It's been a long week. Looking for a cocktail and want to hear a great dj - this is your spot ! We did grab some Cajun fries also but the drinks are what we came for lol. The very berry mint mule wasn't bad but the blueberry lemon drop is what stole the show! Great customer service and while the drinks are a bit pricey, they're worth it. It's a cute place with a nice mellow vibe. I enjoyed myself there. I went with a friend for a birthday party. The food was basic but it was fine for a drunk person which I was. I ordered chicken tenders and fries and added more tenders as they were very small and we all were told to add more tenders. They were cooked well . I asked for extra extra crispy and they were. My only issue was that I also ordered drinks from the bar. The money for the bar and the kitchen came out weeks apart from my card. That annoyed the heck out of me for about 20 seconds. I really don't like when places delay taking the money from a debit purchase. Anyway I'd go back., I actually plan on going back in the coming month or so. Hmmmm. Let me just say straight out the gate I like the idea of this bar and I'm sure it's great but I was just rubbed the wrong way. My bf and I decided to stop in for a quick drink while waiting to be seated across the hall at Vice. When we walked up there was a security guard standing next to a podium and velvet rope (eyeroll). He was kind and told us he needed a minute while he grabbed the host/manager whatever... The man walked up to us and said something along the lines of "Hi, so what exactly did you guys want to do?". He was very flat and almost annoyed. I said to him that we wanted a drink. He then asked again "what we were trying to do". So I explained that we wanted to have a cocktail while we waited to be called down to dinner. He asked how long of wait it would be. I said we were told about a half an hour. MY GUY SAID "OK, but you have to be out of here my 7:50". (Eyeroll) I slowly looked around at the 7 people patronizing the bar and assured him we could make that happen. He said we could go to the bar or sit at the table. There was no room at the bar for two people so we opted for the the table. We seated ourselves at a high top table and it was uncomfortable but since we were on a time crunch I didn't mind. Upon sitting down we were given drink menus by a woman who said our waitress would be over shortly. Upon her arrival the waitress asked if we were meeting anyone else and we said no. She then explained that she could take our drink order but she needed a credit card. She then took our drink order and requested a card. (Girl I get it, you want the card). So I handed it over. I find it super tacky the way that interaction went but whatever. I ordered a blueberry lemonade and my bf ordered a negroni. They were great. The usual overpriced drink that's priced more for aesthetic or whatever the young people say. So we of course finished our 1oz drinks in record time by 7:55pm. We waited... and waited and nothing. Our waitress came over and asked us if we'd like another drink. I said "Yes of course, but we're on a strict time limit and have to be out now". She looked puzzled. I went on to explain our interaction at the door. She told us to hold on and went looking for the super friendly manager guy from the door. She returned a short while later to explain that there was group of people coming at 8:30 and we had to be gone before their arrival. Well when she put it that way I couldn't wait to have another drink!! She explained that the people coming had a reservation and we did not so we would be moved in order to make room for them. I actually apologized because I assumed that because we couldn't make a reservation at Vice that we couldn't make a reservation at the other bars. She explained to me that the Rooftop bar and WXYZ are separate entities and unlike Vice they do accept reservations. (Good to know for someone else). I thanked her for the information and ordered two more of the same drinks. I would have sat there until they awkwardly made me leave but unfortunately I got the text that our table was ready a few minutes later. So, while I waited for the waitress to return I had my boyfriend go sit at the table so we didn't lose it. When the waitress came back she handed me my bill. 4 drinks was $50! They were mediocre at best and certainly not worth $50. Thankfully the credit to the bar was for $25. I could tell they were judging me for using the certificate but I still liked the waitress and tipped her accordingly. She was nice and from what I could tell she was just doing what the boss wanted her to do. Overall, I would not go here again. I don't mind paying the money for overpriced drinks, at an underachieving bar with overachiever vision but I do mind being talked to like I'm a nuisance all because I want to patronize a new place. It's a hell no for me. But best wishes and warmest regards to those who decide to give it a shot. My bf said it's like a "Vegas knock off of a bar". W XYZ is a hidden gem in Buffalo! Great food & drinks, live music, and so much more. Definitely returning!

We stopped by here after dinner for some drinks and to hang out. The drinks were a little higher priced but tasted good. There was plenty of good seating, including plenty of private tables to sit at with your group. It was pretty empty here for a Saturday night when we stopped in around 10. We only stayed for one drink and then headed up to the Rooftop bar. The lighting and ambiance here was pretty cool though. read more

