First time here, and I am definitely making more visits to come here! Came here to support my friend, Donny (and this is not a biased review, just because he is my friend) and let him do his magic to my hair. When I first walked in, my first impression of the salon was how clean it was and Donny's station was so organized and neat (an ocd dream!). Something I admired a lot. I really liked that he explained everything he was going to do to my hair in details, such as texture, cut, style, and what products/recommendations would make my hair look and feel good. He also took his time, didn't rush, was very patient, and did an awesome job to my hair! It feels so healthy and really wants to make sure not only you are happy as an overall client, but that the hairstyle you wanted is what he achieved for you. Which he of course did! I could not stop playing with my hair and the products he used made my hair super soft! I forgot the name of them, but if you don't mind splurging in hair products, do yourself a favor and buy it! I have never had a cut or color that I didn't love from Xander blue! If you're the kind of person who knows exactly what you want in a style, they can deliver. I am not that kind of person. I trust the hair experts to do what they will based on my hair type, skin tone, and face shape. I've had some stylists that have breached that trust. Not Allison. She knows what she's doing and is my #1 go to stylist. The salon itself is clean with a trendy vibe. All of the staff are friendly and down to earth. They'll serve you coffee, tea, or water while your color is setting. They also have a nail tech on the premises who can give you a mani or pedi before you leave. read more

Everything you've read about Donny is true ... He's awesome! This past Saturday, I was feeling down about my hair, did a little research on Yelp and came across Xander Blue. I called *hoping* Donny would be available, and as luck would have it, he was. An hour and a half later, I was in his salon chair talking about how I wish my hair looked. He was very patient and understanding, offering tons of ideas. He asked a lot of questions and showed me several color options. I felt like he really heard me and took the time to truly understand what I wanted. He explained everything was doing, which I really liked. Before he left me to process, he gave me a heads up how much time it would be (he goes a bit longer than the usual 25-30 minutes, he explained), which was nice. Always good to know what to expect. Makes the wait shorter, I think! I had my laptop with me and had the opportunity to get some work done, which was great. (PS: They have free WiFi, if you want to do the same.) I went in wanting a very simple all-over color in dark brown. Donny did an awesome job and it turned out exactly how I hoped it would. He also showed me a few photos from other clients and you can tell he is very, very talented when it comes to color. I wish I was more daring! Maybe one day. I've gotten my hair cut here several times, always with a different person. I've never been the kind of girl to just stick with one hair stylist, since I request appointments with whoever is available at the time. I like that I can ask for the same haircut (long and layered) and get a different interpretation each time! The great thing is, I've never had a bad haircut. This salon definitely has a trendy vibe to it. The staff is friendly, but with the right amount of snark. They use and sell a lot of products that I love so that is a major plus as well. Kizzy at Xander Blue was amazing. I needed to book fast because of a hair emergency and she got me right in for a color correction, cut, and style. A stylist at another salon butchered my hair and left me with fire red roots and a horrible color job. Kizzy saved my hair! I got my hair done a month ago and I got so many compliments since then and my best friend went to go get her hair done because of how awesome mine looked and hers looked amazing too. I got mine done by Niki so I can't speak for anyone else, but she listened completely to what I wanted. I was kind of nervous because I went to someone else one day and they did an awful job on the color and the cut. She fixed both things. I have never loved my hair so much and everyone says the same thing to me. I went to Donny at Xander Blue after reading the reviews online and I am so glad I did! Donny did an amazing job with my cut & color. He cut off over 10 inches and gave me an adorable shoulder length cut. The color he did was beyond gorgeous - icy blonde with absolutely NO brassy or gold color in it at all. He was also very sweet and easy to talk to. The salon has the BEST shampoo chairs that don't hurt your neck which is huge for me as I like to enjoy the shampoo but it is hard when other salon chairs are digging into your neck. I have already had a ton of compliments on my new hair. I will definitely be recommending Donny at Xander Blue to my friends and will be a return customer. read more

Yvonne Rosa gave me an awesome color, cut, and style!! She's been doing hair for 25 years and mentioned she goes for training regularly. She was very nice to me and really listened and asked questions throughout the consultation. We pulled out a color book and worked together to pick a color. She gave me a pretty custom formula. Always get bad service here. Got my haircut once and it was great. Three different occasions later I was turned away. Place is open until 5. It's 3:30. Two stylists there, and they don't see me cause they said they wanna get outta there. One stylist rudely turned me away. Not going to try there again, which stinks, because I got a great haircut there the one time I did make it in lol. read more

