I went in for a consult and then a blonde balayage with an undercut. Rachel was my stylist/angel. I had long dirty blonde virgin hair and was very nervous but ready to get it back lighter to where it was naturally and get some hair off my head. To say she did a great job was an understatement. I cried because I loved it so much. I don't think pictures do it justice. It's exactly what I wanted and looks so natural. In my first visit to this salon I had asked for a blonde balayage. Although this was something I thought was simple for a stylist to accomplish, my technician Rachel completely turned my hair from brown to ...black and gray. When I called back the next day I heard the receptionist over the phone laughing with Rachel in the background saying "I knew she would hate it". The next day the Salon owner Mitch used a treatment that was supposed to remove the color. It did in fact remove the color, along with it half of the hair on my head. Now, with thinned out, bald spotted hair, I asked them to refund the tip I had left Rachel. Not only did they say this was something they couldn't do, they did not apologize for the lack of service provided. If you enjoy having hair on your head, save yourself and DO NOT step foot in this salon. read more

This salon SAVED me. My hair had gotten so severely matted from wearing a tight wig cap for an event I was working, and I had spent 3 days trying to untangle it but it kept getting bigger and bigger and became the size of a squirrel (seriously). I was so stressed and distraught and didn't know who to go to or what to do, but I decided to come here, and Rachael and Tony saved my hair!! It was a bit of a team effort, but Rachael definitely did the hard untangling. FOR 6 HOURS! I felt so bad for her arms as she was so determined and using a lot of strength to untangle the squirrel. Tony had to cut some of my hair but did it so thoughtfully and in a way that cannot be noticed at all! I'm forever grateful to her and to Tony, since I truly thought I'd have to chop it all off. If you ever have a situation with matted hair, no matter how bad it is (because mine was BAD) just go to this salon and ask for Rachael and she'll get the WD40 out (the magic stuff). I'm the first to review the Mitchell Wade Salon and I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it. I have been going to this salon for over 5 years now and I wouldn't go anywhere else. My hair dresser, Delores, is absolutely amazing - I love her! She is great at giving advice on what may or may not look good (if you're looking for that), she is super friendly, funny, and she might even sing for you if you're nice to her :) She always does a great job on my hair - I always get compliments on the cut and color. Delores is not the only friendly one, but the ENTIRE staff is friendly. They all know you by name (enter Cheers theme song), are attentive to your needs (always bringing water, coffee, cookies, soda - whatever you need), and is overall plain ol' awesome. I love this place, and if you're looking for a new salon (hair, nails, whatever you want) or even just to switch it up, definitely give them a shot. read more

Although everyone was very friendly, i'm not a very fond of the service I received. I'm not going to name names because I don't think it's necessary. My point is do not go here for a perm. I went here twice, the first time I got a perm, it came out so so with only tiny curls on the end. I gave this person the benefit of the doubt and thought I could talk to them about maybe creating tighter curls next time . When I came back, I explained to her that I was looking for a tighter curl. She repeated the same steps again that she did last time and gave me the same exact perm that was given last . I was told during this visit that I can come in whenever I want to get it Re-tightened . At this time hurricane Ian was happening, so I wasn't able to get back to the salon for about two weeks . When I got back to the salon and showed her pal what was going on, the stylist and her friend thought it would be a great idea to try and perm only a part of my head, instead of redoing the entire perm. I've never walked out of a place looking so crazy with half my hair straight and the other half curly. I dashed out over $130 for this experience and I guess I've learned my lesson now on not to come back. Perms have been around for years. Try and find someone with 20+ years of experience. I found another woman in the Baldwin park area that was able to fix it within an hour without any issues. read more

