I had the honor of getting to know more about wut-a-pickle up close (sort of) and personally, thanks to a Yelp Elite Event. It's beautiful to see a local black-owned business succeed by doing something they're genuinely passionate about. Having pickles reframed by Shontay as not just this sour snack was AWESOME. I got a container of three spicy pickles (mango, apple, and chili sucker) and had chamoy and tajin mixed in. I loved being able to taste the difference in flavors, and tell myself I was being somewhat healthy because electrolytes...right? Her shop is small, but laid out in a way that doesn't overwhelm you, and visual people get to see exactly what they'd get (which adds to the experience when you're presented with a rainbow of pickle colors in the counter). Bonus design points? There's a Nipsey Hussle mural painted on the building so you can't miss them! read more

I'm totally obsessed! As I write this I have a half bag of the green apple in my fridge and finished off the tropical punch yesterday so I'm almost out! These are super duper delicious! A friend of mind post everytime she goes to this place and I had to try it. First off I love the art piece of Nipsy on the side of the building, its beautiful! When I walked in the customer service was A-PLUS, the young lady ask if it was my first time and I said yes! She then told me the specials and she had the menu memorized which was impressive! I love seeing employees take their job with pride! Well I ordered one bag of the tropical punch and one bag of the green apple and I am outraged! If I would have known that the pickles were going to be DELICIOUSSSS I would have ordered 4 bags! The flavor will have you licking your lips for more! No question, I will FOR SURE be back here! Pickles were my absolute fave as a child and trying these were nostalgic for me! If I knew about wut-a-pickle much sooner, I would have been a supporter of this business a long time ago. I tried for the first time earlier this week and got the Wut-A-Mix with flavors: green apple (my fave), tropical punch, spicy mango, and pineapple. I didn't enjoy the spicy mango but everything else was perfect. I also added the sour belts which were the perfect mix of sweet w/the flavors I chose. In terms of quality, the sliced pickles are nice and thick with a perfect amount of crunch. After coming earlier in the week, I knew I would be back sooner than later! I came tonight and got the wut- a- mix again and ordered the small jar of green apple pickles. Ahhh! I got the same flavors in the wut-a-mix with the exception of the chili sucker. Not a fan of that flavor either. I like spicy but there is something about the spicy flavors that I don't enjoy. Other than that, this is one of my new favorite obsessions. As far as customer service, I appreciate that they have wonderful customer service & are more than willing to elaborate n the variety of flavors offered. read more

I *never* thought I'd drive to Long Beach for pickles.... then again, I never imagined brightly colored pickles with flavors like tropical punch, spicy watermelon, or blue raspberry lemonade. But I made the drive & the pickles were worth it! What an experience! Before I share about the pickles - be prepared for the most cheerful staff to greet you when you enter. Then they'll guide you through the selections & patiently answer your questions & share recommendations. (As if they don't answer "How did you create these flavors?" a dozen times each day) The pickles are great. Sweet. Tangy. Fun. I brought several bags home (two for me & two as gifts). Folks giggled as they tried each flavor. (HINT - If you get a mixed bag, write down which flavors are which) I'm coming back & bringing a couple friends. I've wanted to try wut-a-pickle for a while but I'm rarely in Long Beach so I decided to order some cherry slices online. You know? Just to try it out. I ordered on a Monday and the slices arrived a few days later - which really impressed me because I wasn't expecting it to arrive so fast. As soon as the 1st cherry pickle slice hit my tongue, I had an immediate flashback to my childhood. Whew! It was absolutely delicious! Before I knew it, I was at the bottom of the bag. I played myself by ordering that little bag of slices. I got on her website and ordered a jar immediately. I can't wait for the next batch to arrive. I ordered the little tray with three slices of each pickle of your choice, no juice so they don't mix all crazy in the container. The owner of this business is so friendly and lovely, and the offering is so creative. Tucked away in an eastern corner of Long Beach, this shop feels like a favorite neighborhood place to go. There are tons of different flavors to choose from, and pricing is reasonable to get a sampling of several of them. It's important to know that these pickles are either super sweet (like Kool-Aid sweet) or super super super spicy. There don't seem to be any savory pickles on offer. I prefer the savory, so wish this option existed, but my SO was thrilled by the selection. Putting a crunchy topping on it, like crushed Jolly Ranchers, makes it extra unique. So this is an interesting different type of place. It isn't too often you come across a flavored pickle store with a wide range of flavors. As I walked in I was greeted by Shontay the owner whom was very pleasant to speak with. I let her know I was an Yelp Elite and I was there for the samples. I was told I could pick four along with a jolly rancher flavor if I wanted. So I had the spicy green apple, mango peach, mixed berry, tropical punch, and the jolly rancher. They were all so unusual, because I've never had anything like them which made it very interesting for my pallet. I could really taste the spice on the green apple and the hints of the other flavors on the other pickles as well. But I liked the spicy green apple the best. Now the store is rather small but you will notice it from the street. It was clean inside and everyone was masked up. If you want to try something different this is the place. Would not recommend. Saw their booth at a music festival in Downey. My kids love this stuff so of course we had to try one. The young lady at the booth was not welcoming, she didn't look happy to be working on a Saturday night. We ordered a pickle wrapped in fruit by the foot then drizzled with chamoy and tajin. It was 10.00. I was expecting a big crunchy pickle for that price. We got a soft limp warm pickle. It was maybe 80+ degrees out and we got a warm pickle? Pretty gross. So I waited to do this review after I tasted different ones and can really put my all into the review. At first I was skeptical when it was first brought to my attention. But then my boyfriend's mom had gotten it for her and her coworkers and I just so happened to try the Tropical flavor. I liked it and was intrigued to try out more flavors. So far I had Mango: tasted like a regular pickle with a hint of mango, I had the chili sucker: that's my my favorite one. It really does taste like the sucker, i had quite the few. I would definitely recommend this if you love pickles and different flavors as well. Kinda reminds you when I used to eat pickles with kool aid. I traveled from Rancho Cucamonga to Long Beach to be able to experience Wut a pickle and was happy I did! I came here on a pickle-y whim this past weekend and I really enjoyed my snack. My husband and I were unsure of what flavors to order and the kind ladies behind the counter answered our questions and made suggestions. Also, they were helpful in providing us with hand sanitizer and napkins for my baby because some random lady touched my 2-month-old's hand on our walk to the shop.
