And no, they didn't tell me they couldn't meet my expectations when I sent that Email. I still have their Emailed response -- "It's beautiful!" Yes, what I wanted was. What I got wasn't. Do you see the close-up of that fireplace? One of the fake rocks had been given one last smear with three fingers when it had begun to harden. They used that piece on the front of the fireplace hearth. Unbelievable, but true. Then they wouldn't fix it. They said there were "variations" in real rock. But this is manufactured rock, so they could have gotten the colors and shapes right -- and culled out the pieces of low quality. I could give you other examples of problems with communications and quality. I chose this example because I'd even given them a PICTURE and they didn't get it right. Not only that, but the quality is appalling. And this, as the centerpiece of a house that cost over $300,000! No, I can't recommend them.

But this experience was far from professional. There were so many issues, it would be too long of a review to list them all but I'll list some of the terrible highlights. *Poor management/supervision *Terrible process and attention to detail *Prep work was shoddy *Workers left the job site dirty each day and ruined a piece of our brand new carpet *No regard for the fact that we were living and working from the space (the job took 7 days, unnecessarily). *Skill level of workers was mediocre at best *Communication and language deficits *Several times each day we had to do quality control due to dripping paint, missed spots, wrong sheen of paint, using the incorrect color in places---we only had 3 colors. *Misuse of caulk in a large area that needed to be repaired by a professional drywaller. *We paid almost 11k for the work and it wasn't even worth half of that with the quality we got. They gave us a 1.5% discount for "inconveniences"

Prices are fair for the quality of the work. We have been very happy with the craftsmanship. The custom nature of these orders means there is a wait time, but we were in no rush and were very happy with the products we got. I will highlight that we specifically asked about low VOC finishes and were assured that's what they use. When our bed arrived, it had no smell. Our dresser does have a very strong smell and it does transfer onto clothes still, even though we aired out of room for a day after it arrived, wiped it down, and it's been 4 weeks now. White glove delivery was also included and both times (it was two separate orders, months apart) the delivery people were professional and were careful about placing items where we wanted, and not damaging anything while entering our home / navigating stairs and tight corners.

The old siding had become brittle and cracked. On a recent re-roof job the roofers had some difficulty installing step flashing under the siding. The old siding cracked as they worked. Sister Siding made it all pretty again. Work crew was pleasant and didn't mind explaining their voodoo wisdom behind such finesse as a 47-degree vs. a 45-degree cut. With the heat we've had the past few summers and then the snow that seems to be a yearly event now, we thought it was time to get a really good widow upgrade. We also wanted out house painted after installation and Clear Choice set that up for us as well. (See my review for Triple A Painting). What we loved most about dealing with Clear Choice Windows & Doors was the personalized service we received. They have a large selection of window frame materials to choose from and our choice of fiberglass was an easy one. It was explained to us that fiberglass windows are stronger than both vinyl and wood, making them incredibly resilient to weather and climate -- perfect for PNW homeowners. From start to finish, our team of window installers provided friendly service, excellent craftsmanship, and it took only two days to install the 10 new windows in our home. Before, during and after, the team cleaned up and kept the work site tidy at all times. There was minimal damage to our landscaping as well. We have used Clear Choice three times now. During the last time we used them to replace a window…read moreframe that was leaking water into the house. The crew that came out was very new and completely botched the job, breaking siding along the way. To Clear Choice's credit they sent out a more senior team member to fix the issue and said they would replace the siding. Unfortunately because they had to cover up all the issues the window frame is now twice the width of all my other window frames. Once the siding arrived I paid Clear Choice to paint the trim and siding. The crew came out to fix the siding and get things painted but they said they only would paint the trim even though I agreed with the project manager, Luke, that the siding would be painted as well since they broke the siding in the first place. In April the trim was painted and they said they would come back out to do the siding but they never came. After multiple messages to Luke and then to our original sales rep, Jeff (who is lovely!), we still do not have our siding painted. Jeff did everything he could to escalate the matter but after months of back and forth it is clear that Clear Choice does not have great internal communication between sales and the working technicians since even a small job could not be resolved despite multiple efforts from myself and their own colleague, Jeff. While we appreciate the work Clear Choice has done for us over the last several years, we will not be using them in the future, as I now need to buy paint and find another service to come out and paint our siding (which Clear Choice broke), leaving me in the negative for this project.

Once he came, he showed me that the door was crooked, and other quality oversights that I was already skeptical about but didn't question from the first install. I ended up having the door re-installed by Montano Construction properly this time as well as having a storm door added and we were very happy with the results. Quality and attention to detail was really good and I feel comfortable knowing my door is not cooked and the little details regarding weather protection and structural integrity were accounted for. They also cleaned up the debris from the install. They could've charged me more considering the time it took to get everything up to their quality standard, but charged the initial quote. If you want quality work done right the first time, hire Montano Construction!
