We stayed here on a priceline package deal, and I was glad I was a little picky about the hotel. The Wyndham was very nice, and while we couldn't check in early when we arrived our stay was pleasant. There was a folk musician conference while we stayed there, and the lobby always had a group of people playing acoustic guitars. It was very ambient. I'll stay here again when I'm in town next, since it is just a few exits away from everything, and the surrounding area of the hotel did not make me feel unsafe walking out to the rental car. My Garmin did have issues with the street address - so I had to use the Longitude and Latitude coordinates to save the location. read more

I loved this hotel. This was one of the hotels suggested to us when we were coming in for a conference at a venue nearby. My cousin lives close by and she recommended we stay here as well. Since we were travelling with my teen, having a decent pool on premise was also a plus. We had a tasty breakfast buffet and the staff was quick to get us out and on our way for our conference and gave us a to-go cup for our tea/coffee without us even asking - nice touch. The price point was good. I called earlier and asked for a price and got a quote. When I called back a week later, I was quoted a different rate. I asked if they could do better considering the earlier quote and he came back with an even better price than originally quoted the week before. Parking was ample to and well lit. We will probably stay here again next year. read more

I stumbled upon this for a great rate with a plane ticket on expedia, and I couldn't have been in a cooler place. There were some loud college girls staying on the floor that needed inside voice lessons, but other than that this place was great. The lobby is loaded with musician photos. Customer service was bad, room furnishings shabby, and sink will not drain. On top of that the hotel states in their web page: Downtown Austin Hotels, Wyndham Garden Austin Soars Guests of the Wyndham Garden Austin hotel are bound to experience Central Texas at its best. This 100% smoke-free and pet-friendly hotel is just three miles from downtown Austin, including... Yet pet friendly to them means a surprise $50 fee. When I mentioned that the web page said they are pet friendly they said yeah for a $50 fee. But the fee covers the whole stay, which would be great if I was staying a month, but for one night it was over half the cost of the room. Plus they put us in a room with only double beds, very drab colors, beat up furniture that looks like they got from the Salvation Army, and the sink doesn't drain. It is just sad that Wyndham's room is worst than the last Motel 6 we stayed in, not to mention Best Western, and Hampton inn, which were all truly dog friendly with no extra fee, and all where less expensive. Wyndham will not be my first choice in the future, and this one never again! read more

