Jury is still out. I purchased a groupon for laser hair removal. For some weird reason the address on the groupon was different than the address on their website. Booking was weird because the instructions stated text for an appointment. I texted and then they told me to book via their website. Huh?! Okay, booked online. Can't say enough good things about Xen. I was originally very nervous about laser hair removal but a friend recommended Xen laser, so I decided to go for it. I only wish I had done this sooner!! The service is amazing and my results are amazing. I originally opted for underarms to start and see how it went and now I am doing practically whole body. I went from having very coarse hair and needing to shave daily to basically almost hairless. I do not shave anymore, only before my appointment because you have to for the laser machine to catch any stragglers but otherwise not needed. To this day, I just cannot get over the results. I mean... just amazing. You can tell Xen is very dedicated and knowledgeable in her field and she does not promise what she cannot deliver so you can rest assured she will give you realistic expectations based on her experience at the start of the process. She is also so lovely to chat with as you get your treatments and often offers other beauty advice. Wow, I'M SHOOK. Xenal is AMAZING. I went to Step Up Skin Laser to get my first 6 sessions done, and they used a diode laser vs this candela laser. I got my brazilian area done, and after my 6th session, I noticed that hair would begin growing back. In between late August and late November, I had to shave twice. Yes, that sounds like I'm being bratty and am expecting miracles to happen, but I have very thin, fine hair, and even way before all of this, I would only have had to shave twice in 2 months. After 1 session here (which is my 7th overall session), I see IMMEDIATE results. No joke, it's been over 5 weeks, and I have to go in next week, and I HARDLY see any growth. I will admit that this is more painful than my sessions at Step Up, but I'm willing to deal with less than 5 mins of pain for little to no hair growth. It's not necessarily unbearable, but I did have to take a couple of breaks. Love this and highly recommend! This place is really made by the service and courtesy of being transparent. When I first booked I was told that my skin and hair type may not be suitable. My money could've been gladly taken, but there was total transparency as well as allowing me to essentially customize the area I needed to treat. We discussed and I did end up using Xen Laser. I've been hesitant on getting laser hair removal because I wasn't sure of how the process worked and of the pain it may cause. However my co-worker went here from a Groupon deal to get rid of her chin hair and she told me great reviews about her. Soooo happy I found Xen, she is a skin god! I have barely any hair and no longer feel a need to shave - and I'm only 4/6 laser sessions in. I'd been tossing the idea of laser hair removal around for years but never could commit due to the mixed reviews I'd hear about it. I heard/read nothing but great things about Xen Laser Aesthetics, so i texted and was set up for a phone consultation at a time convenient for me. I was immediately put at ease by how knowledgeable and transparent Xen was about the entire procedure, from what to expect, what kind of results I would be looking at, possible side effects, etc. Before my first appointment, she took time in person to answer all questions that I had and did not make me feel rushed at all. Pain-wise: it was absolutely doable. I have been waxing for the last ~9 years and the discomfort from the laser hair treatment is minimal compared to waxing.. and also disappears a few seconds/ minutes after, versus waxing (which made me feel sore for hours, bruising, etc). Her machine and technique are awesome. Result-wise: dangggg. I'm not trying to tell everyone on yelp details about my body hair, but I'm not going to exaggerate - this was truly amazing. Waxing - you're hairless for 7-10 days, then the waiting game begins for your hair to get long enough to wax again. After my first session - I did not shave my body EVEN ONE TIME in 6 weeks. Facial hair is more stubborn so I did that a bit, which is expected. Only shaving was in preparation for my next session. MAJOR game - changer. Overall - my experience so far has been flawless. Let me tell you how good Xen is I fly to New York from Chicago every 8-12 weeks or so for my appointment. I have tan indian skin and with black coarse indian hair. I'm naturally hairy thanks to my dad. Growing up I have learned and tried everything - shaving, waxing, bleaching, threading, epilating, electrolysis. It was hard growing up hair! My sister started doing laser with a technician in RI, I went with her once it was super painful and she would have massive burn marks. I have always heard that laser works best on ppl with light skin dark hair. I was super fed the constant waxing and shaving though I searched google for diff laser machines and learned about the Candela laser. I was so amazed to learn there is a laser out there for us darker girls! Then I went on hunt for a GOOD HONEST laser technician. I found Xenal. Of course I will still scared and a little skeptical, I took my sister to the free consultation. We spent about 30 min asking questions discussing my issues the laser etc. I decided to get my whole body done - legs, arms, underarms, Brazilian, stomach, back, everything. After the consultation I felt more at ease. Xenal was extremely honest. She told me where the laser would work best, what areas would need more than 6 treatments, how it is not 100% permanent.
