    Fantail shrimp....raw batter
    Dana R.

We had sandwiches instead of the $40 meal we bought. I usually stick to my couple favorite Chinese places, but I was working in Plainfield and this place had decent reviews and was right up the road. The breading in the shrimp wasn't cooked all the way thru. The boneless spare ribs were hard and dry. The beef in the Four Seasons meal had to have been leftover as it had a hole in one piece like steak teriyaki would. Snap peas looked like it had gone passed its "good by" date. 3 of the 4 breaded shrimp was thrown out. Spare ribs, thrown out. The four seasons meal? Thrown out. Crab Rangoon was thrown out as they were rubbery to chew. They also forgot our white rice for the Four Seasons meal. Anyway, lesson learned for going somewhere other than my usual and $40 down the drain.

Food is okay. Fried rice is extremely dry, almost inedible. Almost choked a few times. The price is good, but will not be coming back.

General Tso chicken very good and they give you reusable "Tupperware". I recommend to people who are not afraid to drive to Canterbury.

I was pleased that it was worth the visit. There is a large interior but they informed me that they only use it for waiting for your take out. They were nice enough to let me eat a few bites while seated. Speaking of, the people here are indeed quite friendly. Food tried: Wonton soup, crab rangoons, chicken fingers, scallion pancakes, boneless ribs, pork fried rice, beef and broccoli, and lemon chicken. The wonton soup, scallion pancakes, fried rice, and beef and broccoli all had good flavor. The fingers and ribs were meaty and cooked just right so they weren't dry or chewy. Unfortunately not all the food was that great. The crab rangoons were just cream cheese wontons. Crispy but no flavor. The lemon chicken had the sauce come separately from the chicken, and when it was delivered I thought it was another soup. That is how watery it was, and the flavor was similarly watery. While the hunt for good crab rangoons continues, the majority of the food, plus the people, makes this a good choice for your American Chinese food desires.

Everything tasted a little cheap and not made correctly, unfortunately we were also missing our crab Rangoon which was a bummer considering the amount of money we paid here. I will have to say the pork fried rice was good

This was obviously not their first rodeo. The expertise paid off as we ordered at 8:47. You know the place closes at nine. But they maintained a great attitude and turned out some excellent food. This is the only place that offers coconut chicken, or shrimp, and it leans very sweet, but if you roll the chicken pieces in pork fried rice then it smoothes it out. I was very impressed with how large the chicken fingers were. I enjoyed the flavor of everything, balanced in the components. I thought the shrimp egg rolls looked great, not greasy, but then they were mostly bland, so the only ding. I have tried their crab rangoons in the past and felt they were no different than sweet cheese wontons, so they're not the solution. Peacock doesn't do delivery, so you'll have to go there. Luckily the people who work there are super friendly every time. This is a total takeout place, also.

I noticed the people working were not the usual owner and his wife. I don't know if the place is under new ownership or if these are employees but the end result were portion sizes approximately 1/2 of what they had previously been. The large spare ribs are $13.95, used to be served in a square take out box that was FULL with ribs. Tonight the box was 1/2 the previous size and contents comparable in size to what a small order used to be. The "large" house lo mein was served in a tiny little box. The only thing that was not 1/2 the size as it used to be were the egg rolls. I hate to slam a local place and my previous reviews of Imperial Palace have always been positive but tonight I was NOT satisfied. What was served was grossly overpriced compared to the portion size of an order a few months ago. I've been a customer since this place opened and I will give them another shot but if tonight is the indication of a new business model, this business is going to fail.....

The low point was the tofu. It was mediocre. I prefer my tofu dipped in cornstarch and fried so it has a little coating and gets crispy in spots, this was plain. The sauce was good, though, not sickly-sweet like other places around. And they actually gave us extra broccoli, which we always order but rarely get. The fried rice and the lo mein were both the best I've had in recent memory. Very flavorful and full of veggies. Even the spring rolls, which I swear every place must get from the same supplier because they're always identical, tasted a bit fresher. Ever since China Moon changed I've been on the hunt for a new regular Chinese takeout spot, and I think this is it. If they added scallion pancakes to the menu and fixed the tofu, I'd give them five stars!