I'll start off by saying that this is not a bad hotel - we were fairly satisfied with our stay. We got a room over labor day weekend for a little over $130 after taxes. I absolutely hate the "Texas Music" theme of this hotel. There's stars and pictures of country music singers everywhere. It's cringe-worthy to me personally, but I digress. The room was clean and didn't smell like sweat or smoke. Almost all hotel rooms are a little but musky, which this one was. It was a little small, but we don't need much room. No fridge, which was awful for us, but everything else was satisfactory. The TV's are much bigger than other hotels. The bathroom was clean and the housekeeping even folds the towels into shapes. The black tile and light bulbs used are fantastic. The toilet was crooked, but that only looked strange. The bed was a little firmer than I expected, but the pillows are heavenly and soft. Everything smelled clean and fresh, and the set up of the room is nice. There's a chair with a foot rest, an entire desk set up with a little faux flower arrangement. There's no cable TV though, but we still found a cooking show to watch that entertained us well enough. Free Wi-FI. There's no breakfast included in the rate, so that's a big bummer. This is a green hotel, so they're environmentally friendly. This might be an annoyance for some, but it's appreciated on our end. They include signs that let you know to re-use towels if possible, and you have to use a room key that you insert into a slot to turn on your lights and control the AC in your room. When you leave, you take it out and the utilities switch to an "efficiency" mode. We thought it was strange at first, but it's actually a really cool thing that Wyndham does to help the environment. The check in didn't exactly make us feel like valued customers, but the service was good enough. We didn't know there would be a $25 charge that stays pending on your card until you check out. While understandable, it's just inconvienent and strange. During the check in process, we signed up for Wyndham Rewards. Signing up earned us 3,000 bonus points, which the attendant told us already would earn us a free night. Later, we discovered from another attendant that a free night is actually 15,000 points and there's nothing we can do with 3,000 points. We were a little peeved at that. All in all, we would possibly would stay here again. It would be far from the ideal choice, but it's not a bad hotel for the cost at all. My stay in this hotel was so great! They have labeled vegan options in the restaurant, which was so awesome. But the biggest highlight of my stay was the cruelty-free and vegan shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion! It's rare to see that in a hotel, and it's so important to me. Honestly, will go back to this hotel solely because of that! So great to stay somewhere that makes an effort to to not buy products that test on animals. I recently spent six days/five nights at the Wyndham Garden. Overall it was a good experience. My few complaints are very minor. The good stuff: The Wyndham Garden is a better-than-average three star hotel. Despite having all sorts of food sensitivities, I had no problem ordering stuff I could eat at the restaurant. The food is good and reasonably priced. I truly enjoyed the WG's Austin music decor theme in the public spaces. I've also been to this hotel to attend a conference in the past and was impressed by the various conference halls and rooms. The hotel is pet-friendly. I don't recall how much extra that cost me, but it was reasonable. Also, the hotel is fairly close to the airport and you can arrange to be shuttled over on the hour. Additionally, I needed to park my car which was pulling a small U-Haul. They had space for that out back. My few complaints: I had specifically requested a microwave in my room when I made my reservation and was told this could be accommodated. However, that turned out not to be the case. The only microwaves available for guest usage were on the first floor. My room was on the third. I would also have appreciated a small amount of freezer space in the room's mini-fridge. Regarding the facility itself, some of the hallway carpets are nearing the end of their lives, some of the artwork was damaged, and one of the elevator doors didn't really want to open all the way. This hotel is a solid 2.5. Like others have mentioned the set up is a little weird. They do have a little bar and breakfast place inside the hotel. They have hardwood in their rooms, which I thought would be nice, but I could feel crumbs under my feet the entire time. This hotel was also LOUD. Not the people or anything but the amenities in the room were loud enough to wake me up in the middle of the night. The toilet was the worst though. It was booming and would make the "flushing" sound for like five minutes. The shower was also semi weird. It would go from "ahh this feels great" to scalding in a matter of seconds without the knob being touched. If the price was right I'd probably stay here again, but it would have to be VERY right. read more

Disappointment after disappointment: I have a bunch of pictures to share: 1: Doesnt the hotel monitor whats going on. The first night There were people running up and own the hallway from 10pm to about 1230 am. These teenage girls that were a few rooms down also knocked or kicked my door very loudly 4 times waking up my entire family. I tried to call the front desk but... 2: The phone didn't work. The front desk button and so I called the number on the phone it self, guess what that didn't work either. 3: The second night it started again This time I immediately opened the door and saw the girls run into room 436. I had to look up the number to the hotel online in order to call the front desk. I demanded something be done. They said they would send someone up but after waiting in the hallway for around 10 minutes I called the front desk again and someone else answered and said the first person was coming but.... 4: I can go somewhere else if I'm not happy. (Really I'm already in my PJs trying to sleep) 5: I went downstairs and wanted a phone number for corporate, they instead gave me a number to the general manager, Bryant. 6: In speaking with Bryant the last morning, he listened somewhat to my concerns, but really didn't give me a feeling that he cared at all. 7: The pool the pool was closed the entire time, I picked this hotel for a pool and a gym (The water in the hot tub was almost green) 8: No TV in the Gym just hanging wires 9: The treadmill had a slippery surface on the running area. This caused me to slip and hurt my ankle. 10: The smith machine (Exercise machine with cables and weights) On one half dosent work at all because the cables are damaged. The other half barely works but cannot use 2/3s of that function because it doesn't go down all the way. (CREATES A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE) 11: No dumbbells, The empty rack is there however. 12: Duck taped the handle on the gym door so it works properly. 13: The bathroom sink, hot water side doesn't shut off unless you turn the handle just right. (Somewhere in the middle) 14: The toilet had a slow leak. (This is an issue when you're trying to sleep and every 15 mins or so it refills itself for a few seconds. 15: Cereal on the floor from a previous guest. A better job sweeping would be nice. Our room smelled like stale smoke. Pretty sure we asked for a non-smoking and that was confirmed by the front desk lady when we arrived. The weird thing was that the hot tub was hot and wonderful during the day, but then when we went back at night (about an hour before the pool area closed) it was more like a lukewarm tub. We asked the maintenance guy (who just happened to be outside) to fix it and he went in to the maintenance room, came back out and told us that the water level was low and that it wouldn't get any warmer that night. I truly enjoyed my 3 day stay in Austin and it was in large part due to my stay at the Wyndham Garden Hotel. Here are some of my thoughts: Pros: 1. Friendly workers who are always willing to help and answer question 2. Airport shuttle service 3. GYM - my number one reason I enjoyed it. Plenty of gym equipment and space! I loved that they had TVs, medicine balls, hand weights and yoga mats! 4. Large rooms and bathrooms 5. Conference and meeting rooms 6. Coffee shop, restaurant and bar 7. Computer to use and a printer/copy machine 8. Pool and hot tub 9. Laundry facilities 10. Plenty of parking outside Cons: 1. No microwaves in the room. I had to walk down to the first floor to the laundry room where they have their one single microwave 2. The coffee shop coffee sucks! Considering that the PROs of this establishment certainly outweigh the CONS, I would come back again and stay here. I would totally recommend this place to other people visiting! read more