I've been going to the Mitchell Wade Salon for about 8 years now, and it has been awesome! My stylist, Delores, is sweet as can be and she is someone that's willing to go with my crazy ideas (from a mohawk to going from brunette to blonde) and she's also willing to put in her 2 cents when she doesn't think something is going to look good. I love that I have someone who gives me a great opinion that I can trust. Though the prices are a little high, a lot of salons can be if you want quality. I dyed my hair out of a box for so long that it was falling out like crazy, and now I never have that issue after I do a drastic change. If you're looking for a high quality salon and don't mind shelling out some extra cash, I'd check this place out. There are a number of different stylists who can fit different personalities, I think that may be what some of the other reviewers have had issues with, but once you find a good one it's unlikely you'll want to let them go! If you're looking for a good eyebrow waxer, Rikki is awesome and has been doing mine for about a year. She always listens and isn't afraid to do a touch up if you're unhappy with how they look, something I've always worried about with previous waxers. Let me start by everyone in this salon is super duper friendly! Atmosphere is great! Though, I do feel as though I got overcharged for the service I received. I ended up paying $320 to get my roots darkened. Ultimately my hair looks almost identical to when I walked in. I didn't want to embarrass myself or the cashier by arguing with the price, as it's a losing battle. But unfortunately I won't be going here again. I really love the salon and the service. i get my facial by Lorrie who is amazing. she takes her time and explains every procedure. i came in to get my facial in June and as I mentioned earlier I loved the way the customer was taken care of. At that time I was told if I get a package it includes 6 facials and dermabrasion and it will cost a $100 less versus if you pay for individual session. so I paid $625 for 6 sessions and a tip of $125. Which in total I paid $750. Every month I was getting my facial. unfortunately I had an issue with my car while coming for the facial and I called the salon and informed about my situation and rescheduled it. After my 5th facial I was told that unfortunately the day when I did not come is also counted. I'm really disappointed. I got the package as it was saving money but....... I don't have to say much. I did not say anything at that time because I was shocked. I should not have gotten the package. JUST FOR NEW PEOPLE DONT GET THE PACKAGE. That's why 3 stars. Everyone works hard to get the money. I think you need to understand the personal situation sometimes. Everything is not about the policies. THATS WHY 3 stars. I do have another appointment in December with Lorrie. I just left The Mitchell Wade Salon after having a color correction done by Camille. I cannot begin to tell you how amazing she is. She is a true miracle worker!! I went in with very blonde highlighted hair that did not flatter my complexion and had no dimension. Camille was able to give me EXACTLY what I wanted in less than 3 hours, which is incredible. I'm so glad I took the chance after reading several other reviews about her on many different social media sites. A little more expensive than normal & totally worth it! Brooke did my hair back in November and she got it way more blonde than we thought possible! I had gone to a different salon and had my hair done 3 times - I was a dark brown at first. After I had finished my 3rd appointment, my lady had taken my hair back darker (it was more yellow/blonde after the second appointment and then it ended up being a light brown). So Brooke was my 4th appointment... I showed her all the pictures and told her about how my other stylist said that was as light as she could possibly take me... I was in need for a haircut and notice this salon right down the street from me. They were pretty accommodating on same day appointments. The entrance is the salon is a bit weird as it's in the back and not the store front you see as you drive in. I had Claudia as my stylist and she was super sweet and listened to what I wanted. She offered great tips of upkeep and how to easily maintain since I pretty much do nothing for my hair. In the end my haircut looked hair and looked healthy and silky. For shampoo, cut and blow dry, I paid $50. Which is a little on the high side for me but will probably come back for convenience. Don't forget to check in for $5 off! read more

I am so disappointed with this place, but it is my fault for not having the patience to wait for my hair salon. My hair has been untouched for my entire life and decided to start covering my few white hairs in my 40s. I wanted to keep my hair as close as my natural color as possible because i do not want to look different. MY salon respected that and just covered my roots with my natural color and then put an almost translucent gloss on the rest to maintain my natural highlights from going to the beach and aging. I came to this place because my salon was booked and I needed my hair done sooner for a trip. My big mistake. My hair now is dark brown from roots to tips. My 12 years old daughter told me it looked like a wig when I got home. It looks exactly just like if I did it myself at home with a supermarket dye (see picture below, left is my naturally maintained hair by my regular salon, right is what they did at this place). My problem with this place is that they do not listen to what the customer wants. I kept telling the person that I wanted to look the same, maintain my natural highlights, and she just kept pointing at my hair as if it was unhealthy and damaged. It is obvious that she is used to dying people's hairs with a homogeneous color, and that it is very hard for her to accept what their customers really want. When I told her that my hair is now too dark, she kept telling me that I was making her feel bad. I was feeling uncomfortable telling her my thoughts about the end result.​ read more

The only salon I will ever let touch my hair as long as I live in Orlando. I've been going to Mitchell Wade since the beginning. Karen has been my stylist as long as I've been going to a salon. She gave me my first real hair cut (prior to that it was just trims from my mother). Actually, she has been the stylist for my mother and I since before Mitchell Wade even existed. Probably 12 years for me at this point. Even when I was away at college, I always scheduled my hair appointments around when I was going to be home so I could avoid getting a haircut anywhere but MW. Reasons I love this place: 1. Karen is an amazing stylist. And not only that, she's just an all-around awesome person. She really makes it an awesome and pleasant experience. She remembers her clients and is always up for catching up over a haircut. It's like having a girlfriend as a stylist. 2. The rest of the MW family is awesome as well! I've occasionally had others style my hair for special occasions like prom and such. And they're also friendly and fantastic at what they do. 3. You can tell Mitch really loves what he does and values his staff and his customers. This place feels like family. MW is a little pricey when compared to other salons but it is well worth it in my opinion. Until the time comes that I move away, I will never go anywhere else. read more