Haven't trust anyone to cut my hair for two years until I came to this Salon. We were able to work with the schedule since I came at the last minute (walk-in). The place was busy of creative people working their magic, they were all welcoming and attentive to everyone. Wow! I have never received such great service from a hair salon. I just had my first appointment with Jason on Friday 05/15/15. Before he started working on my hair we discussed, at length, what I was looking for and his suggestions on what would work best for my curly, thick hair. He is very precise and incredibly knowledgeable - it's obvious that this is not only his career but his passion. One thing that stood out is that he doesn't try to up-sell you on services you don't need or that would be unhealthy for your hair. My husband, myself and my 2 yr old daughter have been coming to Zander Blue to see Niki...for about 2 yrs now, and we love her. My husbands hair is difficult to cut, he has the best hair but it is thick and curly, and we have tried so many different places and people to get him a great hair cut. This has been our go to place, and we love Niki, and we would recommend her to anyone that is wanting a great hair cut and a wonderful person to talk with during the process. She also has cut and colored my hair, and has always done such a wonderful job. The place can be crowded and loud on the weekends, and if you are into a trendy, bumping music kind of place, then definitely go there then, but if you are like me and want a good hair cut, and some zen peace in the process, go during the week. read more

I Was hesitant to write the review but I just want you guys to make note of this. Two weeks ago I went to this salon to get my very long hair chopped off. Won't be mentioning names since the stylist will know who she is. I am a student and I just moved to Orlando, this is my first experience at an orlando hair salon. I went in with very long hair and asked if I could have it cut to my shoulders... the stylist continued to mention how "collar bone" length hair was in style but I said that would be too much of a shock for me.. we decided on shoulder length with long layers. Fast forward.. I left with COLLAR BONE length hair and short layers that make me look like a 90 year old woman. She also thinned my hair with that special scissor which I Would have NEVER let her do had I noticed before she began... those scissors on my hair just did the opposite of what I wanted which was more depth. Honestly in my 25 year old life this is probably the worst hair cut I've ever gotten and I'm not even picky since I'm used to growing my hair long and then cutting it and donating it to locks of Love but seriously I look awful.. I've thought about shaving my head because it's so bad. I wouldn't have even paid but the stylist was nice and I felt bad but seriously guys I this isn't 2001 anymore no one gives a 25 year old the "can I talk to the manager" hair cut anymore.......if the owner would like to contact me I'd be happy to provide my info so you know the claim is legitimate.. In the 8 months that I have been going to Angie at Xander Blue, my hair has been transformed. Angie is excellent at highlights and lowlights!!! This salon is amazing with Olaplex treatments and steamers that have improved my overall hair condition. I finally am able to grow my hair long because it is now in SUCH GREAT CONDITION. Best of all they do not push unnecessary treatments on you just to run up the bill. I now pay less on my hair appointments then I did at the Haircuttery!! I had Steve Ray, he was wonderful and he did an amazing job, not just with the cut but explaining how he was going to fix it. I totally recommend this place and will definitely be coming back. If you're over pricy, pretentious salons with mediocre stylists, maybe you should consider giving this place a chance. I've been to see Jason at Xander Blue a few times and I highly recommend him for both cuts and color. He listens to what you want, gives his input and discusses all ideas thoroughly before proceeding. He puts a lot of time into his appointments and his prices are very fair for the quality of his work. He is very knowledgable and has a good eye for detail. It's rare to find a stylist who truly cares about clients' satisfaction but he does. I've recently moved out of state but will continue to see Jason for any and all hair appointments, because he's worth it. And an added bonus: the washing station has really comfortable chairs so your neck doesn't feel broken when you get up. read more

Thanks to Phylissann (and to Dan for the additional guidance) for giving me my blonde back! After someone at my former salon changed my honey blonde to dark brown when I went in for a root touchup (talk about a bad hair day!!), she had her work cut out for her! She spent quite a lot of time with me first discussing options and ended up doing a complete foil highlight so that my lighter roots will look more natural growing back in. She uses the Framisi color line which is new to me but I'm very happy with it. I've been a fan of Wella (which I was told most of the other operators here use so you know they speak "blonde" at this salon), but Framisi is even gentler on your hair and after 3 color processes in 3 weeks, that's just what my hair needed. Wow, a stylist who actually listens and not only does what you ask, but does a great job, too. Like my husband said, "Now that's more like it!" So if you need to get your inner blonde back, this is the place! :) read more