Not a bad place to stay if passing through Austin. This is my second stay here, first time during week 2 of ACL last year. Last weekend we stayed for two nights. Room was very clean and bed was comfotable. The bathroom is very small, but other than that it is a very good value for what we paid (~$200 wkend) We had brunch next morning and it was a breakfast buffet, food and service were both good. There were some kids operating the cafe and could get some training but otherwise, it is good considering the convenienct location off of IH-35. read more

Didn't have one issue with this place. I got the room I booked and it was clean. Check in and check out was a breeze. There is no continental breakfast but they do have a restaurant/cafe that serves breakfast buffet or sit down service based off a menu. If you get the buffet for breakfast it's $11 and you also get to choose between getting an omelet or a waffle. They also brew Starbucks coffee. Will definitely come back to this hotel. read more

Well, for starters, it looks nothing like the pictures you see online or on Yelp. It has this strange run down feeling as if it has this constant use and they don't quite keep it up. It was also very dirty! There was stains and dirt all of the hallway, elevator and our room did not look like it was swept. Had a funny sticky feeling in the whole place like the night before there was a frat party and they n Vera got it clean. We also asked for a roll away cot for our 10 year old son and they charged us $20. It always feels weird when hotels nickel and dime you for all these little things which you would hope would just be a common curtesy. You then start noticing they only gave you one soap in the bathroom and stuff like that. Won't go back. read more

I recently spent a night at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Austin, located on IH-35 at 1600 Woodward St., and wanted to do a quick review to express my appreciation for a couple of things I experienced there. First of all, my spouse requested an ADA accessible room as I have developed some disabling health conditions in my old age (on a side note - getting old sucks, dammit!) which make getting around and doing many every-day activities challenging. Imagine my surprise and happiness when we checked into our room and I discovered the BEAUTIFUL roll-in accessible shower, complete with many grab bars and BIG built-in bench seat! I knew I was going to be in cleanliness heaven when I took my shower! Thank you, thank you, thank you Wyndham Garden Hotel for creating an ADA shower that REALLY WORKS for this disabled person! *Now, if we can just do something about that hard, uncomfortable molded plastic toilet seat, I will be totally happy about the bathroom, LOL. Secondly, the book I found in our room, "Celebrate Austin" is the BEST book about local "eat, see, & do" information of any that I've ever read in the many, many hotels and resorts I've visited in over the years. It had great local history about music, restaurants, places to visit . . . definitely not the typical "show glamorous advertisements about the most expensive places to shop and eat that normal people cannot afford" hotel books. I was so impressed that I took a postcard for me, and a second for a good friend who visits Austin once or twice a year, to order the "Celebrate Austin" book for both of us. I'm sure all Austin hotels have this new book, but I wanted to let the Wyndham Garden Austin Hotel know that I appreciate them providing this awesome Austin resource. And finally, I wish I had more time (and energy . . . that getting old thing again, dammit!) to spend wandering around the Wyndham Garden Austin Hotel to look at all of the great pictures of Austin music artists, and read the histories displayed throughout the Hotel common areas. What a great way to tell guests about the rich music heritage we have in Austin, Texas! Back in the early 90's I was the press agent for "Bobby Mack and Night Train" who played at The Pearl Bar in Austin, and other venues in Texas, and I was wondering if there may have been a picture of Bobby Mack somewhere in the mix. I will be back to the Wyndham Garden Austin Hotel just so I can take some time and enjoy this amenity, and probably enjoy another long, hot shower in the awesome ADA roll-in accessible shower. ;-) read more

