BUT when I returned two weeks ago for another lift and tint there was no noticeable results at all. My lashes were definitely not curled. I was disappointed and was looking to have them touched and fixed, so I texted the lady who did them, I believe her name is Kim, to see if she could redo them complimentary. I wish I could give this place a higher rating bc my technician was very nice. I just wish my lashes had lasted longer. I've been getting my lash extensions done on and off for the past three years at a place in Los Angeles. The average price for a full set of 100% mink 3D in LA is $175 and for a natural set was usually under $150. I'd already been warned when I moved here that there were not as many eye lash extension salons, so the price would be more steep. I asked my technician for 100% mink lashes and she said they did not carry them. So essentially I paid $250 for synthetic lashes that on one eye didn't even last a week. I wear goggles in the shower (I know I'm extra) to help them last, haven't worn any eye make up, and haven't used any oily products on my face. I'm wondering if my nail technician got tired after doing one eye and just sort rushed the 2nd eye. What's strange is I texted the owner asking if they had mink lashes today and she said yes that's what they used... but the lash technician I had said they didn't n looking at the lashes right now I can tell they're synthetic. Perhaps the DC location has mink and Arlington doesn't? read more

About three weeks ago, after taking a 6 mos break from getting lash extensions, I finally had enough of my morning strip lash routine. With an event that weekend, I decided it was a good time to try a new lash pro. (I also think I was allergic to the glue at my last regular place.) So, after a lot of research, I contacted Mimi and went all in with a new set of volume lashes. I can confirm what the other reviewers say ... Mimi was completely flexible with booking, and even has evening hours, which is surprisingly rare. Now, let me preface the rest of this by saying, we are deep in allergy season in the DMV and my allergies are the worst. Even after a handful of Claritin, I rub my eyes HARD in my sleep this time of year. In the past, this meant that I would wake up with my lash count diminished by at least half of what I had when I went to bed the night before. By the end of the first week, I had usually lost all of my lash extensions, not to mention many of my natural lashes. (One time I went to the office with literally 4-5 unnaturally long lashes on either eye, and my colleagues kept asking, "Are you okay?" You know your look is off when people ask you that or the age old "did you do something to your face/hair?," followed, by "Oh ....") Anyway, in general, my lashes would last only a few days, instead of a couple of weeks. I figured, my fault. Allergies. But Mimi must be some sort of lash magician. As I laid there for my first appointment, my eyes were, of course, running like crazy because of the current pollen situation. I thought, no way would she be able to achieve many lashes, let alone any with hope of staying. But I sat up, and WOW. My lashes were thick and beautiful, so whatever if I only got to have them for a few days. At least they would be there for my event! Since then, I've continued to rub the heck out of my eyes at night. (Note: You should NOT do this if you want to keep your lashes nice. I am just admitting that I am a challenge.) My eyes are itchy and watery, as expected when the pollen count hits a million, but my lashes - almost a full three weeks out and a bottle of Claritin later - are still freakin' amazing. Mimi's studio is neat, clean and professional. She works quickly, and has an awesome personality to boot. Her prices are exceedingly fair, and the final product is superior. Mimi is the real deal. I came here to get my lashes done before my wedding - it was my first time ever having lashes done. The process was relatively easy - I showed up at 7am and we were done by 9am! The results were really beautiful and almost two weeks later, my lashes still look great & are just now starting to fall out a bit. My one reserve for folks looking for a lash place is the price- it's my fault for not asking before I started, but I had no idea getting volume lashes cost $295! Adding in tip, I paid over $350. I found Mink Lash Bar after looking for a place a closer to home when I had difficulty making appointments at my previous lash place. This has become my go-to spot ever since. I have had service from both technicians, but go to Emmy regularly. She is always friendly, and super accommodating with appointments. I love how much attention and detail she puts into making sure my lashes look great and any concerns I've had have always been addressed. I always get compliments on how full, yet natural my lashes look and have never left unhappy. The technician was nice and did a good job; however, i can't get over a few things: 1) the price we agreed on in advance was not honored. I was charged extra. The technician said it was her supervisor i spoke to. I really can't identify whose voice belonged to whom, but I spoke to two people who confirmed the same price and it was not what I was charged afterward. 2) i was also told twice that they use mink lashes (hence the namesake). This is not accurate. I even confirmed when I was there and was told they they were using mink. However, the lashes were the cheap cluster lashes you can find at Sally's. Very poor quality. Cluster lashes are also not good for your lashes, and they look horrible when they fall out. I had to wear strip lashes while waiting for the lashes to fall off, until I discovered glue remover on amazon. Even the photos people post on here don't look like real mink. I triple checked with other eyelash places, and they confirmed that these are synthetic cluster lashes. Note: this was for "volume" lashes. 3) for paying that much money, shouldn't they invest in better quality tape or undereye pads? The technician used sticky tape under my eye that pulled off some skin. That was actually painful, and it's a really sensitive spot that you don't want to damage. I've gone to many eyelash places and have never had this happen before. Some cheap places will at least place the tape on ur skin in other places to reduce the stickiness using your own dead skin, and that's about as cheap as it gets. Most other places use gel eye pads. No place has ever put sticky adhesive directly on thin, sensitive skin. Bring your own eye pads if you plan on going. Overall, I would give a rating of 4 for the outcome, but I'm upset about the misrepresentation or miscommunication--whatever you want to characterize it as. The work was pretty good, but I can't get over feeling cheated unfortunately. read more

