Parviz, the owner, is an absolutely incredible resource on Persia, its millennia of history, and impressive cultural and artistic contributions. Artistry is manifest in both modern and antique Persian rugs and while the current political situation in Iran has attenuated some art, if you are discriminating and go with weavers for whom this art has been passed down for 4 or 5 centuries (particularly single-knotting) Persian carpets remain the pinnacle of hand-woven artwork that you can put to daily use. My wife and I both like hand-woven tapestries, e.g., we have a Two Grey Hills (Navaho) weaving on a wall. Curious, due to what Woven Treasures has on display in their front windows, we decided to go in to see what they might have in a runner. As a rule of thumb, I favor the colors and designs of carpets from Tabriz and Qum, and were very direct, specifying the dimensions and provenance (Tabriz, if possible) of what we were looking for, and Parviz, after selecting several Tabriz runners from a surprisingly large stock, provided a wealth of detail on each. We zeroed in on a stunning instance of what we had wanted and bought it. As it took a bit of time to prepare the carpet for transport, Parviz walked us through some of what he had and it dawned on me that he was more docent than merchant. The runner was a perfect fit for the corridor it was intended for, both artistically/aesthetically and dimensionally. Sadly, the third dimension had been neglected; a closet door that opens onto the corridor had a rather "tight" fit with the hardwood flooring. I had fallen hard for it, but its footprint limited its placement elsewhere in our flat. Reality coerced me into returning the runner, so while sad, I took its return as an opportunity to upgrade an area rug (Azerbaijan) we had in our home for more than 30 years. Again guided by Parviz, we did so with a rug woven in Isfahan that we're very happy with. We have a piece of art, which is a good value at any price. read more

Hmmmm. The owner is "special" in multiple ways, I suspect that is the rule throughout the carpet business. But I brought a treasured carpet to him for repair and for a princely sum he repaired it in two weeks. read more

It has been about a year of walking past Woven Treasures and mentioning to whoever I was with that I really want to check it out. Well this Sunday I finally went inside and was delighted with all of the amazing curated items this shop has to offer. The shop owner was very kind and helpful as a friend and I shopped. From passing by and looking into the windows, I could tell they had an awesome jewelry selection. I left with two new pairs of very afforadbly priced earrings. You can find great home decor pieces, gorgeous rugs, pillows, jewelry, candles, and so much more. If you need a gift, Woven Treasures is a great spot to stop. Each purchase is very beautifully wrapped, and they also offer boxes for gift purchases. I'm obsessed with my new Red Currant fragrance candle and my two new pairs of hoop earrings. After visiting the store I was interested in a statue without a price tag. The clerk said to call the owner for the price which I then have to do and we agree on the price and say I will pick up the next day. When I arrived and saw the owner to pick up the statue I refer to our previous conversation with cash in hand. He automatically doubles the price and when I said I came back just for that based on what we agreed upon he tries to sell me other items and sticks with his doubled price. I went looking for a rug but the attention was terrible. From the beginning they were rude and dismissive and it seemed that they were not interested in showing me the rugs. The lady even asked me "are you ready to buy a rug?" without even showing me a single one of them. I told her I would have to see one that I liked first and she said "can you come in two hours? The owner delivered the rug to my house and put the rug in its new place. Prior to doing so, they even took the extra care in sweeping the floors to ensure the spot was just perfect. The store's comfortable atmosphere along with the hospitality of the owners makes me more prone to stop by often :).
