night which is very nice after a long day of adventuring in Hawaii. The resort is located less then a block away from Safeway and other convenient stores ABC, Hilo Hatti, etc. This is def. a tucked away secret that is a must stay for the romantic at heart looking for a perfect piece of paradise. (While in Kauai try Zip-Lining @ Princeville Ranch, Lapperts Ice Cream, and Kauai Pasta Co.) Happy Traveling :-) read more

I have stayed in many resorts by world mark but this is by far the worst! No AC!! It's so muggy and gross. The place stinks! And is so old and rusty. I feel dirty even showering here. Yes the kitchen is fully equipped and is right on the beach (that you can't go on cuz of the rocks), and that is the only reason it doesn't get 1 star. I should never feel homesick when in Hawaii.. But this has me missing my home so much! :( read more
