I would give comcast 0 stars for customer service; Yelp needs to add that option. I spend more time online with their help desk helping them understand the basics on how the Internet works rather fixing my issues. The tier one help desk really needs to take a basic networking class to understand some of the nonsense that is coming out of their mouths. If you have noise on the line and the latency is high my wireless router is not the problem. I have 3 channels that have 119mbs connection to my router, my laptop is using 802.11n and mathematically capable of 49mbs with its memory, cpu and cache. So when I am getting less than 1mbs and I am telling you it is on the wire it is not a wireless setting that by the way has been working fine for almost a year. So I will, power down and restart follow the tier one checklist but when that doesn't fix the problem the correct response should be, "Let me schedule a technician to come onsite and take a look." Not, "Oh you own the router it must be your wireless settings." I have over a years' worth of data showing QOS or lack of QOS and showing that somewhere up the channel that there are problems occurring. My house internet is only the symptom of the true root problem. I rather you tell me it's a problem, you can't find the cause but you are working on it instead of keeping on the phone not listening, and not making the correct entries into your CRM or whatever trouble ticketing system you are using. YOU CANNOT FIX WHAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. I will say thank you to the wireless engineer who did recognize that this was not a wireless setting that came on magically and sent a technician out. Who by the way found noise and interference downline; outside of my environment. If there was another provider I would choose them just to get away from a lack of customer service and pure stupidity. Comcast you will not always have the monopoly you better find a way to treat you customer base better or at least hire people that understand what tcp/ip is not tell me, "We don't support that we only support Windows and MAC". Wow so i am so happy right now that i am not the only one in philly having a problem with "Comcast"! So one day my girlfriend and I are watching the tv at her appartment, everything was great. The next thing you know the cabel box went out so we called comcast right away, in hopes to finish our show. So the comcast guy walked us through the process of fixing our box, just to find out that it was broke and we needed a new one. He told me to go the the nearest comcast place and exchange the broken one for a fixed one. That took me about a month to get accomplished, since i am a busy guy. So last week I hooked up the "New" box, this wasn't my first time hooking up a cable wire to a cable jack. Easy stuff normally right. So i turned it on nothing happend! At this point i'm a bit irratated. I called the comcast service center, they said they needed to reboot the box. This process is suposed to be 45mins with out having on the tv. No big deal i can handle that. One hour goes by they called back to see if it was working, no luck the box didn't connect with them. They said ok, we need to do the 45 min test again. They will call me back in an hour to see if it works. No luck didn't work again!!!!!! I'm pissed, this isn't my fault your box broke! Comcast is inefficient and incompetent. I tried to cancel HBO 4 times, each timeI was told that it had been canceled, but we kept getting billed for HBO. We resorted to not paying our bill and when they called us twice we explained the situation and they said that they resolved it. When they referred us to a collection agency I went to the better business bureau and complained. I was called the next day and received prompt service that finally removed the charges for HBO from all of the bills up to that point. Comcast is the single most loathed company anyone has ever dealt with in these United States. In 2014, they deservingly received the annual "golden poo" award from consumer advocates, giving them the distinction that no other company can take away from them. In commercials, Comcast makes no bones about the fact that people need their "xfinity" services at whatever the cost, or else you can go with a competitor's service and lose access to local sports, a practice which is still illegal in some states where Comcast hasn't stamped out all competition yet. But Comcast hasn't gotten rid of competition by being the single best cable service provider, but rather the most barely sufficient. Their customer service is greatly lacking, as evidenced by anyone who has ever called upon them to make a service change. They usually do the exact opposite of what I ask them to do, and have the nerve to charge a $1.99 fee for every change made, and a $10 "late fee" is assessed when a bill goes unpaid (twice as high as most other companies' surcharges), and they continue to advertise the best introductory prices, yet they are allowed to increase your "promotional" rate at any time, once you're all hooked up to their tubes. Comcast has devised profit schemes that take advantage of customers' sensibilities. One of these schemes is to offer new boxes and upgraded digital content for "Free" and then make it punitive to cancel and impossible to downgrade. (This is how they rolled out digital cable to the masses and now force everyone to pay $120 a year PER BOX to pay for that upgrade, which is no longer optional.) If you have two TV's in your home, the ability to split the signal was once possible using your own equipment, but now costs another $144/year in equipment leases and fees. Another method of profiting is cable boxes and connections only able to be rented. You can't own your own equipment anymore, save for one compatible router made by motorola, and all the equipment you must lease from them at a huge mark-up (and shipping, even, too!). If you call to get a special