Lovely stay! The staff I interacted with at the front desk and the restaurant were the friendliest people I've ever encountered at a hotel. My room was well-stocked and tidy, the gym was clean and spacious for its size (to find it, you go outside by the pool, FYI), and the pool/hot tub area was fun. There is no continental breakfast, but there is a casual restaurant and coffee shop area. This hotel has the standards of a luxury resort at the prices of a smaller-scale chain. Have stayed here twice now when visiting Austin. The hotel is clean. Our room has always been ready on time and the bed is very comfortable. My interactions with the staff have always been a positive experience. The check-in process was speedy both times. The manager even helped me out with a refund on a non-refundable booking when the hurricane in Houston disrupted our travel plans. It is not directly in the downtown area, but the price is great for the room you get and only a 6 minute Uber drive to all of the action. Will continue to book here when staying in Austin. read more

You know what..in its class this is the best 'pound for pound' Hotel I have ever stayed at in the USA. Clean, well organised and with a musical bent to the decor. Ideally located for getting in and out of the centre of town as it is a few hundred yards off the I35 at exit 231. We were here for SXSW Music Festival and considering the place was ram jam full of revved up roadies and every genre of musician from all over the world they coped with everything we threw at them, literally. They even had the common sense to situate all the bands around the pool area and ignored the fact that we were using the pool and jacuzzi sometimes up to 6 hours after the 11PM curfew. During our stay we arrived and left at all hours of the day and night and the staff were helpful and polite and supportive to the extent that those who weren't working came to all our gigs. The room I had was spot on and had everything in order with a huge King bed and on the Saturday they even popped in a roll away bed for a friend who turned up. During the stay they served proper cooked breakfasts from the early hours til midday and the 'to order' omelette's were just the ticket. The icing on the cake was the catering manager Van organised a farewell party in the bar for us on the Saturday night and provided free food and drink for all. A dangerous thing to do with a crowd of Brits but hey, they never flinched once and the Jack + Jack + Coke mix they made was full on. The ones I tasted could have brought down a charging Rhino. In return the band set up the acoustic gear and played solo acoustic gigs throughout. We were joined by other bands as they returned from their own gigs and what a session was had. We finally ended up outside by the pool into the wee hours and when it came to check out on the Sunday we had none of the usual push to get us out by midday. Good job really cuz most of us were still welded to the mattress! Of all the gigs that we attended throughout the SXSW, the one at the Wyndham on Saturday night was by far the best. I stayed during the middle of the week, and the parking lot was still pretty full. I had to park around the side where was almost no light, so I was not a fan of having to use my phone as a light to see where I was walking. This is located very close to downtown without actually being downtown. Expect the typical Austin traffic and construction if you go in to downtown. The employees were all very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. If you want something heated up in a microwave, you have to walk to a far corner of the hotel and go inside the laundry room. The room itself was fine and the bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also clean and looked like it had recently been upgraded. However, the major knock against this hotel was the shower experience. The hot/cold knob doesn't go all the way to the hot side, but rather right about in the middle. This is a scorching hot temperature. The cold side goes all the way over, but that's ice cold. Be prepared to spend a good 5 minutes trying to move the knob a centimeter at a time to get it to just the right temperature. Once you finally have it in place, you get about 3-4 minutes of that temperature, then get ready for a blast of ice cold water. I don't know if it's the plumbing or they have limited hot water...but this was very inconvenient. No less than 5 times I had to move the showerhead to the side and wait for it to get warm again before I continued the shower. Overall, the hotel is nice and I would consider staying again if the showers would stay consistently warm. read more

