I have never seen such a terrible manicure/pedicure in my life. I only asked for a simple oval nail shape, but they cut the nails too deep and left the sides looking triangular. You could even see the scissor marks -- they didn't even bother to file them properly. What you did was neither a manicure nor a pedicure. It was basically just soaking my hands and feet and sending me home. I won't even talk about the cuticles around the nails because absolutely nothing was done. Very inappropriate toxic environment because of new male receptionist. It's with a heavy heart that I write this review. I have been going to WOW Nails & Day Spa for a few years now and had the pleasure of getting service from quite a few nail techs there. Some good, some bad, some phenomenal. All my positive association with this place has been stomped on during my last visit (Aug 30) because of the new hire male receptionist. While some of us may have heard of the stereotype of nail salon workers gossiping about customers in a foreign language, I can tell you from experience that this individual takes it to an extremely inappropriate level and is creating a very toxic disrespectful environment at this location. Not a single person, let alone a paying customer, should be told to sit when one doesn't want to nor do we need to argue about it. This individual not only spoke about me to another newly hired nail tech, but continued to do so even after apologizing to me once he realized I understood what he was saying. I didn't make a fuss at that time but it was beyond disrespectful and completely unnecessary for him to continue doing so! He still went to the pedicure area to continue complaining to Pang, who actually advised him to realize what languages others speak when you're going to speak ill of customers. He runs around the salon with another nail tech who was trying to slap him with a towel. I have friends buying me gift cards from here. I have brought friends and family to support the business. I have waited patiently when appts run late, bad outcomes. I have had great moments there too. There's great nail techs who have regulars! Amy, Pang, Mandy, Mimi, Linda - just to name a few. It's just unfortunate that the environment has now changed with this toxic individual. If you're the owner or manager reading this, this should not be acceptable behavior for someone you're paying and is the face of your business. You as the owner and manager are supporting this treatment on your customers and devaluing what everyone else has worked hard for if you continue to keep this individual who should be far from any people facing job. DO NOT GO HERE! This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a nail salon. I had an appointment at 4:30 PM and arrived about 15 minutes late. When I asked if I could still get my full service (mani, pedi, and acrylic removal), the nail tech confirmed that it was fine and even gave me a price estimate, which I agreed to. After finishing my pedicure, she suddenly told me she couldn't do my hands anymore and that I'd have to come back later at 7 PM or the next day. This was completely unprofessional--she should have told me from the beginning instead of wasting my time. She also mentioned that I was late, yet she took my appointment anyway and even scheduled another client over mine. When she finally agreed to do my acrylic removal, she cut off my nails and put my entire hands into gloves filled with acetone, leaving them soaking for over 20 minutes. This is NOT a proper technique, and it resulted in my hands burning, turning white, and becoming extremely dry and irritated. I told another tech about it, and when I washed my hands, I realized just how bad the damage was. At that point, I refused to pay because this was completely unacceptable and negligent. As I left, one of the staff ran to the door and yelled at me, which was beyond unprofessional. I have photos of my hands and the gloves they used. I wasn't surprised, because the UV machines weren't working and the technician didn't seem to care at all. All my nails peeled off within the same week. I called the studio and asked for a fix, specifically requesting a different technician, but they only offered a fix with the same person. Now it's just the first week after the fix, and a second nail has already started peeling again. I've had gel nails done many times before, and I've never experienced such poor-quality work. WARNING: DO NOT BOOK WITH PANG! HORRIBLE TREATMENT OF LOYAL CLIENTS. I've been getting my nails done at this salon for several years as a client of Pang's without a problem. However, I recently received the WORST treatment that I've ever experienced at *any* place of business and felt compelled to write this review to warn others. Pang started my appointment over 30 minutes late. I noticed she was very hurriedly painting my toe nails to make up the lost time. In her rushing, she missed taking the polish all the way up to the top of my toe, which left a visible part of my toe unpainted. Not a big deal but I asked if she could add a little more polish to correct this. Instead of simply adding a coat of polish, Pang used her FINGER to aggressively spread the polish around at the top of my big toe, which was still wet, while saying "What's wrong with it, huh??" Her actions inevitably caused a big dent in the polish at the top of my big toe. Instead of apologizing for the nail that SHE dented, Pang angrily said "I don't understand why you asked me to fix this!! Ugh!" This was incredibly unprofessional and rude but I remained silent to diffuse the situation. I wish the story ended here but it got worse when Pang began my manicure. After removing my previous dip polish, Pang abruptly stopped working in the middle of the service and out of nowhere announced that she doesn't "feel" like doing my nails anymore and told me to return another day. This caught me by surprise because I had not said or done anything in reaction to her outburst earlier and thought she had calmed herself down. At this point, I became upset because not only did I have to wait a half-hour to start my appointment, I was rushed through my pedicure and had to endure her angry and passive-aggressive comments, only to be abandoned in the middle of the treatment. I stated it was extremely unprofessional to stop a service mid-way through and explained I had an important event the next day and needed my nails done. She refused and walked away from her station. I would've been better off not having my nails drilled off if she did not plan to complete the service. I asked a nearby tech to speak with the manager. At first the tech wouldn't give me the manager's contact info, claiming he is not available and is on vacation. She eventually gave me his number after I insisted. After I spoke with the manager and explained what happened, Pang angrily rushed back to her station and began SCREAMING AT ME AT THE TOP OF HER LUNGS. She was screaming "YOU THINK RANDY [the manager] CAN MAKE ME DO YOUR NAILS?! I'M NOT DOING YOUR NAILS!! GET OUT OF MY CHAIR! LEAVE THE SALON!!!" I along with other customers stared in disbelief. I have NEVER been spoken to like that by anyone and certainly not in a professional establishment. The manager later called me and apologized profusely for Pang's behavior. He stated Pang has cost him multiple customers over the years due to her "bad attitude" and told me to return for complimentary services. I appreciated his efforts to make this right but I won't be back. It's very telling that he's aware of her behavior and yet continues to keep her employed there. If this is how they treat loyal customers, no one is safe. Save yourself the headache and poor treatment and go elsewhere! No need to reward horrible customer service with your $$$. read more