promo plan now, they can only offer you "bundling" of services you don't need, and promos only last for about 6 months most of the time, and then they are increased without proper notice or authorization. It is extremely difficult to get prepaid services refunded, even if you try to cancel them. Therefore, it is wise never to enroll in the auto-pay feature. Two stars, why? Because they have maintained a system that is mostly reliable, with very few outages in my area. Long story short, they disconnected our phone number when we changed our television programming (really?!) and won't give us back our telephone number that we had for over 25 years. Their television service is still in the dark ages, the internet isn't anything to write home about and the customer service - the one thing that makes or breaks a company - is TERRIBLE. You get disconnected, call back, get a different rep, get told a different story, etc. You never get the same story twice. There seems to be an inability to solve a problem and if they do solve a problem, it takes over an hour and possibly calling in more than once to solve it. AT&T may be just as high priced as Comcast but the customer service is 100 times better and the television is amazing. Apps, and ability to go online to get into your DVR or watch shows on devices is great! Billing is much more straight forward and you get much better phone, internet and television for the price. Do the research before agreeing to Comcast's two year contracts. There are many little things they don't reveal until you've signed up and you could quite possibly (if you still have a home phone like us), lose your phone number of over 25+ years. Can I give them a negative 1 star? Okay, so I was spoiled by year of FIOS, but once you know a good thing, you expect the same from a major competitor. I don't think Yelp will allow me to type all of the issues I've had with Comcast, but let's at least summarize: 1. I pay more a month for less channels on TV and no Home DVR than FIOS 2. I pay more a month for a CONSIDERABLY slower internet connection than FIOS 3. It took 5 appointments to install Comcast services and then fixed the issues the installation caused 4. They regularly miss appointment time frame ($20 credit is really, really nice, but not when I have to take time off for no reason) 5. My HD cable box had to be replaced 3 times in less then 2 years 6. Last issue we have took 5 (!!!) calls and 4 people to explain what it was before they actually sent someone over and one of those people promised to call back within 45 minutes, forcing us to cancel our plans and stay home and yes, you guessed it, without a call back... I can certainly keep going... but why? All in all in 18 months of service, I had to have 18 appointments for someone to come in, had to go twice myself to replace busted cable box and spent (conservatively) 72 hours on the phone in order to get an inferior service at a premium price... Nice going Comcast.. watch me switch to FIOS the second I can get their service... read more

I had a terrible previous experience with them and cancelled service but I am hand cuffed now to use them. The experience is exactly what I anticipated. The worst! They deserve ZERO stars. This is one of the WORST companies imaginable. I have had many struggles with "customer service" over the years. At one point some idiot told me over the phone that my Comcast email address that I owned for almost a decade was not mine. He was even obnoxious about it and taunted me on the phone. Finally, I helped the mentally handicapped jackass understand the situation. Let's get to the present fiasco. Had an appointment Sunday 5-7pm for a phone line installation.......for a phone I don't want but have to have to get the lowest price in conjunction with the "Triple Play". I called "customer service" at 7pm. to find out the TRAGIC reality that I could ONLY speak with the Philippines. You can imagine how excited I was to hear this as I was on the phone no less than 4 hours with Kmart Online in the Philippines the other day and in the end they couldn't ship a friggin' package to an address that they had confirmed correctly on the receipt they emailed me. Even worse, after talking to no less than 8 or 9 supervisors, the last one REFUSED to even cancel the order even after I tried to explain HER job to her and the FACT that previous supervisors had already offered to cancel the order. In the end, A LOCAL Kmart store cancelled the order because the Philippines was too incompetent to do ANYTHING in 4 hours on the phone. So, being back on the Philippine Islands, NOTHING was accomplished at Comcast either. At 7pm. the lady LIED to me and told me they would be at my house within 30 minutes. When I called back after 45 minutes I was lied to again and told they would show up in 10-20 minutes. I was later told that they have no way of calling "Dispatch" and getting these time estimations. UNBELIEVABLE. The third person I spoke with told me she would email dispatch and have them call me. I waited until 10pm. to leave my house and get some dinner, an EXTRA 3 hours and still NO CALL, NO SHOW. So at that point I waived the white flag and the agent set me up with an appointment for 8-12am. the next morning, 12/08/14 under the confirmation number 026249330. This was an APPOINTMENT, just like the first alleged appointment. I call up to confirm in the morning and notice that the automated voice DIDN"T tell me that I had an appointment in the morning. After another TWENTY MINUTE phone call he finally found the "appointment". I called back 20 minutes later because the idiot I spoke with seemed completely INCOMPETENT, and much to my surprise, it turns out I was 100% CORRECT. The next agent then tells me that I DID NOT HAVE an appointment but merely a meek "REQUEST FOR A TECHNICIAN AND THAT I DON'T HAVE A TECHNICIAN ASSIGNED OR AN APPOINTMENT". So, if I didn't already know how screwed up and incompetent