Received great service from the front desk. I arrived early and took a chance asking if I could check-in early. I was in luck and a room was available which made me really happy since I had been up since 6:30 am. Shortly after settling into the room I got a call from the front desk asking if everything in the room was okay. I also received great service from Frankie in the restaurant. She was very attentive and kept my coffee full and even gave me a fresh one to-go! My room had a nice space to work on my laptop which I appreciated. First of all....The service here was HORRIBLE. The lady at the front desk took 4 hours to check my friends and I in. The room smelled awful, I'm not sure if it had even been cleaned. Also, the pathway from the main lobby to the hotel rooms was extremely hazardous, considering the rooms were outside the building. Our room phone was not working during out stay and the staff wasted no time in getting someone to our room to try and fix the problem. I ordered room service during our stay and was pleasantly surprised at how quick the service was. I only had to wait 10 minutes when the estimated time was 20 min. A pleasant surprise. I have to say I was a little nervous when I rolled up to this hotel. I booked online and some of the photos have the Myspace angles going on. When you see the hotel in person you realize how dated it is. Not to worry, though, the hotel has been maintained well. Somehow I ended up with a suite over the SXSW weekend for $205 a night (thought I was getting a standard room). We had access to the suite from the pool area, and there was also a back door that went to a parking lot. Made it very easy to unload the car. There were two rooms in the suite. One room had a kitchen with a couch, dining room table and a flat screen tv. It's a shame we didn't need to use the kitchen. It was too cute. The bedroom had two beds, and a big dresser with lots of storage and another TV. The bathroom was pretty hotel standard, but we also had an extra sink area in the room. Very nice when you have three people sharing a room. I would definitely stay here again, but make time to lounge at the pool or in the hot tub, or visit the hotel bar or the Starbucks. read more

This review is strictly for ReVive restaurant at the hotel. Normally you wouldn't expect a restaurant to be that good in a mediocre hotel far far away from downtown. But I was pleasantly surprised. After my week stay in Austin, Revive is one of my top fave restaurants. The burgers were awesome. Packed with flavor and portions were big. You can substitute any burger with a turkey patty which was excellent. I ordered the blue burger which consisted of grilled mushrooms and onions with bleu cheese on wheat bread. it was soooo delicious. And the fries/onion rings were extra crispy. it had actual flakes on them almost like tempura. earlier we had eaten at casino el camino which is known for their burgers but revive blows them outta the water. a few coworkers ordered the bread pudding with bourbon sauce and a side of vanilla ice cream. i took a few bites and i have to admit it was one of the best bread puddings i have ever had. not too sweet. it was just right. we raved about it to our waiter mike and he said it was the cook's own recipe. the cook Bridgette came out later to greet us and told us that she came up with all the recipes on the menu which was pretty impressive. everything tasted so good. as for the hotel? well, it did its job. i had a roof over my head and a nice comfy bed to sleep in. the rooms were spacious, the bathrooms were nice, good soaps and lotions BUT the Internet connection was weak. it would disconnect and connect throughout the night. Their "gym" was g-h-e-t-t-o. 3 cardio machines lined up next to each other in a small glass outhouse by the pool. awkward. Their "starbucks" espresso machine was broken downstairs. so that meant no lattes, americanos or mistos for me, just luke warm drips with occasional coffee grinds in it. i got a bagel one morning and it had a small patch of green mold on it. so someone gave me another one with two bagel tops, which made me wonder what happened to the bottoms? hmmm...perhaps they had mold on them? i'll never know. The other sucky thing, which isn't their fault is that the hotel was kinda far from downtown. and it was also a hotel that not many cabbies knew about. there was absolutely nothing around the hotel. nothing walkable. no where to eat. it's just freeway, more hotels and dealerships. read more

(We were able to park right behind our suite too) If you have stayed at Wyndham before, (we have stayed in many of their resorts that were beautiful worldwide) keep your expectations real low for this location. The shower sucks. You either get scalded or frozen to all get out due to type of knob they use Having a room with fridge and microwave was great Limited TV channels I would rate this place as a 2 star hotel but we got lucky and had an ok stay with no real issues, so 3 stars. Nothing to complain about, really. Clean, comfortable rooms; straightforward but tasty eats in the restaurant, funky music-related art and artist bios in the hallways. Fellow Yelper K.M. had it right when her husband said the rooms have a 'dorm' feeling to them (in a very positive sense of the word) meaning that the furniture is built into the walls, with clean simple lines. They have toiletries you'd actually wanna use, which is a nice change. When I checked in, the friendly front-desk guy told me a tip when he noticed I booked my hotel via hotels.com: He said, "If you find a rate with a third party, just call the hotel directly and we'll totally match it. Also: on the off chance that there's a problem with your room, the third-party won't be able to do much of anything to correct it; but if you book directly with the hotel we can refund or reimburse you no sweat. This trick works on pretty much any hotel, not just Wyndham." Pretty neat. Anyhoo, no errant pubes anywhere, comfy beds with 827346 different types of pillows to suit even the highest-maintenance pain in the arse, plenty of hot water, good water pressure, enthusiastic toilets and bathroom fans (sue me, I'm a little neurotic). Stayed here for the Austin City Limits festival and it was perfectly fine. All but 1 staff member was pleasant, the rooms nice(hello flat inch TV) and comfy. Considering it was festival weekend, the hotel was quiet and I couldn't hear people next door. Prices are reasonable $150/night, but you can probably get cheaper deals when there's no event in town. Taxis are about $10 into downtown from here, but you can also take the bus, which at $1.50 for a 24 hour pass is a great deal. Only complaint is that their hotel entrees are truly awful. Sandwiches and burgers are OK (how can you mess that up?), but do NOT under any circumstances order an entrée. Portions are small and overpriced. read more

