I am so happy I found this Pilates studio through Groupon. This is one example of Groupon really working for people who are looking for a new spot to frequent. The classes are small, hands-on and a fantastic focused workout. I never thought I could break a sweat with small, specific movements. I feel like I already learned a lot about my body in a few weeks. As a beginner, I was a little overwhelmed in some of the full body classes (in that they whooped my butt). Then I took Julie's begginer class, which was stilll a butt-whooper, but was a bit slower with a lot of breakdown about the movement which I think is really necessary to getting comfortable with the reformer machine. Julie explained how each exercises work and came around to each student to make adjustments. I really appreciate this in any exercise class - that's the benefit of having an experienced teacher in the room with you! I believe classes are around $20 each. I'd love to continue, but that pricetag is steep for me. I am going to inquire about specials and hopefully I will be back for more! I can feel a difference in my body in just a few classes. As someone who has never really been in shape, I became a Pilates lover because of this studio. I started my weight loss journey about 2 1/2 years ago and without this studio it would not have been possible to lose and maintain a 25 pound weight loss (for reference I'm 5'2 beginning weight was 140 lbs). This is by far one of the best , if not the best, Pilates Studio in Los Angeles! I've tried several studios such as Wundabar, Pilates Plus and have even paid for personal Pilates instruction at equinox, and none of them were able to instill the dedication and mind body connection that this studio teaches. More importantly none or them gave me RESULTS like this studio has. I saw results within the first two weeks of going. The teachers really focus on making sure your form is correct and also help you to fully grasp and understand the different muscles in your body and how to focus on them. Other studios I've been to were either challenging with very little attention to form which would leave my back in pain for days, or not challenging enough which left me feeling like I hadn't even worked out. The instructors at this studio will give you results which will inspire you to stay focused on your weight loss goals. I normally go to Julie's classes because it works best with my schedule but I've taken classes with all the girls and they are truly ALL amazing! It's important to find out what works best for you because fitness is a commitment, but if I can save anyone time and money I feel I must do so. I'm truly so grateful for what this studio has helped me to achieve. In my 5 year struggle trying to be healthy, I've spent thousands on a few gym memberahips, personal training and excercise classes and I can truly say this has been the best value for the money I've spent on myself. read more

Wonderful studio with the best reformers out there. I love that the instructors bring their own style, energy and music to the mix. Lulu is the absolute best...she keeps you moving, pushes you to work hard but also suggests modifications so that every student can get just what they want and need to progress in their personal fitness goals. My wife and I have been following Julie Bond through three studios, and her newest one is far and away the nicest: light and airy, with brand new, well-functioning equipment. Julie has an exceptional understanding of how the body is put together, and uses that knowledge to provide us very specific workouts that address our individual issues. She has a remarkable ability to multitask, pushing my wife forward in fitness challenges while simultaneously assisting me with rehab following major foot reconstruction surgery. It's amazing to watch her tweak routines on the fly to fit our abilities on any particular visit to the studio, very much the way a fine jazz musician improvises on a head and changes. This goes way beyond a simple "boot-camp" workout. Julie has danced professionally in Broadway productions and on major tours, and draws on a wealth of knowledge gleaned from chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists and of course Pilates certification. I have never been to a pilates studio that offered a Full Body type workout. I dropped in last Sunday to try the class. Julie had my leg muscles trembling within the first 10 minutes of class! I usually workout on the reformer doing traditional Pilates. This was WAY different and I loved every minute of it! The studio is clean, plenty of parking and I loved the water machine! Julie and her team are seasoned trainers who know their stuff. I could barely get through my first classes, but after sticking with it, I have never felt so strong. All the instructors have extensive knowledge in movement, injury prevention and strength building. Classes provide challenging workouts with individual attention in a small class setting. They have helped me find neglected muscles that I forgot I had. Studio is clean with ample parking. I feel fortunate to have this high quality facility in our community. I purchased a groupon for 3 classes, and I'm very glad that I tried this place out. Classes tend to be small - there's no more than 10 people per class. This allows more individual instruction from the teacher, which is beneficial especially if you're new and want to get the form/technique right. I really liked my classes with Renee. She took the time to explain the equipment and even helped me to adjust the exercise to fit my petite frame. Overall, I got a great cardio/strength training workout and doing pilates on their equipment seems less daunting than doing it on a mat. Don't forget to bring non-slip socks or you can purchase them in the studio for $16. read more