While there is a great stylist named Nikki, and the salon is beautiful, I definitely would never recommend this salon. They are unprofessional and unethical. I paid a LOT of money to have my hair highlighted here. I'm actually OK with that. My hair is extremely long and I like it very blonde. So it costs money for a good stylist to get it right. But would you believe that about an hour after I left, they called me stating they decided I should pay more. They asked for my credit card number over the phone and charged me a LOT more! Yet I decided to go back and scheduled another appointment. Because I did like Nikki. So when that appointment time came around I had to call and cancel. I have a 6 year old, a 3 year old, and am a full time critical care RN. My schedule is crazy, I simply couldn't make the appointment, so I called ahead to cancel. When I called back several days later to reschedule, they were extremely rude. They said if I want an appointment I need to give them my credit card number now to prepay since I've had "several no shows." I'm shocked. Never would I no show. Needless to say, I'm now searching for a new stylist and will be letting the entire Orlando area nursing community (big spenders on hair) about this. read more

First off let me say my experience here was so bad that here I am over a year later still upset enough to write about it. I went in to get a big deal makeover, I had been in and out of the hospital for months and wanted to look as great as I felt on the inside. I was excited because we had just moved to FL and having no idea about local salons I heard a neighbor talking about her stylist. When I made my appointment the next week I was informed ( by an incredibly rude British accented receptionist) that that she no longer worked there. No big deal right? I'm new here let's be crazy and give it a whirl, I deserved some pamper time after all I was recovering from! So I went in, immediately the attitude off the receptionist was so intense you could feel her eyes burning through your soul, judgment passed and all. I sat down after being made to feel ashamed just for having the nerve to walk in ( I am not even kidding, I hope she was just having a super bad day ). Maybe I did look horrible or something, however in my defense I had been in the hospital for weeks and not been able to sit through any salon work in months before that. Either way she felt compelled to humiliate me by making sure I knew that the cost of even just a hair cut before she bothered letting my stylist know I was there in front of the other women sitting waiting their turn as well. A this point I was questioning if I would be allowed back without a credit card deposit or something, maybe my first born child's soul for the privilege of being allowed past the desk? You would expect an insanely amazing caliber of stylist to be on the other end of this by now, well at least I expected someone who could cut and color basic everyday requests at the very least...nope. Not this trip. My stylist was a very kind man. He assured me no problems with my request, this is what I did, hold onto your hats because it's CRAZY. I died my hair......brown. That's right, brown. Only my hair wasn't brown when I left. It was very ...off brown..mud if you will. I was assured it would be 100% after another wash in the morning. So I stayed calm because I expected the best when I was paying so much. That did not happen, my hair was not only muddy orange on top after the wash the next morning but it was a totally different shade for the bottom half of my hair! I went in with light brown hair and some gray strands at 2" of roots. Nothing crazy, not a color change really just wanted to cover the gray strands and make it look Heath and shiny. Instead I got a multi colored mess. Then when I called in and was not even a little bit rude ( what good would that do, I just wanted it fixed) the lovely accent informed me they were full and to come the day after. Last I checked customer service is still important to other salons, not like I asked for instant fix, just at some point that day so I didn't look like I dipped my hair in something. Nope. I went a few days after and the guy was not happy, surprise, surprise to see me again. I promise you I was nothing but smiles and apologies because I just wanted my hair fixed. He very quickly slapped a much darker color onto my head without caution and while my hair was now all one color it was MUCH darker then I wanted. Dark brown that looked red in the light. I was not nearly happy but still not rude even once, despite the fact I now also have hair dye stains all over my forehead,neck and ears. Not the usual bits but large stains ( will upload photos when I get home tomorrow) all over my cheeks, and everything. The kicker for me was when I was getting my hair rinsed and heard him say to another stylist that he was sure he wouldn't even be getting a tip this time. I tipped him more than I should have the first day because as we all know there can be no better thing on any occasions than a stylist that loves their client, of course I wanted to have a positive start and let it be known I appreciate the work. This was such a negative experience and yet I gave it more tries! I didn't call it quits despite the overpricing and rude stylists, we all know one bad experience can be random so I hoped it was. I took my teenage daughter in and her stylist was wonderful, she did a great job on her hair, I was happy but then the bill came and it was not remotely what we were quoted. I had also opted to give it another chance and my hair was cut into choppy, really awful layers put in when I was very clear I wanted the layers to be very long and to not cut any of it shorter than chin length. My hair was cut so short on top I looked like I was aiming for a Billy Ray Cyrus look. I gave up on this place after that. The pricing should reflect a professional and trained staff and when I was there it did not. My daughters cheer team had a basket raffle and I won a basket. When I opened it and saw a 30 dollar gift card inside for this place I knew it would never be used. Its sitting in a drawer gathering dust. read more

My wife and I had been using quick cuts places for hair cuts for a while. No complains with those, but she decided to look for a salon and landed on Michell Wade Salon via the web. It proved to be a great choice. They offered Saturday appointments, which was convenient. Colin gave us both great hair cuts, and the entire setting was great.
