The problem I have with my second visit on 7/22/26 involved the front/billing desk. I go to reschedule for my 3 month cleaning and the lady told me will you also schedule for a cavity filling? For tooth 29 or something like that. I said "excuse me?" Cavity? What cavity? Because the last time I was here which was my first time at that office the technician Lili who cleaned my teeth thoroughly told me "she didn't find any cavities" and Dr. Freytes the DMD looked and examined inside my mouth and said the same thing and only mentioned to me about the second deep cleaning and Invisalign recommendation the next time I come back. Nothing about cavity filling. That's what I told the lady at the front desk. She told me she is going "by the system and treatment plan on my file". I'm like ok, well the actual dentist who looked inside my mouth said she didn't see anything and she would have told me right then and there I need to come back and schedule for a cavity filling. Professional dentists would not neglect to tell their patient about that. And I said to the dark-haired lady wearing eyeglasses "I'm sorry but who am I believing here? You, or the dentist who looked inside my mouth?" She couldn't come up with an answer and the other lady had to chime in saying they're going by the system and apologized for any inconvenience or misunderstanding. I'm like well they didn't tell me that and I'm pretty sure they would have right then and there. She is telling me I should follow-up in two weeks and if they don't hear from me they will contact me. What I find strange and fishy is that Dr. Freytes wasn't in the office today it was the other DMD, and when I mentioned her name those ladies were like oh we will get Dr. Freytes expertise and recommendations. Now you want to get the DMD's expertise? You just told me I had a cavity?" The other patients sitting in the waiting room were staring and listening closely because I believe these billing ladies were trying to add on an additional service/charge or overcharge me. I really hope this isn't the case because I don't want to have to change dentists if it's due to the billing specialists at this office.

Yesterday I had two teeth extracted by Dr. David Winer. This periodontist has magic hands. I went…read moreinto the procedure apprehensive about pain and outcome. Dr. Winer explained everything that he was going to do. After the Novacaine and being numbed, he proceeded to take out the two bad teeth. There was very little blood and absolutely no pain. Today I woke up and after following his instructions, I had no swelling and very little pain. I would highly recommend using Dr. Winer for your periodontic needs.

The post op instructions left much to be desired for clarity and feasibility. The assistant had to make SIX molds for the bridge before she got it right. It took way too long. Yes, their mind is on the dollar the whole time - it is so obvious. Other than that, you might think they are actually nice. I would recommend them for dental hygiene (and it will cost you a small fortune) but not for dentistry - the rest of your net worth .

Unfortunately, they did not accept my insurance so I went to see another dentist that accepted my insurance and was uncomfortable from the start. I just wanted a long overdue cleaning, xrays, and exam. The other dentist looked at my mouth for 15 seconds with the mirror thingy and told me I needed a deep cleaning. OK, I didn't know what that entailed or the cost. The hygienist said she would need to check her schedule to see if she had time to do the "deep cleaning". She returned 5 minutes later but didn't tell me about availability just my out of pocket cost with insurance... $500 BUCKS! No thanks... I ran! Knowing Dr. Ernst has been a dentist for 30+ years and that several people I personally know rave about him, I scheduled an appointment- screw my insurance and that other doctor! He was shocked to hear about my experience especially since you can't determine if you need a deep cleaning (scaling) without x-rays and measurements. His office is in a small strip mall in Tamarac. Walking in, I noticed the wallpaper but if you look past the dated aesthetics you see several awards that adorned the walls and Dr. Ernst's community involvement. I love philanthropy! His staff, which also consists of his wife greeted me with open arms. His grandson also happened to be in the office. It's truly a family affair! Cindy, the dental assistant took my x-rays and explained everything to me. I was calm and comfortable despite my anxiety. Dr. Ernst reviewed my x-rays, examined, and took measurements. He was extremely thorough. I also saw Lisa the hygienist afterwards for my cleaning. She was very gentle and also very thorough. I have a few issues with my teeth including a loose filling. I was given prices and told that I could schedule all at once or break up the different procedures to make it easier on my pocket. I wasn't rushed to make a decision and there was no high pressure sales pitch. I appreciate him and his staff. I wish all dentists operated with such integrity. I would not hesitate to recommend him if you're in need of a dentist!