I highly recommend this studio to anyone regardless of their ability level. The teachers are great and very knowledgeable, and they offer different levels of each exercise, so depending on your fitness level you can participate. It will get you into shape and help you find muscles you forgot you had! It's not a pilates studio in the traditional sense - it's more of a full body workout, but definitely focuses on the core, a tenant of the true Pilates method. The studio is always very clean and well taken care of, and the owner is a lovely woman who sometimes teaches as well. Please note that you need to bring toe socks or grippy socks to class - they won't let you work on the reformer in bare feet or regular socks. They also sell them there if you don't have a pair. read more

I've been taking the Full Body classes with Chrissa recently and it has been fantastic! She has such a great energy and excitement for Pilates. The work outs are always different so you never get bored, and you are always challenged. She also picks great music for the work outs which give everything a nice flow. It's about as much fun as you can have while still getting a killer workout in. I love it, and I always leave feeling stronger and more uplifted. Let me also mention they have the most amazing equipment here. Wow, this is like the Ferrari of Reformers. I would totally recommend signing up for some classes, I know they have good introductory packages for new clients on their website. read more

I signed up for several beginner classes and totally loved them. Julie was the best and most enthusiastic instructor ever. How she could make me laugh while at the same time causing me such "pain" is a good question. Of course, I am a little (ok a lot) out of shape, but anyway ... Loved the classes; loved the location; loved the music; loved the machines; loved it all. Great people ;-) and really no pain unless you push yourself too much, which won't happen under Julie's watchful eye. Frustrated.... don't purchase a Groupon for this studio. I purchased a Groupon from this studio and I have sent several emails about how to redeem it. I have only received one email back in which they claimed they didn't get my first email. Loved the studio and loved the classes, but I am frustrated because I can't seem to use my Groupon. The staff members didn't even know how to redeem them. Why offer something like this when you refuse to let people use these deals? I think I will just go to another studio and get my money back from Groupon! read more

This Pilates studio is clean, equipment is always in excellent working order, and they have many different instructors who have different styles of working out on and off the reformer. So there should be an instructor here for everyone. Did I mention how clean they keep it? Sign up is easily done on their website. I always do the group sessions. If you're new to Pilates they also offer a group technique session. They also run a promo where the first session is $15 - but don't quote me on that in case it changes. If you have a chance to work with Julie - she's the owner and is very passionate about what she does which makes the workout fun, efficient, and the time flies by when she's running the session. WOW! This place is amazing! I have been doing pilates for over 20 years. This studio, the instructors and the equipment are all the best I have ever experienced. The studio is clean and the gear is top of the line. The reformers are custom designed by Julie with Balanced Body. They have just the right amount of cushion and so many extras. If that wasn't enough, Julie also redesigned the handles of the ropes. She has thought of everything to bling out the equipment which makes the workout that much more succinct and targeted. I brought my 16 year old son to his first class and they couldn't have been more accommodating or solicitous. He loved it! Can't wait to go back for more. Bravo! read more

X-treme Pilates is a great studio to get yourself into shape! I was a little hesitant at first with the x-treme in the name, however, Julie and all of the staff here take very good care and caution to ensure that you have a safe and effective workout. I highly recommend starting with the Technique classes so you can hone your skills on the unique reformer machines. After going to these classses for the past two months, I am much more limber, stronger and overall feel much better about myself physically. In fact, as a person with a life long knee issue, I was able to ski recently with minimal soreness afterwards. This is a very overdue review of Xtreme Pilates. First, this is the ONLY method of working out that I have been able to stick with EVER ( and I'm 51) !!! I have been going to Xtreme Pilates for over 3 years now and I cannot say enough good things about Julie. I have been dealing with various injuries on and off as a result of a car accident and Julie is beyond helpful and attentive in helping me to adjust my positioning and/or providing options to a particular move. It is obvious that Julie loves what she does. I can honestly say that I have never had the same class twice and she is always introducing new moves during classes. As much as I would love to keep Julie's classes a secret, I wish her continued success in her business. She is amazing as a teacher and as a person! X-treme Pilates is great for a low-impact, consistent workout. I did it for three years, but just moved away and will definitely miss it! Each instructor has a different teaching style, but they were all great and professional. The only con is that the studio is so popular that the classes usually fill up right after the online registration opens each month--a spot or two usually opens up the day before a class, but no guarantees. read more