Needed to get my nails done so I used Yelp to narrow down my search and saw that WOW had a lot of good reviews. They're located in a luxurious-looking strip mall/building, and thankfully the building has a parking garage because we came on a rainy day. As two walk-ins at 4 pm, we were seen immediately. WOW has a lot of techs so it looked like everyone else who came in after us didn't have to wait either. We started off with pedicures and then later I got a dip manicure. I initially chose this place because I saw that their classic pedicure is $30, which is a little more expensive than what I'm used to seeing in Gainesville, FL but was actually the cheapest I had seen for this part of Virginia. However, when I told the tech that my boyfriend wanted the cheapest pedicure, she still gave him the spa treatment instead of the classic, and that was $45. As for me, my tech correctly gave me the classic pedicure, but I feel like she could have been more careful during cuticle care because two of my toes had started to bleed and sting. The same tech did my dip manicure, which came out beautiful. I had asked her to cut my nails shorter and to round them out, both of which she didn't do enough of, but in the end my nails still looked nice. I appreciate how thin she made the dip because I hate it when people leave the dip looking thick and chunky. The techs were nice, the spa was clean, and WOW's COVID precautions include putting up dividers in between members of differing parties. read more

I'm satisfied with my dipped nails, and they are holding up well after a few days. I am curious though if they last three weeks as claimed. Perhaps unintentional, but I really felt like they were really selling the dip nails to me because they were more expensive. I'm not sure if this is normal as I've only had my nails professionally done a couple times, but three of my cuticles bled as they were trimming them. Is that supposed to happen? They continued to feel raw for almost 48 hours afterwards. I think for me to feel like I was having a spa like experience is for my hands to be handled more gently. I felt like the way my hands were guided throughout the manicure, it felt like doing my nails was a hassle and this manicure just needs to be be over with to move on to the next person. I also saw one person get up to take a call a couple times while servicing someone's nails without even excusing themselves and apologizing when they returned. I am not sure how clean this place is. For a place that uses tools that can make me bleed, I did not see them get cleaned in between clients. That made me decide to put neosporin on the areas where my cuticles bled for a couple days just in case. The dip manicure takes close to an hour. There is a huge selection of colors. If you choose OPI, there is a $5 additional charge. It's $50 for dip nails, $25 (I think) for gel. I really don't think I would return given this experience, but if this is what it's like typically at nail salons, I think I'm going to do my nails myself. read more