Decent business class hotel with bar, restaurant, and conference facilities. I got it through Priceline at $80 something. Good location if you need to be south of Austin or have quick access to downtown without the downtown prices. 3.5 stars. read more

I booked this hotel because I've stayed with this brand before and I've always been very happy. Unfortunately, this was not one of those cases. Everything about this hotel is outdated and looks nothing like the actual pictures. You get this feeling from the second you walk in the door. There were stains all over the carpet in my room, the bedskirts were all incredibly wrinkled and looked unkempt, and even the appliances look like they are from the 80s (see pictures). The lighting was also super dark. There's a small light at the entrance and two lamps, one on the nightstand and one that's in the corner. There's a small desk lamp but it's not very helpful. My thermostat also kept adjusting itself back to 71°F despite my multiple attempts to lower the temperature to 65°. Every time I adjusted it to the lower temperature, 10 minutes later it was right back to 71°. This was incredibly frustrating and I feel like I was being baked in my room. The only saving grace of this hotel is the staff. The front desk check in went very quickly, when I had to call about the thermostat someone was sent up right away, and everyone I've spoken to in the hotel has been incredibly polite and very professional. It's sad that the hotel being outdated is overshadowing the amazing staff, but customers will be in touch with the outdated nature of the hotel more than they will be in contact with a staff member. Update: Please don't book here! The beds are like concrete, the water in the shower changes every 10 seconds from burning hot to freezing, my room thermostat still doesn't work, and I cannot get the cleaning crew to stop waking me up despite the fact that I have the 'do not disturb' sign up. Sometimes they come back again in an hour too! I just cannot express enough how cheaply this operation is put together, I will not ever be staying here again and likely not at a Wyndham after this. read more

My girlfriend and I stayed here for the final six nights of 2013. This hotel is an excellent value with even better customer service. In particular, I want to praise Guest Services Manager Jason B. for his outstanding work. Our late-night check-in went smoothly; the staff member was helpful and explained a few key details about the hotel. Our standard room was aging ever-so-slightly but everything was clean and we never heard the elevators and vending machines right outside our room. The A/C was quite loud but we were able to keep it off by changing the temperature setting. The bed was badly sagging but we were too tired to notice. The fitness room was easy to use and had everything we needed to work out. (Note: in the fitness room there was a big poster of Austin native Lance Armstrong with "Seven Time Tour de France Champion" written beneath it. My guess is that this dates the hotel's last renovation to about 2006. Time to take the poster down: Armstrong is a fraud and not much of a fitness inspiration!) And the restaurant staff was friendly (we got a ton of freshly-made onion rings for the amount we paid). The parking lot got full in the evenings but we never had trouble finding a spot. The hotel is quite well-located: you can be downtown in ten minutes and on South Congress in five. And for us the price was right: about half what we could have paid for a marginally better hotel downtown (we've stayed downtown before too). On our third night there was a problem with the A/C machine in our room: suddenly it wouldn't stop turning on despite our best efforts. When we unplugged it at the suggestion of the night staff it wouldn't stop ticking (loudly enough to keep us awake). The night staff was sympathetic and professional, and offered to help us move to a new room. When we moved to that room we found it was not as well-kept as our previous room (beat-up furniture, etc.) and had an odd smell (probably because the night staff person mistakenly turned on the heat for a bit when we arrived). So we reluctantly decided to stay in our original room and brave the bizarre ticking. The night manager apologized again and said he would leave a note and make sure the daytime manager solved our problem whenever we were ready the next day. When I came down to the front desk the next morning, thinking we would probably just check out and find another hotel, my faith in humanity was restored. Jason, the Guest Services Manager, said he had been waiting for us to contact him. he apologized unequivocally for the inconvenience and asked for an opportunity to make things right. He proposed upgrading us to a better room and compensating us for the bad night. I thanked him and said I wanted to be able to check out the room before we made a decision about staying (remember that the first room they wanted to switch us into was subpar and that our original room also had a sagging mattress). I said we had an appointment that we needed to leave for in 30 minutes and wanted to make a decision about staying before we left. 20 minutes later Jason escorted us to a much, much better Executive King room. He had placed two bottles of wine, a handwritten note of apology, and twenty "Wyndham Bucks" (for use in the restaurant and bar) on the desk. The mattress was perfect (he said the original problem was probably a broken support rod, not a bad mattress), the A/C machine was much quieter, and we had a nice view of Austin from our window, we got a mini fridge, a coffee maker, and a bigger, better-stocked bathroom. The room upgrade was free and he did not charge us a penny for the bad night we spent in our old room. This is customer service! This is how you make lifetime customers! Professionalism, empathy, and a personal touch. Jason did not make excuses or try to make things our fault or simply move us to a new room with a half-hearted apology. He went above and beyond to correct a wrong and in return he earned Wyndham two new customers. The amount Wyndham lost financially making things right for us is far less than what it will gain from us going out of our way to look for Wyndham Hotels in the future. Someone give that guy a raise! By the way, the rest of our stay was excellent--only marred by some comical COPS-like police activity right outside our door at 1:30am on New Year's morning: apparently some girl had broken her boyfriend's nose in a drunken outburst and was trying in vain to avoid two police officers' questions about it. The boyfriend supposedly had a gun and the girlfriend supposedly had a father who was going to be "sooooo mad." Good times. read more

