Maybe that was a little harsh, but when they announced they would host this market I assumed it would be similar in size to Morristown's, or at least Denville's, but it was very small, just a handful of vendors. The vendors here are fine, I don't want to make them out to be bad or anything, in fact some are the same as the other two local markets, but there just aren't enough of them. The produce is delicious, i really just prefer more of a choice and some variation. I will say that it was nice having the fresh produce available on a Friday...you know, for that end of week BBQ that I have come to love! I don't know yet if they are hosting another Farmer's Market this year-haven't seen an announcement, but if they do I hope they kick it up a notch.

Open Thursday afternoons 1-6, which is pretty convenient because by then we've run out of local peaches and other goodies from the previous weekend markets! Season is June - October. Parking is easy on the streets nearby too. I get the sense that Madison struggles to accommodate this market because every year it's in a different place. One year it was on Waverly, then it was banished for a year to the grounds of the old Bayley-Ellard school, and now it's back in town on one very small block of Green Village Road, right outside the Museum of Tradecraft.

The Denville market is a bit smaller than the Morristown one, but they still have great vendors a number of which are not over at Morristown. This…read morefarmers market is full of fresh produce from many local New Jersey Farms and also has a variety of different vendors selling their wares. So anyway, I made it my business to buy as much produce as I can use in a week from as many different vendors as I could possibly purchase from. And I even splurged on some excellent looking Bison New York strips and some Mexican style Pork chorizo from a local cattle farmer. Which I quickly took home and threw on the grill with some of the vegetables that I purchased. They made for a wonderful Saturday evening dinner and paired perfectly with a bottle of wine that I had. Yummy! I love food & wine!! As for the overall variety of vendors at the market I only have one little complaint. And that is, I wish the market would have had some local cheese vendors and more baked goods like fresh breads. That would have made it the ideal experience for me. But nevertheless, I found myself having a joyful time being lost in all of the available selections of produce. Anyway, I will definitely be coming back to the Montclair Farmers Market as often as I can and you should too! We come down to this area because there are many cultural events, food, and a great candy shop…read morewe've fallen in love with. My kids go to an arts school with an advanced program nearby. But this little farmers market is not really much to speak of. The one farm that seemed to have fresh produce had awful tasting pastries and very little produce to speak of for outrageous prices. The food trucks were nothing special. They were exceptionally overpriced. This area is slowly getting gentrified but you still have pockets of people who can barely afford to buy their normal groceries, yet the town thinks its ok to have food trucks selling $16 lobster rolls that are barely 4-5 inches long...The seller at the truck said I was the only person to buy one the entire day...I found nothing to showcase the neighborhood...nothing Caribbean. Nothing Creole. Nothing with pulled pork, no ceviche, no conch fritters. There was only one woman who had juices present and some baked goods for a decent price. The music aspect is the best part but is only for the last half hour. The rest of the booths were random institutions or banks that had nearly as much business of being at a fresh/farmers market event as you'd imagine. Meh, I'll just stick to the events in the city that make more sense. It supposedly occurs on Tuesdays throughout the Summer.
