There's a neat little miniature train that has two depots in Forest Park- the ride is $4 for adults and a bit less for the kids. The track winds through several bridges and underneath overpasses for a 45-minute ride. There's one stop where you can stretch your legs, buy some popcorn or just stay put. It's a great ride for the kids (and others of all ages really). We spent some time visiting the park in mid-April and the weather was beautiful. Low 70 degree weather with a slight breeze, and the sun poking out of some clouds. The grounds were preparing for MayFest sometime later in April. Overall, this is just a great place with picnic areas, rolling grass areas, endless treelines, and several playground areas. There's ample parking but it can get a little ugly driving in or out of the area on certain times of the weekend, especially if there are events going on. You're really close to the Fort Worth Zoo as well- one of the best zoos I've attended. Have fun!

My grandson was having the most fun at the slides but here's where it got weird. "Mila, I have to potty." Well guess what Foster Park does NOT have. Restrooms. Person who designed this park please explain. We had to cut our park adventure short, get in the car, drive away and stay away and find a restroom.

The neighborhood that surrounds this park is so cute! It's so quiet too. The park has a tiny parking lot, so I parked and took my walk through, taking pictures. I saw three other people during my visit. Two with dogs. I was super surprised to see a huge patch of bluebonnets. You don't see those often in Dallas proper, unless on the side of the highway. The trail goes to a creek and there are some homes across the way. It's so peaceful. It's definitely worth checking out, but maybe not a destination-must-go-now. I'm happy to know this place is close by, and maybe on another nice day I could walk to it. Great job to the neighbors for putting this nature walk together. It's lovely, and a good recharge to the soul to be out in it.

Once you walk past the organized rock constructions that make the entrance, the unpaved path gets a bit rugged and poorly maintained. I didn't mind it because it created a sense of "natural wilderness" that is absent in many artificial/human-maintained parks. I saw at least 7 different bird species and plenty of squirrels in my first 5 minutes, so that was exciting. Too bad it is such a small place! I was done in less than 20 minutes.

The grass and the plants look dry in gray But this is the closest one near me and I needed to walk my dog. I didn't walk my dog through the path because there is a snake warning. There's a basketball court, baseball court and a playground for kids, the parking lot has 2 sides, overall it's an ok park, it doesn't look well maintained to be honest the trailer park next door looks greener and more alive. Btw it's open from 5am to 11 PM.
