Dr. Shrum always takes time to talk with me and address my concerns and I never feel rushed or like 'just another patient'. Bonnie handled my fitting for my new glasses. She was new to me at this location but was an absolute joy to work with. She was kind and had a great awareness for people and made my visit pleasant. I had to leave my old glasses for processing and when I went to check out, Donna even loaned me a pair of readers to hold me over till my glasses come in. She could have sold me a pair for $30 but no, she put the customer first... almost unheard of in today's society. There is no question that Dr. Shrum and his staff are top notch medical providers, but they are also at the top of their game in customer service. With a rare combination like this, my family will be back again and again and I recommend you do the same.

Everytime I come in there, she blocks my way to get contacts or speak to the doctor. Today, she refused to give me a pair of contacts to hold me over until I could order some this week - she then told me the cost was $20 - NEVER have I had to pay for any current prescription pair to hold me over in all the years as a client at this place. In addition, it's clear she is making up rules as she see's fit and based upon whether or not she likes you. When I confronted her with this and she again refused, I asked when could I speak to the doctor. She then took down my name and date of birth and went in the office with the door shut and took it upon herself to speak to the doctor and give him the narrative she choose to give him instead of allowing me to speak directly to the doctor by a phone call. After waiting and waiting, this woman came out to tell me that the doctor stated I had to pay for "trial" lenses. What a joke this place is. Furthermore, the last time I came in there to order contact lenses, she wrote down the prescription wrong - when I got them I had to go in the store and she had to reorder them. At that time, she decided to give me a pair of what she is now calling "trail lenses" to hold me over. But this story gets better - she had denied those same lenses that day I came into order my contacts stating she was out of that prescription - are you following me - THIS WOMAN IS A LIAR. I guess I was getting in the way of her commission as she was working with a customer trying to sell the overpriced eyeglasses in their establishment. I had a problem years ago with their other staff stealing money from me when I went to purchase glasses - its why I don't buy glasses from them because that commission has them salivating so hard they have to steal. Let's be clear, this woman who is lucky to be employed, has decided she doesn't like me and her ignorance shines through. It's okay, she's made me dislike her as well - all by her nasty self. I'm a true believer in karma and while this review may not stop all of you from coming here, it will cause you to think twice when encountering this woman who is inept & clearly just holding onto her job by giving her narrative to the doctor. And BTW, the doctor is an idiot to only hear one side of the story - that right there should tell you all you need to know about this place. I suffered from lots of painful eye straining even when not at a computer, dryness and irritation in my eyes that wouldn't go away with eye drops, headaches and constant motion sickness. After going to a primary healthcare doctor and walking away with nothing I decided to get my eyes checked. My husband started coming here for his contact lenses and he liked them so I decided to come too. I was told that the "reading glasses" I was given in the past were a wrong prescription, which I believed because they did NOTHING for me. Then, Dr.Nguyen told me about this new exam called Neurolens, at first I was skeptical, I wondered if they were just trying to sell me something because my insurance didn't cover it. But after reading the pamphlets, watching some videos on this new technology, and discussing with my husband I decided to try it. It was quite expensive but let me tell you, Dr. Nguyen was right. My results were that i had misaligned vision which was why my eyes strained so much even though I have 20/20 vision! He explained to me that it would take some time to adjust. The first week I hated wearing the glasses because everything looked distorted! I felt like I was going to fall and I'm a busy mom , I was a bit worried. After complaining to my husband about having to wear glasses when I have perfect vision, at around 2 weeks I stopped complaining. These glasses were the solution. I don't know how, I don't know why, but whenever I wear them I do not strain my eyes at ALL. I don't feel motion sickness, my eyes have not been dry at all. It's just unbelievable how well they worked. They're not like any other lens, but it definitely helped my misalignment and its now been a few months and I have seen a HUGE difference. I was taken aback having never experienced this protocol before. I arrived at check-in, was seated and waited on the young lady to come and get my preliminary exams completed. She was distracted by keekeeing with her good girlfriends... I mean this really threw me for a loop. I thought I was being punked... I was sitting up there bare-faced half blind with my blurry vision. She got my glasses in her hand and she chit chatting catching up with her friends... All I could do was say WOW.. shake my head and patiently wait on her to finish her conversation. She wiped down the areas with alcohol that I would place my face on to examine my eyes. She didnt allow the areas to dry down before she instructed me to place my face on the machine. She took me into the other room. The visit went accordingly - doctor came in examined me, discussed implications and options, and concluded my visit. Immediately after I left my face started to burn and blister. I called back on Monday and sent over pictures of my injury. The office manager said that I wasn't injured and that my blisters looked liked pimples. No accountability, no accommodation nothing... This place needs to be shut down or the optometrist needs to find better office managers and technicians. I've been wearing glasses since I was two. Never in my life have I ever experienced a visit like this before. I'm horrified at the way I was treated. The best thing I can say about this visit is that I discovered a new allergy. I ultimately chose to keep my glasses I had so I didn't need to get that done. BTW they told me about that charge on the phone before my appointment was confirmed. I have received glasses at the shop in the office and the service was fairly professional. The glasses were of decent quality seeing as the frames were free, covered by insurance. They have lasted 2 years now. I like that they have in the past billed me later after the insurance was billed. The staff has forwarded the report without much trouble to my personal care physician. I really feel that they care and are worth going to even with a 3.5 drive there. They were willing to schedule my fiancé and my appointment at the same time since we live 3.5 hours away. They have provided great customer service and I feel his advice is very competent.