Comcast is as a failing company, I would have sat around an additional FOUR hours, bringing the total to 9 wasted hours of sitting around waiting for a technician who was NEVER EVER ASSIGNED or COMING. I can't wait until this miserable excuse for a company goes out of business. The only reason they have any customers is that people have few choices. I have had a bad experience about their service. the salesman kept calling me about their "wonderful TV cable", and told me a 3 days free trial , and if I don't like it, their guy will come by and take the TV cable back, nothing will change. OK, I thought I might just give a try because this salesman sounds sincere. AND I WAS TRICKED! On the second day when I called to cancel the free trial, the representative said since I have signed up for the TV service, I am no longer the new client, and all my previous promotions are gone. The only way to save money is to keep that TV cable. I have been calling 2 months about that issue, nothing happens, and they all said the same thing. Until one day when I called again, this guy picked up and apologized for the misunderstanding, and said he will reset everything and my internet rate goes back to original. I thought I finally have this issue solved, but it turned out after the phone call, there is no move on my account, and they literately did nothing after the call. Additional Complaint : I scheduled another appointment for Comcast to repair home security smoke detectors on Tuesday 10/28 between 9-11. The technician called me 5 after 11 to inform met that Comcast just told him that he had my appointment scheduled and that he would be at my home by 1pm. I called Comcast to complain since I have a confirmation email stating my appointment time of 9-11am was not met and according to their policy I am to get a $25 credit on my account. The customer rep wasted 15 minutes of my time stating the window was 9-1pm while refusing to give me credit. I have email proof of my appointment time. They gave me a ticket number of 025519534 and said the credit would be applied but they don't know when. I once again took time off from work due to their faulty products, and none of my own. I am outraged that a company can do business this way. I again wanted an integrated system that works. I want the money back that I have paid for faulty units and want out of the home security contract without penalty. Comcast is terrible. I've had several run-ins with their broken business processes, and this past encounter got me to the point where I have to express my frustration on social media. I just moved to a new place this past weekend, and I called up when I had some trouble getting my modem that I purchased (which I highly recommend) to deliver their service. I was routed to a CSR named Jim, who was audibly intoxicated. At least I hope he was intoxicated, because his mastery of the English language and syntax was awful. I am not the household member in whose name the Comcast account was (note past tense), so I wasn't paying the subscription fees. If I had been, I would have dropped Comcast years previously. The household member who had the account is not a native English speaker, so usually I was the one to call Comcast "customer service" (for want of a better description). It was a litany of service crashing, being put on hold for long periods of time, twice having the reps hang up on me when it became clear they didn't know what they were doing, my having to get back in to the phone queue all over again, Comcast scheduling appointments for a day and time window, with the tech not showing up at all or showing up on the wrong day or in the wrong time window, arriving without knowing what the problem was and not having the equipment to correct the problem--I could go on and on. The household member recently dropped Comcast as a provider. When I go online, I find comments from more and more people who have found ways to avoid subscribing to cable altogether. I think this is great for now, but you watch. Comcast and Verizon, if they see a noticeable drop in subscriber numbers, will buy up these alternatives, and we'll see the same abuses there--crummy product, crummy service, crummy customer service, billing problems not resolved, and price-gouging. Comcast is great when it comes to in home WiFi Internet. Supper fast and reliable. but I don't like how the free Xfinity Wifi out in the community is. It is hard to find them and when you do sometimes you can't get on it. And other times it was just disconnect you from it try to get on it. Horrible. Technician never came and never called for installation appointment (a Friday). We waited all day, and we never got our internet access or phone lines set up. Entire company could not get calls or work. Technician finally came on the next Tuesday, and he was full of attitude; he acted like we were the ones that dropped the ball. Never an explanation or excuse for the no-show. He tried to say it was a "site survey", but the paperwork clearly said installation. He didn't put up a fight on that, as it was such obvious BS. He even said that he was used to people being annoyed with him, and it didn't bother him -- it was "part of his job". When he got to work, his work order was all wrong. He didn't have the correct number of static IPs, and nothing about our TV service. He refused to install the TV service, because "it was not on his work order". When we showed our service agreement, he then explained that he actually didn't the TV equipment on his truck anyway. After all that, we finally got the promised services. But now we got our first bill, and nothing other than our address is correct. They are charging us for more phone lines than we have, a higher rate for the TV and internet access, and $200 more for installation than in our agreement. In short, a total mess. Stay away, or be ready to fight them at each and every step to delivery what they "promise".