Possibly the best lash artist in the dmv. I've gone to 4 other places now and have had extensions for months, and no one beats Mimi. I went to her with bald spots in my natural lashes from a bad lash experience, and she expertly hid them with volume clusters. I asked for a hybrid set, but she went above and beyond with the clusters and it looked like a volume set. The lashes I get from her are always beautiful, light and separated. She's always friendly and accommodating with appointments. Her prices are fair for the quality and detail that she puts into it. I will note she advises not to wet the extensions for 48 hrs instead of the usual 24, but I showered with goggles on and it worked fine lol. read more

Mimi is fantastic!! I have short blond lashes and even the most expensive lash extending mascara does nothing. Yes the lashes are expensive and you could get them cheaper somewhere else,but they are put on skillfully, beautifully, and save me so much time in the morning because I don't have to use eye makeup. I literally get compliments on my lashes wherever I go. Everyone at Wow is super nice. A refill takes about an hour, you lie on a table, are offered a blanket and close your eyes. Besides an occasional comfortable pressure you don't feel anything, I usually fall asleep. I get mine refilled every 3 weeks but I think most people do 2 weeks. Asked a lot of questions before my appointment because I've had a couple of bad experiences with lash extensions. Was very concerned about the quality of the lashes being used and made that known up front. They only use faux mink and $15 extra for first time clients. Wasn't 100% comfortable with that, but accepted the appointment. Showed up on time to find the establishment closed. I waited. Tech shows up and I ask to see the lashes being used. I don't want plastic-looking lashes. It is against their policy to show clients the lashes. Found it strange that they do not want clients to know what they are getting until after the service is complete. Yeah, I got out of there like the place was on fire. read more

I visited the Lash Bar and while I really like Emma, the following are my concerns: First and foremost, the cleanliness. While I understand they rent a space from the shop owners and this may be beyond their control, the shop smelled of stale smoke. Then there is the area where the lashes are done. The bed is covered with a quilt and a pillow that each customer lays on. There is no disposable paper that covers the areas and changed after each customer, therefore, each person's germs are embedded in the fabric material of the pillow and the quilt. This is extremely unsanitary. Secondly, the lash fill for the first time price of 95.00 is high. Thirdly, while I asked for a natural look, I was looking forward to seeing a difference in how my natural eyelashes look with a light mascara application.
