If someone gives less than 5 stars for this office... they are mad about life and can't be helped. I went to Dr. Oakes seeking an HONEST opinion about what I needed done and she gave it to me. She will explain the "why" behind what you need. It's refreshing to be treated by a medical professional who is genuine, kind, and cares for you like they would their family. Also, there is no trade off. She has the best bedside manor I've ever seen AND is extremely knowledgeable and a PRO. The rest of the staff is just as wonderful. Dr. Wendy gave my daughter such good Orthodontic care! She made sure to do what was very best for her teeth and smile. Other doctors considered implants and building up teeth, but Dr. Wendy knew my daughter's smile would be so naturally beautiful by straightening her teeth and aligning her bite properly and conservatively. She gave us such good attention, we felt like family. We also never had to wait on receiving service. Unlike a lot of medical professionals in today's world (school loans, rising rent, employee salaries), she doesn't sell-sell-sell, even if it means affecting her bottom line. There are not enough stars to tell you how much we love Dr. Oakes. My daughter has sensory integration dysfunction and in the past, even haircuts have been very stressful so we waited on orthodontics until she was 13 (which was a good decision for us). We consulted with other orthodontists prior to meeting Dr. Oakes but one had scary-looking equipment in the consultation room and proposed a procedure that didn't sound like fun (filing her teeth down to make more room?!). Dr. Oakes gets it that you have to tailor your words and approach to the patient. No frightening stuff here (and IF something like that were required, I know Dr. Oakes would find the right words to explain it to a child like mine)! My girl was worried getting braces put on her teeth would hurt but Dr. O and her staff have the patience of Job and got her through the anxiety. And she either loves what she does or is never in a bad mood or maybe both? BTW, I'm not affiliated with her practice. My daughter received orthodontic services from Dr. Wendy Oakes when she was employed by the Snodgrass-King dental practice. My daughter started her treatment in February of 2009 by being advised by Dr. Oakes to have 5 teeth extracted (1 of which was a permanent tooth!) and move her incisor teeth to replace her central incisors that she was missing. After 4 years in braces 1 move out of state and finding a COMPETENT orthodontist who knows what he is doing(!), my daughter has been back in braces for an addition 2 years moving her incisors back where they were originally and preparing for 2 dental implants! Dr. Oakes comes across as a "sweet southern belle" and charmed the socks off us, but her Incompetence has led my daughter to years of orthodontic pain, discomfort, low self esteem, besides the expense we have had to endure because of her bad advice! Looking back, I should have gotten a second opinion, but her southern charm fooled us in believing that her advice was accurate. STAY AWAY FROM DR. WENDY OAKES, OTHRODONTIST!!!!! read more
