I had a couple minor problems with this company so I decided to use another mechanic in town. I'm so glad I did! 2.5 years ago they charged me for brake pads and new rotors. Took it to my new mechanic to have the brakes done again, thinking they could turn the rotors, and found out Wrightwood auto never replaced the rotors at all, and they now have gouges in them. Don't go here unless you don't mind being charged for services that aren't done, and ESPECIALLY don't go here if you're a woman! read more

Took the kids to their first snowboarding experience at mountain high over spring break and happened to snow like crazy. Highway patrol wouldn't let us pass without snow chains so went to the hardware store to buy chains and wasn't confidant to install the chains myself so saw this automotive shop across the street. Went in and asked if they can assist installing the chains. They were more than happy and very helpful. Within 10 mins they had the chains on. I asked the fee and they told me it was on the house. I felt bad and tried to tip $50 but they wouldn't accept. It was shocking to find an auto shop not only don't try to rip customers off but go out of their way to help and won't even accept a tip. They will break parts trying to replace another and make you buy the part they broke for triple the price , saying it came in like that.. VICTOR can NOT be trusted. I would go get a second opinion before ever leaving your car here and if you do.. take pictures of everything necessary, get your quote and everything in writing or you will be upcharged because he will say "It wasnt a normal job and took more time" MIND you, we live in town and pass by it multiple times a day.. only to see it sitting in the lot every time with the hood closed. Overall we got upcharged $100 and they broke a part that we had to go buy that cost ANOTHER 100$ on top of the quote. We bought all the parts needed, so all we paid for was work.... Although they were not able to accommodate my specific need, which were not necessarily reasonable, in terms of being a niche situation, the person on the phone took the time to listen to me, talk to me, offer me suggestions and was very friendly. I didn't use them because I couldn't, but left the phone call with a positive feeling about them. With that, I'd say give 'em a call and see what they have to say if you have any automotive needs. I spent $7300 on my car to have the rack and pinon replaced along with other front end repair work at Big Apple Tire in Victorville. Within a month I started having problems with shaking when I stepped on the brakes and a terrible clunking noise. I decided to take it to my local repair shop, Wrightwood Auto. They drove the car extensively to find the problem but could not diagnose the issue. When they returned to the shop they retorqued all of the bolts. That was the problem. Big Apple failed to torque down the bolts causing it to clunk and shake. I am grateful to all of the guys at Wrightwood Auto for taking the time to find an correct the problem. Incompetent Big Apple tire who can charge $7300 and not take the time to bolt down the repairs properly. read more

A friend of mine brought his car in. The 'repair' took longer than quoted, the issue was not repaired and unfortunately, the problem was worse by the time these guys were done. Transmission casting now has a piece missing and leaks, bolts missing, seems as though the transmission was dropped. The shop was not receptive of when issues were brought up to them. I so wanted to like these guys and to make this "my place" to get the work done on my cars, but I had a couple bad experiences that told me this is not the place. I even came in here after one of my close friends told me this is a bad place to get my work done because they are always busy. I thought it must be OK, but it was not. To start I had an oil, lube, and filter change done here and they charged me a 0.2 or 0.3 of labor to change my air filter. I think the shop rate is $80/hr so my cost was $16 or $24. When I asked about the charge the response was that they usually catch that before they issue the bill, but that they just didn't this time. That's a lot of my money for 20 seconds of labor, but that's cool to so now I have K&N filters on all my vehicles so they never get changed at a shop. I can live with that. Secondly I had one of my trucks in for a brake job. They did brakes all around only instead of replacing the front rotors like I asked they called me and said they rotors are within tolerance, to be turned, so would I want to turn them instead of replace them. That didn't sound like a bad plan because people have been turning breaks since the car was invented, it seamed most economical, and it simply is not a bad practice. The truck is done and and I take it home, but the next day I drive to work and notice the smell of burning brakes. I give the shop a call and they say to bring it in so I stop in. They throw it on the lift and adjust the back brake because it is so tight the wheel won't turn by hand. Done deal and I am on my way with no charge. A couple weeks later my wife tells me her truck is vibrating when she uses the brakes. When I drive the truck the vibration is so noticeable that I recognize the brakes are warped. The vibration is so bad that I switched cars with her so she would be in a safe vehicle. I call Tom and tell him that the brake job went south and that I need to get the truck in to be fixed. At that time I reminded him that it was just in there. I drop the truck off. This time they pull off the rotors and replace them with with new ones. I go in to pick up the truck and they give me a bill for $150.00. I stop right there and remind they owner Victor that the truck had just had the brakes done and that the truck has less than 3000 miles on it since they had done the work. He told me me that every thing had to be working properly or the brakes could warp. I reminded him that after they did the brakes they had to back off the rear brakes so we know they were tight. He told me that I had chosen to turn the brakes and not replace them with new rotors and I reminded him that his shop had turned them so they should warranty the work. I even told him that I would pay for the new parts he had hung if he would take care of the labor charge. The $150 was all that was on his mind so I gave him the $150. Got in my truck and have never been back. It is till hard to think that a person would not stand by the work that comes from their shop. This was my experience. I hope it is helpful. read more

