As a matter of fact, I typically drive over an hour to come to this salon. -The salon is friendly, clean and pleasant. -Vanny doesn't drill down from the cuticle line in an attempt to reduce the time necessary to come back (if you have been getting your nails done long, you know what I'm talking about! I always feel ripped off when other shops do that!) -She is gentle with my cuticles -My nails stay beautiful for a long time. I get compliments all the time - She will do special request designs! - The prices are about the same as the other area shops but they do a much nicer job! The last time I went to see her was before my Disney World vacation. I asked for a specific design of Disney themed nails and she did a fantastic job!! Now called Blossom! Seriously the best service and manicure/pedicure I have had in a LONG time!! This salon didn't change decor on the inside, but the service quality now is absolutely spectacular! I have never been greeted with such smile and help, as well as instantly making me feel comfortable and welcome. Once I got to my pedicure chair, another woman got a warm wrap and put it around my neck and a pillow for my arms. She then started my manicure while another technician was working on my pedicure. It was nice to be relaxing in the pedicure chair and they worked well together, doing very meticulous work compared to so many other salons. They do warm wax and hot stones as well as a full arm and leg massage for no extra cost, just included with their pedicure/manicure service. As they lead me to the nail drier for my toes the technicians offer a head/neck massage which was incredible!! Again no extra cost but with all the labor you do feel like your tip needs to reflect the effort. I did not feel pressured to say yes, and was happy to give a little extra tip because the service and massage were excellent. As the salon got busier, my service got worse. The technician stopped to answer the phone, laughed loudly, didn't speak to me at all, and generally rushed me. I got a "dip" manicure - I usually go to a place in Gainesville that I love but I live in Oakton. My manicures usually last me up to a month. I came about three and a half weeks ago and got a gel manicure with Tracy. She is very sweet and I am VERY pleased with my service. My gel polish has no cracks whatsoever, which is usually my main problem when getting gel!! You can tell from how much my nails have grown how long this gel lasted. They are obviously very busy and overbooked. Um, no! First of all, they have a $28 pedicure but keep it a secret as they offer you a book of spa services with this one missing. I chose the $38, the only one that wasn't $50. Then the girl is pulling up my pants while I'm standing on that one leg and trying to sit down. Lucky I didn't fall. Then she starts clipping my nails and tears one off and I yell from the pain. I ask her to round the nails and she keeps clipping them straight, all the while pushing so hard on another toe I yell in pain again. Where was the manager? This goes on and on. She damaged my one toenail so badly that it's going to take a year to grow out. It is still paining me terribly a day later. Hope there is no infection. When I was getting ready to leave, she and another girl had a conversation so then she jammed my sandal on and wrecked the polish. The other girl kept telling me over and over to leave the chair. Around 7pm tonight, I received hands down, the worst manicure of my life from Loan, one of the technicians at Kiwi Nails. Where do I even begin? $35 for a gel manicure. And the offenses begin here: 1) I asked for square nails with rounded edges. What she filed my nails into cannot be classified as square or round - just uneven. 2) The filing leads me to my next point - she was filing so furiously, there was no way she could have filed square, or round, or anything. And she cut me while FILING. That has NEVER happened to me before. She cut my fingers in four places underneath the nail - one that is relatively deep. I know they are four places exactly because when she went to remove the stickiness of the gel nails with acetone, my cuts burned. BURNED. 3) The nail polish application was streaky and uneven. Worse, it dripped onto my cuticles and stained there. She didn't let me inspect my nails between coats and was too busy chatting up her friends to pay attention to my nails. 4) The tools she used looked old, used, and dirty. That makes the cuts on my fingers even worse - everything felt unsanitary. And here's the worst part: when I mentioned that the cuticles were stained and the filing uneven, she first blamed: A) The nail polish. She claimed that gel coral nail polish streaks and drips onto cuticles. B) My nail beds, for not being "long" enough. I have had plenty of gel manicures, and have never run into EITHER of these issues. The least she could have done was offered a refund or a gift card - I did not have time for another manicure, and she didn't even offer to take them off and reapply them. She claimed that only one nail was messed up and this was after I told her the polish was all over my cuticles and proceeded to "solve" the problem by cutting more of my cuticle off. I will say that my friend who also got a gel manicure got her nails done by a technician named Paulina, and her nails turned out great. For now, I am stuck with painful cuts in my fingers, a terrible manicure, and $35 less in my wallet. read more

I would rate this with lower stars had it not been for the fact that I went here once before and had a mediocre experience. The first time I went was on a weekend and they were far more attentive but please, the local salons need to learn that people come to relax not to listen to the staff talk to one another!!!! I went in yesterday after work hoping for a more relaxing experience.... YUP, hoped, wished and uh no! Kim gave me a Spa Pedicure and it was the worst massage/pedicure I have ever had. She massaged my legs (not feet) as if it were painful for her or a chore. She cut my toenails to the point where it hurt and when I said she was hurting me she did not stop. She did not help me with any of my belongings or with the arm of the pedi chair, nor did she offer to turn on the chair itself. The manicure was ok but lacked the same enthusiasm. She asked me if I wanted paraffin for my hands but when I was in the last time it was part of the process, not a choice or extra. When she was finished with my manicure she left me at her table to have something done with her own toes. I went to the drying table to get my own spray, collected my belongings and left without one word from her. The only NICE thing I have to say is that the decor in Kiwi is very nice and the setup is fabulous.... Now, if they could just figure out how to make it relaxing like a spa should be????? read more