I will be honest - I venture to WXYZ quite frequently, however I only go because that is where many of my friends usually end up on a Friday or Saturday night. Let me go through some of the pros and cons. PROS: Upscale place with high-quality liquor. The bar is quite luxurious and well-decorated. The 500 Pearl building is quite beautiful and I'm glad it's now a part of the Downtown Buffalo skyline. CONS: It is often very difficult to get access to WXYZ unless you have connections there. I am only able to get it because one of my friends has VIP status there, so I use his name whenever I show up. If you want to get upstairs to Patrick's Rooftop, FORGET IT. Here's the thing - this is Buffalo, and most of the people I know who are from Buffalo do not like to hang around the pretentious crowd who enjoy their VIP guest lists. I am in a bar yoga league with Heal Bflo that meets for eight weeks and goes to four different yoga studios twice and bars after every time. This week we were at 500 pearl with WXYZ as the bar after, and they had a few $5 drink specials for us- the Namaste which had vodka/cucumber in it, the Asana mule which had vodka, cranberry and ginger beer, and a few different wines. I ordered the Namaste and it was delicious. The vibe in this bar is upscale and trendy, and I like the furniture and little private booths they have. They had two musicians with acoustic guitars playing songs, which was nice and unexpected on a Wednesday. I looked at the drink menu and most cocktails were $10 and up, so we definitely got a good deal going with the yoga league. I'm not sure I would be willing to pay $12 for a cocktail or $7 for a bottled beer if I returned here in the future. I definitely want to check out the rooftop bar the next time it's warm enough. read more

We waited almost 20 minutes for a drink.. others kept walking up and were served before us. Men. And we were a group of women. We were with a large group and were about 2 minutes from leaving. My friend finally received her wine and received barely 2 ounces. Completely unacceptable. And worst. They killed my buzz. Way to get us excited about hitting the rooftop. read more

Stayed here over the weekend and the service was awful. Granted it was on the busier side (all bar chairs occupied) it wasnt THAT busy. We waited about 15-20 minutes to place an order and we were sitting at the bar. It's pretty bad when the bartenders continual make eye contact but never take your order. My friend and I were less than pleased considering we were about to spend $20+ just on two drinks... once we did finally get them they were good drinks. The waitress was great. Props to her. However, our food came out 40 minutes later and all we ordered were wings and fries. Not only were they cold but very unappealing. We made reservations for outdoor seating and our party which was supposed to be 6-8 was put under a small heating lamp and a little bar that could barely fit out things and the drinks we ordered. We asked for a different place seating because half of our party was in the cold because the heating lamp didn't cover everyone. We were denied because apparently all spots have been taken. However no one came to claim the spots we were denied. And when a party of TWO arrived they were put at the fireplace which would better fit bigger parties. Shortly after they moved to be seated else where so i do not understand why we were denied that if other customers were allowed to do that.They also failed to adhere to the new safety protocols where customers or different parties are spaced out. Not even three feet away was an even bigger party. 40 minutes later our food arrived cold. A couple minutes after we received our cold and unappetizing food we were told that we have a 30 minute warning because another party was arriving. However when we requested to see a manager about that he immediately came back and said it was all a misunderstanding. Might I add that you could smell the liquor through his mask. It was a terrible experience. Maybe the staff were having a rough day having that their attitudes were borderline RASICST. But hopefully they can get it fixed. read more

Arrived at this location out of curiosity ... plus my friend and I were bar hopping. The room is quite large and has a sparse but interesting decor. The bar is large and has ample seating. There is a pool table, and a few TV's as well. We took it upon ourselves to look around at the renovations on several floors - which was fun. The bartender was very friendly and upbeat. My friend and I had a couple of the House martinis (his was dirty and mine was made with cold brew) which might have been a bit overpriced - you decide, it's worth the visit. read more

The comments are all true about the inexperienced servers, however, the true issue is management. My friend and I put our name on a waitlist to go to the rooftop which was 35 minutes. We got drinks at the indoor lounge area during the wait. The morale behind the bar is terrible. Servers yelling at each other with the manager scolding everyone as well...right in front of paying patrons. After an hour wait we go back to see how much longer it is to get to the roof...which is now an additional 45 minutes. No thank you. read more

Beautiful place, it truly is,but the lack of experience from the bartenders is terrible. It was busy and the bartenders were not stepping up their game and hustling. We waited 18 minutes for a drink. The bartenders were so slow, taking their time, talking to one another rather than making the money and serving the customers. The bartender would pour one drink to the top while only filling up the other drink 3/4's. And she didn't only do it with our drinks, I've watched her do it with everyone else's drinks before my order, I mean, Jesus, we stood there for 18 minutes and within those 18 minutes I witnessed a lot. The. We asked for shots, she fills mine all the way and the two other shots were only filled half way. A beautiful establishment like this, you need experienced and hands on bartenders that hustle and get it done, not these 21 yr old children who are amateurs. And the fact that the place was out of some liquors and wines is definitely bad. read more

This place has great potential and I'll go back to see if figure out how to run it. We went on a Friday night a week or so after they opened and clearly they weren't ready for customers. There was a large party in the bar. I counted 5 or 6 servers coming and going behind the bar: 5 or 6 overwhelmed, disorganized, unprepared servers spinning around and not managing the demand. I only had 1 drink because they couldn't figure out how to serve me the second (I was part of the large group: the bar knew we were coming; many of us had this experience). read more
