As of today: New roof installed…read more Wind Mitigation Complete New insulation blown in the attic I have to pause and give a HUGE shot out to Sentinel Roofing who really helped through every bit of this. They made sure the permit went through and started the project on time, which allowed our new roof to be completed Wednesday 9/25. The day before Hurricane Helen was expected to hit. The roof was inspected and filed Thursday morning (9/26) prior to the City closing down at noon. When they thought their dumpster company wouldn't be able to pick up prior to the storm; they came to ensure the dumpster was tied down and secured. My husband was incredibly impressed how they took the time to sure through every eyelet on the tarp. The dumpster company also ended up coming Thursday early to pick up the dumpster so it was gone before the winds started. The Wind Mitigator and Insulation team showed up on time Monday (9/30) after the storm. Sentinel Roofing has an amazing group of people working with them. Every single individual I dealt with was not only incredibly kind and customer service oriented but also responsive, and was great with communication. Bold City reroofed my home 3 years ago. I found a damp spot in my ceiling several months ago and called them. A worker was sent out and found no problems with the roof but did seal the vent up on the roof which was above the leak. This past Friday (March 1) I found the area damp again and called Bold City. I spoke with Lucy the receptionist and the owner Victor. Both assured me someone would be out the next day between 10am - 12pm. Well, no one came. Monday morning I called them and spoke with Lucy who assured me someone was sent to my home and did go on the roof and take photos and there were many issues with my roof; the fasteners were all loose, all the areas around the vents needed repair etc. I told Lucy no one had been to my home as I was there all day. She was pleasant but adamant a worker had come there, knocked on my door once and after getting no response, went on the roof and took pics. Lucy told me the worker was at my home at 3PM (the appointment was for between 10am - 12pm) She said she would email me the pics which showed the damages. I was now second guessing myself wondering if I may have stepped out in the afternoon when the worker came. I requested a call from the owner Victor, as I did have a problem with: the worker going on my roof without making contact with me first and secondly, to question these reported issues as I had Bold City at my home a short time ago and no problems were reported. Lucy said there was no record of anyone from Bold City being at my home after 2019. I never got the email with the pics; I contacted Lucy and she said she would try emailing them to me again. Again I questioned the reported issues with my roof. After not receiving the email as promised, I called a third time and was told by Lucy, the owner, Victor said not to send me the pictures as the pics she had from the worker were not my roof. WHAT?! I asked that Victor call me---he did not. Lucy assured me a crew member would be out after 5pm on that same day (Monday). I cancelled plans so I could be home. I asked Lucy to please tell the worker to call me if was unable to come---no one came, no one called.' Tuesday I spoke to Lucy again at 11:45am. She assured me a worker could be at my home in 20 minutes. At 1:15pm (an hour and a half later) I called Bold City since no one came to my home yet and no one called. Lucy said the worker's GPS was broken and he was having a problem finding my home. Three times I scheduled appointments with Bold City. Three times I re-arranged my schedule so I could be home and three times they failed to show up. More importantly, why is a worker going onto someone's roof without making contact with them first and why does the owner refuse to followup?

Thanks largely to an out of business Orlando purveyor of swimming pool solar heating panels (the…read morecheap plastic kind that I found local squirrels just LOVE to gnaw holes into) a previous saltwater pool chlorinating system variously leaked salt water onto the metal roof installed years prior by Jim Brown Signature Roofing. If not for that leaky system my home would have a perfectly fine metal roof, but alas, squirrels beat me in the arms race and a bunch of spots on the roof suffered from rust and were in some places was falling apart. I decided to try Atlantic to get rid of that messed up setup perhaps in advance of getting solar for either electric or hot water. Atlantic got to work rapidly in removing the old roof and installing the new one. However, once the south side of the house roof was replaced they realized the roof panels weren't quite the right size or something along those lines. At that point they covered the roof in one of the newer alternatives for tar paper, this maybe 1/4" or so thick adhesive sheeting that provides both some cushioning for the roof panels and waterproofs the roof. This was because the COVID19 pandemic with its supply chain disrupting shenanigans delayed Atlantic's ability to get the proper panels. Despite this they ensured the roof with just that sheeting didn't leak, and then after a month or few they got suitable panels and finished installation in I believe under a week or so. The roof looks great and nicely caps my single-family residence. The only reason I'm dinging Atlantic a star is that they didn't clean up the site as much as I'd like. The photo accompanying this review shows one of several roofing nails from the previous roof that lurk among brush and leaves near the house in both front and back yards, along with various bits of nasty sharp metal which was dropped as the roofers sawed to try to adapt the improper sheeting to the structure. Other than occasionally stumbling upon such debris, their work was excellent.

The owner sent in a crew from Gainesville, that had the knowledge to get the job done. There is a transition from the house to the guest house behind the home, that is not a straight line and very challenging. The crew spent an entire day on that one section to make sure we were happy with what was done. Additionally there was a lot of rain between when they started and finished. The crew made sure the tarp was secured and water tight, so we didn't have to worry about the rain. I would highly recommend Atlantic roofing, they stand by their work. Anything along the way we weren't happy with, they fixed. Ed also went to bat for us with the insurance company to get us new plywood and flashing when he wasn't happy with what he saw.