I have been going to Xtreme Pilates for over 6 years twice a week. I'm in my late 70's and thanks to the fantastic instructors, (love you Renee !) feel fit and healthy. All the instructors provide a fabulous workout. There is, however, a new girl in town- Chava. During my last class with her I mentioned that my left hip felt a bit sore...she had me do a move that took the soreness away. Next morning completely gone! Each instructor has a different vibe- Chava is very funny and very hands on. Her classes go by quickly, but the workout is solid. She recognizes body issues and knows how to make adjustments. It saddens me that have to give such a negative rating for this studio, because I really enjoyed my first class here. I had seen this studio open up a few months ago, and it was on my mind to try them out. Then when I saw they were offering a groupon, it was a perfect chance for me to see how this place was. The groupon terms said that you have to use the 5 classes within a 30-day time frame. OK no problem right... WRONG. Because this place sold way too may vouchers than they can handle, because their evening classes are all booked weeks in advance with the waiting lists already with 2-3 people in queue. I have signed up on the wait list too and never been eligible to take the class still. Therefore, it's impossible for me to use my Groupon within 30 days. I emailed them, in a very nice and polite manner, if they could extend my expiration date for 2 more weeks given that they can't accommodate with their current schedule. Instead of replying with "sure we understand" they tried to extort more $ from me. They said "if you buy a full month regular price pass, we will give you an extension" My reply was "but you are not even allowing me to use my groupon within the terms because of your full schedule, so why should I be forced to pay more $ to use my initially purchased deal???" Then the other owner Julie (they are husband and wife team I guess) replied to me with a very negative, long email saying how they are not responsible for the full schedule, and that groupon makes them sell high quantities at dirt cheap prices, ETC. The unfortunate part is that I am a local resident to this studio, and was actually looking for a pilates studio to sign up at. I am a loyal customer to places I visit, and I rarely buy groupons. I would have ABSOLUTELY continued here if they had not treated me this way, and had just offered Normal level of customer service. Definitely won't be recommending anyone here. Also the owner said they sold 420 groupons: Each groupon is good for 5 classes, and they expire 2 months from date they were sold. DO THE MATH: that's 2100 classes they have to service, potentially, in let's say 60 days to be conservative. That's at least 35 classes a day they have to offer: At most this place offers 8 classes a day. Even if they sold more of the vouchers for monthly unlimited passes, that makes the daily class requirement EVEN MORE! Hmmmmm... and I'm the one not understanding the situation??? read more

I started pilates for the first time here and found out I love pilates. Chava is chatty/conversational and makes the class fun. She works the whole body and I like the music too. She is so cheerful and always smiley which is encouraging but sometimes she is just making me laugh. I look forward to classes! read more

So I had my first class today. I was super nervous about it because I'm the least flexible person on the planet and let's be honest, I wasn't ready to die. But boy was I wrong. You know how there's a good type of pain? Like the type where you're laughing so hard that you're crying and you're doubled over because your stomach hurts? Yeah, that's how pilates feels. I felt like I worked out every single muscle in my body-some that I didn't even know I had. Jennifer was my instructor and as soon as I walked in and she said hi, I knew I liked her immediately. For starters we had the same name-obviously a green flag. Second, she was playing Disney music. Classic Disney music! She made me feel extremely comfortable and since I was the only newbie, she made sure I understood how to do all the moves and she kept checking back on me to make sure I wasn't dying. She's great, the place is great (had no trouble finding parking) and I am really excited for my next class! read more