My friend recommended my kiwi nails salon to get a manicure and pedicure while I was home and visiting my family. I was between getting acrylics vs soft gel coat, but decided to go for the gel coat. AVOID COMING HERE!!!! I waked in and was quickly greeted by a lady who I think is named Mai. She helped me look for nail colors and was very nice at first. I thought I was gonna get good service, boy was I wrong. I had asked for coffin nails, since my birthday is this weekend. She gave me coffin nails, but crooked coffin nails. Each nail looks completely different. I'm so mad I paid 50$ for a terrible gel manicure. I'm so embarrassed to walk around and show off these nails. I went here about a week ago, maybe less, because my regular nail salon was closed that day. It's a very nice salon, well decorated and maintained inside. They offer mini waters to their clients. The staff is very friendly and cordial. I went in there for a full set of acrylic tips on my hands. The price said $35 and sounded good to me. She told me it would be an extra $5 for French style (pink and white), and I said ok. (So now my total is $40. The lady was very nice and spoke very clearly about what she was going to do and what I wanted. I told her I wanted clear tips and for the white part to be kind of thin (to appear more natural). She said that when they grow out, it would look bad if the white part was very thin, so she was going to do it just a little bit thicker (about 1/2 way). I said ok. The end result still looked like the normal white acrylic tips with a big portion being white. Whatever. She did trim the tips down, but not as much as I usually like despite my telling her I like them on the shorter side. Again, the length is not too bad- she did trim them with a nail file (I'll get to that experience soon), but didn't really initially take them as short as I usually like. She now asked me if I wanted gel on them. She said this makes them last longer. I said "sure". I had my hands covered in nail dust from the little machine thing and didn't think to ask how much extra that was. So I got the gel on and they do look really nice and shiny and even. As for the filing and cleaning up part. She was rough. She was working really fast (I think I came in close to closing time). She filed me raw. It was very quick her swipes and very firmly pressed down to the nail and the sides around the nail. I drew blood on several fingers. She just works with speed on her side and was a little more "determined" than most nail techs I've had. The eyebrow waxing. She asked me if I wanted an eyebrow wax. I didn't really think I needed one as I had just plucked and cleaned up my fantastic shaping that was previously done not too long ago by my regular salon. She said "we can just cleanup". I agreed and said "just a cleanup, not too thin". She even said "not too thin". We get back there and the process was fine- she was gentle and you could tell she knew what she was doing. But once I got the mirror- oh boy! They were freakishly thin!! I've never had my eyebrows waxed this much. Luckily, I can always fill them in with a little eyebrow filler or eyeliner for a couple weeks until they grow in a little bit more. So for the price surprise: $35 full set jumped to $40 with French style, jumped to $65 between the gel application and the eyebrow wax. Plus a $10 tip that I have the lady. It was an interesting and somewhat positive experience, but I will definitely return to my regular salon next time. Which, incidentally, is called Miz Nails / CC Nails, which is right across the street/ parking lot from Kiwi Nails. UPDATE: here we are about 8 days later and all my nails have fallen off. They have bubbled up with air and one fell off by accident last night. This morning, all of the rest came off with little effort. She said the gel was supposed to make it last longer. I was expecting 2-3 weeks. These all bubbled up and fell off about a week later. I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

I was visiting home for the holidays and decided to get my nails done with my mom and sister. It was late in the day and not too many salons were open, but this one had hours much later than the others. All three of us went in as a walk-in and they helped us right away. It was my first time, as well as my sisters first time getting a dipped manicure, so we definitely had a lot of questions. They answered all of our questions and really went out of their way to explain the process and even helped us pick out colors! We ended up getting gel pedicures, a gel manicure for my mom, and dipped manicures for myself and my sister. Both the manicures and pedicures were great! Both had nice massages and were paired with great conversation. Overall, my mom, sister and I are very happy with the service and our nails! It has been about a week, and everything still looks perfect! I will definitely be coming back if I'm ever in the area again! read more

Most definitely the worst manicure ever! Nail technician was NOT friendly at all... she was almost borderline unprofessional (kept checking her personal cell phone and talking on it several times). This wouldn't have bothered me if she did a good job with the manicure but NOPE, the end result was VERY sloppy and poor. However, she left the salon as soon as she was done with my manicure so I didn't even have the chance to show her how streaky and poor of a job she did. This place is terrible. I moved to Oakton and thought I'd try this nail place- it's walking distance- great! Immediately, before my pedicure had started, the technician was trying to upsell everything....ok, ok, it's a business, I'll let it slide. Then she starts the pedicure- basically $27 to wash my feet off and do a terrible job of polishing. No pumice scrub-no massage, she slapped a handprint of lotion on my leg and left it----I rubbed it in! She rushed the whole time but there was nobody waiting. Ridiculous. Then I get passed off to another technician for my full set- she was on her phone the WHOLE time. I asked her to please cut my cuticles and she either didn't understand me or didn't want to do it because I had to interrupt her phone conversation to ASK FOUR TIMES. Finally, I went in her tool box, grabbed the cuticle cutters and showed her what I meant. The set is ok- kind of uneven in places and I had to reshape them when I got home. I will never go back to Kiwi Nails. Also- the technicians talked among themselves the entire time. I really hate that...a little chatter is fine but really? Googled cheap brazilian wax and found this place. Paying $35 for a brazilian wax is a great deal, but it's not that great of a wax. I'm not sure if the wax is laid out unevenly, but I was disappointed a week later, and usually hair doesn't grow back for me until 2-3 weeks later. I'm glad a tried it, but I don't think I'll be coming back unless I'm broke and need a quick/cheap wax. Womp. The interior looks very nice though, the front of the salon has about 10 manicure stations, the middle of the salon has pedicure stations, and the back has waxing rooms. read more