We stayed here back in February while we were visiting Austin for 5 days. This hotel had its ups, and its downs. The room was great, everything we asked for and expected. Maid service was great, no problems there at all. The TV was a little confusing to figure out, but seeing as we were busy interviewing for jobs, and sightseeing, not a huge deal. Its location was hard for us to figure out, since its on the frontage road, and where we are from [Ohio] there are no such things, but after a few minutes of driving around we figured it out. And the location made it super easy to hop onto 35, so in the end, probably a good thing! We werent able to test out the pool or the whirlpool, as it was February, but they didnt look that awesome when we peeked out at them. We also couldnt check out the fitness center area because of some remodeling they were doing. Which brings me to why this hotel has only 3 stars. I wish I had been told up front that they were going through a remodel when we made our reservation. Getting there and having to walk through a construction zone just to get back and forth from your room was annoying. Had I known about it, I probably would have made a reservation somewhere else. Oh well, Hindsight and all that. *Also, their breakfast wasn't free and the "bar" downstairs was ridiculous, a teeny room with some alcohol, stools, and TV's showing sports. Blech. read more

Great all around from the staff, to the location, to the rooms. Thank you Amanda for making my trip extra special. I am glad we were able to make room for my family that surprised me here. Sometimes one bad issue can really alter an experience. The hotel is nice enough in that "holiday inn" way: everything is of slightly above average quality across the board but nothing stands out as special. It's like Vanilla ice cream. And the TV was down right terrible. Not a big deal unless it rains the whole time on a vacation in south Florida; then it's a big deal. I don't spend much time in my room when traveling but With the cost of a nice hotel room where it is, it amazes me That there are no H D channels available. It's not that it kills me but it make me feel nickel and dimed. The TV is not able to display a "guide" channel. Good luck channel surfing in a strange city and finding what your after. The TV may not be a big deal too most guests but the fact remains that if you turn it on, the whole experience make the room feel cheap and dated. Plus I'd like to have some clue as how to find a news channel. I have defiantly stayed in hotels that are not as nice as this one that have had a far better TV setup. With a hotel that's seems to strive for "better than average across the board," a failure like the TV isn't made up for through a pretty view, supper service or any other attribute that would mitigate it. read more

Hotel is outdated but who cares! Everything is functional, enjoyable and useful. Staff are amazing and made our overnight stay enjoyable. Hotel is secure after hours which is a great feeling! Plenty of truck size parking, free too! Sad I only stayed one night, would have enjoyed my time there. Cheap and short Lyft ride to downtown Austin! read more
