I remember as a kid I was an avid reader, but for some reason I thought comic books were really lame…read morebecause they weren't real books. They were just pictures with a few words and wasn't even close to what I was doing knocking out multiple books in a week. Sometime in my 30s though that all changed. As I got older,I came to appreciate the high quality of the medium,in regards to being able to have such complex stories work with such high quality artwork. So I started collecting comics and became a frequent customer to A-1 Comics in Roseville located on Sunrise Avenue. The top two things I love about this location are as follows. -Their employees really give excellent customer service. They are very helpful in assisting the customers in finding whatever they are looking for. A-1 has two other locations in the Sacramento area and multiple times I've been in Roseville and they were sold out of what I was looking for and they took it upon themselves to call their other locations to check if they had what I wanted-that's excellent customer service. -Second thing that truly stands out for me about A-1 is they aren't cheap on inventory-every week when new releases come out, they always have plenty of copies so that as many customers as possible have a good opportunity to get the issues they want-not all comic shops do this-others keep such limited inventory that they sell out too fast-A-1 rarely lets that happen. This Roseville location pretty much has its own parking lot,so there's always has plenty of parking available for its customers. In closing, I really do recommend this shop for all your comic needs-it's a pretty awesome place filled with pretty awesome employees and I always look forward to heading back out there.

My favorite Game store in Sacramento…read more It contains a large catalog of card, board, strategy and miniature games that will appeal to a casual laymen, a beginner, or the serious die hard enthusiast. There are 2 parts to this large store, the showroom area with all the games, miniatures for your perusing and purchasing pleasure. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful in recommending a game you may like, or answering inquiries into availability or ordering a game they may not have in stock. The 2d part is large game room that is stocked with games you can test out, or just come in with your friends, or meet new friends and try them out. They publish a monthly schedule of tournaments, contests, or just open game playing. On this occaision, I came to one of the Semi Annual flea market bazaars, where anyone could sign up, for a small fee , get a space to sell their older games , or maybe crafts. There is No fee to be a shopper st the bazaar, so you can find some good deals on games, miniatures, cards, books, terrain, storage or dice. I scored a Zombicide game that was unpunched at a great price for my son & I to play. All in all, just a great store for any game enthusiast of every age from beginners to the hard core gamer.

I love coming here to browse during a walk around midtown. The staff is always polite and helpful…read more They have a vast selection of comics and graphic novels. My comic-book-collecting husband rarely leaves Big Brother empty handed. For Dungeons & Dragons fans, there is a wall full of character minis to choose from. I was so excited to find my characters and my friends' characters after not finding them at other comic book stores. They also have board games and accessories. I particularly love looking at the display cases. Lots of the figurines spark childhood memories which make the shopping experience extra fun. You can tell that each item is handled with care and priced appropriately for collectors. Don't forget to look up to admire the wall decorations! The owners and employees put a lot of thought into this shop to make it fun for patrons of all ages.

My family and I were downtown last night for dinner and decided to pop into Big Brother Comics…read more Big Brother Comics is located on 20th and I Street, right around the corner from Tank House BBQ - parking can be questionable since it is Midtown though. I am not a comic book person, but I do like visiting and walking around like I know what I'm looking at. My husband is a nerd for comics so we popped in to see what new stuff they had. I liked seeing all of the cool interesting games, books and figurines. They offer so much at this store and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly! My husband bought the Ultimate Spiderman comic and my daughter picked out a Teen Titans Go book - I think it came out to a little over $30 for both so not too bad. Pricing was fairly decent - you get what you pay for and depending on the rarity! They even have a large room with tons of tables and chairs next door for gaming with friends. Overall, Big Brother Comics is a pretty cool store! I'm sure we'll be back soon!

1-Up Retro Video Games…read more My girl and I randomly stumbled across this place while we were just walking around, and as soon as I saw the sign, I told myself, I have to go in here! I grew up playing video games, and I still play here and there, so I already knew this place was going to be pure nostalgia for me and it definitely was. I was a kid in a candy story and totally geeking out! Walking around the store brought back so many childhood memories. They had games I honestly haven't seen in over 30 years, along with all kinds of consoles and games from different generations. Some of these games I probably would never play again, but just seeing them on the shelves took me back. It was cool seeing the old-school Nintendo video game magazines. Some of those magazines have to be close to 30 years old! The entire store was basically one big nostalgia trip. I didn't end up buying anything, but I still enjoyed just walking around and checking everything out. If you grew up gaming or have played on different systems over the past 40 years, this is definitely a place worth checking out.