She's a total pro at understanding bodies and coaching in a really clear and effective way to increase toning, strength and endurance. I have grown to love X-Treme Pilates. I'm in my 50's and as most women after 50 might share with you, it gets harder and harder to keep the core, the arms, and waist line in shape. As a physician, I noticed that many patients who were fit and tone did Pilates on a reformer. Wanting to get into better shape, I first visited the studio last fall. It was hard and I had mixed feelings. Then over Thanksgiving, I tried Wunda Barr, and it was easier, but I noticed that my legs were not as tone as when I was at X-treme. I returned to X-treme in February and decided that I should tough it out and "Just do it"(Thanks Nike). After a few months, I really feel the difference and have greater definition of my arms, abdomen, legs and have a smaller butt (thank God). I noticed that a fellow "La Canadan" complained about the price. I have the 16 classes per month for $219 and pay for my daughter's 8 classes for $139. Maybe going to medical school did not help me with calculations, but my estimate of the cost comes out to be way less than $30 per class. Being in the medical field, Pilates has been very helpful for many of my patients who need to strengthen their core and to maintain flexibility. I mainly did it to look better for vanity reasons. Guess what, it works! Now onto the instructors: I love Renee who offers various degrees of difficulty - great for beginners, intermediate as well as advance students. My flanks and abdominal muscles benefited greatly thanks to her. I also love Cassidy: She truly gives a total body workout on Thursdays and Sundays. I love the fact that she understands the "Super-Slow" weight-training concept and incorporates the slowing of muscle fibers to help build strength without building the bulk. I always leave the studio feeling that I got my money's worth. My upper body is more lean, and I have lost my "Bat Wings" thanks to Cassidy. Jennifer is a fairly new comer. Even though I have been coming for months, Jennifer challenges me. I sometimes struggle in her class but realize that her workout is great for my body. I ached for 2 days after my first classes with her- that is good. With Jennifer, you will get more cardio. I lover her sense of humor. Angie was great. It's too bad she went on maternity leave. I was just getting comfortable in her class. Her bungee cord workout for the buttocks really kicked my bu**. Everything else was great, but hard. I look forward to her return so that I could conquer her workout without hurting too much after. Really great instructor. Julie- the owner. Lovely woman. I only took two classes with her and she was great about correcting my form and boy I felt the difference. It is too bad she only teaches at night since this conflicts with my schedule. I love to go to the different instructors' classes to achieve different results from each. I have grown to love Pilates at X-treme. I know cost could be challenging, but I have found that many of the women at the studio feel that the benefits of the workout are worth budgeting for the classes. This place is amazing. I bought the Groupon for 10 classes over a month period. I have to admit, I was extremely frightened to attend the classes (anything with extreme in the name seems intimidating). However, while the classes are challenging, the instructors do a wonderful job of helping each individual student reach his or her limit. I've only been taking classes since September, but I can already see a huge difference in my body makeup and strength. What's more, I actually feel relaxed and energized after leaving these classes. I've had classes with most of the instructors, and each is wonderful. I'm now taking three classes a week. I look forward to each class. Each class is different, never repetitive. Julie has been amazing in terms of customer service. I purchased a few memberships at once and she called me to make sure I hadn't signed up or clicked twice in error. I cannot recommend X-treme Pilates highly enough. read more