I asked her how to remove gel nail polish and a customer next to me had to explain how. It was really frustrating. Some ways I felt maybe she acted like she couldn't speak English until we checked out. I don't mind broken English. Weird thing was Mimi said I had to come back and remove it. I know that's not the case because I looked online before I left. If you have a service job, please learn how to communicate with the your customers. At least make an effort to talk to them. 5/25/20 WOW! they really are open, but you have to make an appointment first. I talked to one woman in a yellow shirt who just might be the manager of the store. She is the lady I believe I orginally spoke to. Then I spoke with my esthetician named Amy. Amy is a gastroenterologist; as well, as esthetician. Amy told me a head if time that this salon does not do the pubic area of the leg. Yes, there is a difference as I found out by another esthetician at another store. Nevertheless, since Amy had informed me about this, I was okay with that. Eventually my normal waxing place will open back up. Amy moved fast and removed hair nicely. Yes the hairs are hard to see at times so do-overs were done too. The waxing was much needed, and the removal of the hairs on my arms is now gone. No more hair being pulled when I wear my bracelet. Amy was pleasant to talk to and I even made her laugh several times. This nail spa is nice, but it is not my normal one I go to. There are areas of the body that are not covered for men, but I was already told about that. I do appreciate that this store was open when many others are not. The a number of people were getting pedicures, but were spaced out and wearing masks. Washing your hands when you first come in is requested too. The customers I saw were doing their own thing as they got their treatments done. They all seemed to look at me except the brother on his cell phone. I was the only one getting something different as I followed Amy to the waxing studio. I have had the sitting while being waxed before and the esthetician removed wax on my arms. I don't like getting wax on my clothes and Amy is the only one who didn't. Still, I will request a large towel to go over my clothes show I have to sit there in my underwear. The whole experience was good, but in the future I will prefers to go to my normal places if I can. I think the only Drew back on this experience is the clean up of the wax need more attention to detail. I tipped Amy 15 dollars for her time and services. Thank you Amy and Thank you manger in the Yellow shirt. I will try your store again with a different service next time. Oh, I found out the price for a 1 hour massage is $80. Right now Xena the store manager (who was wearing the yellow shirt), says they don't have a massage therapist at this time. I will try them at a later time. read more

Went there because it was close to my house and never again. The lady who worked on my pedicure was a novice in many ways, the water was hot AF and she didn't adjust until I told her so, the cuticle cut was jabby and painful, and to end it all, it chipped before it finished drying!! I realized it as I was paying and her response was "oh." I paid $5 extra to get a leg massage and she slathered oil all over my legs and just left them like that. I had to get a towel to wipe it off myself. I would never go back. What a horrible, horrible experience. Ps. They were busy (I went Saturday morning at 9am) and not much social distancing happened there. She really liked that the dip powder wasn't super thick by the cuticle (the base of the nail). She's been doing my dip sets for the past 6 months and has done a beautiful job EVERY time! Today we did a Valentine's inspired set that I absolutely love! Not terrible, but nothing great either (at least not from my first visit). I had a gel manicure done elsewhere a while back and it was time for me to get it off, but since I didn't feel like making an appointment, I just looked for something close by. WOW Nails appeared to be within walking distance, so this is why I went here. Located right next to Pure Barre in Fairfax, WOW Nails is a pretty compact space but they sure do take full advantage of their space. I felt as if it was a bit crammed because they tried to fit in so many pedicure chairs and manicure working areas. I got there some time after 5pm and it was busy. Luckily, Nancy was available and she took me for my pedicure (since I feel bad going into a nail salon just to have gel removed) as soon as I picked my color. She was friendly and fast, and did a pretty good job on my pedicure ($28 for regular). Initially, she quoted me $5 to remove my gel but she had to put in some more effort and she charged me $6 - kind of petty in my opinion, but oh well. The whole time I was there, they played some church music - huge no no for me - I'm not anti religion but I also wouldn't impose my taste on my customer. Overall I could give it another try, but I also wouldn't go out of my way to make it there. read more

Selection of color is okay for gel and regular color - the initial color that I chose for my hands based on a color swatch was unavailable so I had to choose another color. I was recommended to come to Jeana for my lashes by a friend and wow! She is amazing! She's so cute and friendly. I was able to quickly set up an appointment the same day I called. Right away she offered me something to drink and we got started. I told her I wanted fuller and longer lashes but still natural looking. At the end of the day, I trusted her since she's the professional. I think it took about 90 minutes and I'm pretty sure I fell asleep (I was way too comfortable lol!) I've had tons of manicures over the years and this was by far the worst service I've had. The nail technician had me move seats 3 times within the first 5 minutes of being there. I asked for gel nails and they put regular polish on, when I asked if it was gel, the nail tech was confused and said no. She took the polish off very poorly leaving my fingers stained and then did a rushed gel manicure getting gel polish all over my fingers. The hand massage (if you want to call it that) lasted a millisecond. Overall, this was a very stressful manicure experience and I will not be returning. read more