The poor reviews on here are out-of-town whiners who have unrealistic expectations and have made unbelievable claims. Victor and Tom only want to do the best work they can on your old ratty car, and have done well for me for the past 10 years. They are responsive, work well with others, and give realistic estimates for the work to be done. They don't overcharge, and make sure the work is done right if another UNRELATED issue happens quickly thereafter. Wrightwood Auto Service ripped me off. I would not even give it one star in a rating. I brought my 1994 Buick Regal to Victor for an overheating problem. He replaced the radiator and SUPPOSEDLY changed the intake manifold. He charged me a total of 940 dollars, and returned the car to me unfixed. After replacing the radiator and SUPPOSEDLY changing the intake manifold, Victor told me "I'm sorry, Honey. You have two blown head gaskets." I asked him, "Is there a way you could have known that the head gaskets were blown before you did all those expensive repairs to my car?" Victor told me, "No, Honey. There was no way I could have known that without replacing the radiator and the intake manifold first since there was a leak. LIAR!!!!!!!!! Ready to sell my car to a junk place, I decided to get a second opinion. I asked TWO MECHANICS if it was true that Victor could not have known that the head gaskets were blown before running up a bill of $940. They BOTH told me that Victor had LIED TO ME! They explained to me that you can easily tell if the head gaskets are blown by checking the oil. If the head gaskets are blown, there would be white stuff in the oil. One of these mechanics, feeling bad that I had been ripped off, took my car to his shop. He discovered that I had a bad water pump. He simply went to Autozone and replaced it for only $30, the cost of the part Since then, I have been able to drive my car to work down the hill two times already. My head gaskets WERE NOT BLOWN. Victor simply didn't know how to get the job done and probably wanted to get me out of his hair, so he told me a lie. I would NEVER go back to Wrightwood Auto. I would warn anyone against wasting their money there. They LIE AND CHEAT, and Victor didn't even catch that it was the water pump causing the problem. Wrightwood Automotive Service rips off women. Tom and his staff rescued us as we were preparing to leave for a big trip to pick up our 5th wheel. Our truck literally broke down 2 blocks from the shop and he jumped to and towed it to the shop and spent 3 hours diagnosing a persistent short in the secondary ignition system. We were left standing on the side of the street with all of our things and our two dogs on a Friday afternoon in a ski town with not a hotel room in sight and no wheels! Tom set us up with a loaner so we could go down the mountain and find a hotel and wait for the repair to be competed. Within a few hours he let us know it was done and we were able to continue our journey with only a half day lost. His charges were reasonable for the work they put in; he did not charge us for a tow and did not charge us for the loaner. He was a "saint" in my opinion and he saved the day for us and our dogs. read more

I was in the market to change the timing and drive belts of my 2004 Hyundai Accent, and since I recently moved to the area, I figured I'd start local and check out W.W. Auto. After briefly talking with the owner and discussing what all I actually wanted replaced, I was fairly satisfied with the quote they offered, and decided to get my belts replaced by them. I dropped off the car around noon, and walked home (it's less than a 15 minute walk from my house), and was able to pick up my car before 4 p.m. As soon as I started my car, I was impressed with the way it felt and how it handled. True, it was only driven a few blocks, and only time will tell the true satisfaction of this service by Wrightwood Auto, but for now I'm giving them 5 stars read more

I was very impressed with the friendly, competent service I received with Wrightwood Auto service. I was diagnosed with a crack in my radiator. They were able to get the parts and fix the problem in a timely manner. This took place March 24, 2012. I just got back from having my car serviced in December 2012 and was told by my service manager that Wrightwood Auto Service did an excellent job and made the right decisions in also replacing the thermostat. They also told me that the costs of this job including the hours charged and parts were very fair. I wrote thiese belated comments after hearing my service manager's comments and realizing how lucky I was being out of town and finding a fair, honest repair service. read more

I bought a truck from an individual who used heavy weighted oil to cover up a knocking noise the engine was making. The day I brought it home after driving it for about 30 minutes I stopped in front of my house and it sounded like someone was beating the crap out of the engine with a sledge hammer. With no laws in place to protect a buyer in a private sale I was devastated. I had the truck towed to Wrightwood Auto Service. Tom confirmed that the noise was from the timing chain and cam phasers. There is only one way to repair this and that is to replace the engine. Again, devastated. But Tom took an awful situation, helped me make the right decision and within a week, I had my truck back with a shiny new engine and now she purrrrrs like a kitten. Thank you so much to everyone at Wrightwood Auto Service for making my truck awesome and safe. He even fixed a couple of extra things for me and only charged me for parts. After skiing in MT High, my car wouldn't start. I had to tow my car to this place since it was the closest. I told him that i saw smoke coming from the starter motor and they told me they can try something to let it start just once so i can take my car to any shop i like. They told me that it is $41 for this. Since i live about 2 hours away from this shop, i ask him to give it a try. What they did was hammering the starter motor while starting the car. Didn't work. I had to leave the car overnight since they didn't have the parts. I had to take Uber going home and coming back the next day. Right before paying, i review the bill and noticed that $41 was in there. I was my bad that i didn't check the bill carefully when i left the car the other day so i asked them if they could removed this $41 since it didn't work. They rejected. I understand they may change it if i didn't let them replace the starter motor. And if i knew what they were going to try, i wouldn't let them. ( hammering starter motor wouldn't work since the coils were all burnt ) They told me they had to pull one of their mechanic from whatever he was doing in order to work on my car. I should've asked them if they took $41 out of the service fee he was working on. It didn't take more than 5 mins for this service. I cannot imagine they charge for the fee that didn't work even if I let them replace the motor. read more