I attended one class at this studio as a Groupon promotion. The class was not particularly well taught from my perspective. While the instructor was friendly and energetic, she was not attentive to individual adjustments which, imho, is what makes a great Pilates machine class. I would have tried other instructors but had bad experience when I contacted the owner via e-mail. My husband had also bought me a Groupon gift class but they wouldn't honor the code I sent them. The owner told me that I had to get my money back from Groupon and couldn't not take a second Groupon class. For a gift?! Personally, I believe customer service should prevail in these situations and when I communicated this to the owner his response was to call me, after a good deal of back and forth, "hard to please." Yeah, I wasn't going back. Very poor marks both for poor customer service and the class I took. I have taken many Pilates classes in the area and can recommend great ones if you inbox me. I believe these companies offer better instruction, better customer service and a friendlier compensation if you are dissatisfied. Sorry, due to CA law I can't publish other companies names in this review. I gave out one company's name in my first review and the owner had his lawyer send me a CA State Law compliance letter. Undeniably the best exercise classes I've ever taken (and I've taken mat Pilates, numerous types of barre classes, aerobics, and worked with a personal trainer after physical therapy). It's everything you would hope for in an exercise class. There is an abundance of individualized attention, guidance, support, and encouragement, in addition to a thorough workout. Each class is different which keeps things fresh-yet it's always challenging. At the end of each class, you feel as though you've worked every muscle (even ones you didn't know you had) but you feel surprisingly relaxed. I'd even say it's therapeutic. Julie Bond Rhyne, the studio's owner and master trainer is simply amazing. It's evident how highly she regards her business and her clients. She seemingly puts her heart and soul into each class. Julie's kindness, generosity in spirit, and willingness to accommodate each client's needs is what keeps me coming back. I strongly encourage anyone considering taking a class to give it a try. It may sound extreme (but then again, it's X-Treme Pilates) but it can be life-changing. read more

This studio is run by Julie and Chris- a husband and wife team. I started working with Julie about two years ago after I was diagnosed with a herniated disc in my back. I couldn't walk without the aid of a cane, and I thought I was going to have to undergo surgery to correct the pain. Having never done Pilates before, I was very nervous about the whole process- but I was immediately impressed with Julie's friendly, professional, and knowledgeable instruction. I take private lessons, and I'm now up to four days a week in the new studio. Not only does she work carefully on strengthening my lower back and core muscles- she teaches me how to walk, bend, and lift in my day to day activities to avoid further strain and injury. We do an overall workout, and the difference I can see in my upper body, arm, back, and leg strength is amazing. She teaches a system that makes you feel stronger and more flexible- but more importantly, you wind up looking better when your clothes are off, if you know what I mean. I've never taken a group class, but when I arrive for my private lesson the studio and the sidewalk outside are full of friendly people who hang out and chat with one another after their class ends. The studio has a very welcoming, relaxed, and professional vibe. The other instructors who work with Julie are really nice. I highly recommend this studio- my own experience has been one of not being able to walk without great pain, to one of being able to work, exercise, and play with my dog again. This is due to the expertise and careful instruction from Julie- I consider the very reasonable price I pay for her lessons to be worth the priceless results. You will have to go a very long way before you find someone as knowledgeable and patient as she is. It's a no-nonsense but friendly workout. read more

Ah, to be young and fit....that is the only way to get benefits from this studio, which I am not... I have taken 5 technique classes and realize I will never be able to take a full body class, the pace is rapid with little correction as all 8 of us are in great need of help and the instructor is not able to address us all as the poses are too fast,as she counts down 5,4 push from your hip not your foot,ohhh,2,1 move your yellow spring I am more frustrated than satisfied with any physical benefits I guess e-xtreme is the key word, unless you are familiar with the technique, be prepared to feel somewhat lost, read more

To start, I want to say that I was generally not the type of person who enjoyed working out.. mainly because it would remind me that I'm entirely out of shape. I'm a "petite" size and hated being seen as weak. My goal is to strengthen my muscles while shaping and toning my curves and X-Treme delivers. I can't say enough amazing things about Renee. She's definitely my personal favorite for a few reasons. 1. She spends more time on the lower body and I owe my bubble butt to her workouts. 2. She always gives you the option to make the workout easier or more challenging. She definitely has more of a yoga approach where she wants to make sure you're doing what feels right for your body. TIP: Always try the more challenging option. You don't realize how strong you are until you try. 3. Her positive energy and good vibes make me love every minute of the 50 minutes of class with her. She makes funny references during class and leaves us with a quote or thought that makes the rest of your day/night a little bit better. read more

Cheapest is the 5 classes for $109 a month but what's the point? I want results. Ridiculous. Tons of Pilate studios in town that are good and have reasonable prices.
