Thanks to Yelp I found this place and it was only a 12 minute ride. From the exterior I was like hmmmmmmm ok let go. Once inside I was met by the owner Ella and what a sweetheart she knew I was a first timer and after telling her I moved to Utah 5 years ago and missed some good Chinese food she gave me her favorite recommendations. Since I was the only patron at 4:20 on a Monday she sat next to me and told me her story and how to properly pour duck sauce on everything. It was a memorable moment and I can't wait to back next year. The food was so good. The further you go from New England the Chinese food definitely changes and it was perfect. Utah doesn't even know what a pu pu platter is.

Apparently they do a ton of takeout. Service was slow because it was just one person serving and handling the phone / online orders. But one of the managers or owners came out several times to check on us and make sure we had what we needed. The dining room has a decent amount of tables and the decor is really cute. First off, the lunch special is where it's at. I got 4 entrees and 3 soups for $50- and this food will last me and my bf for at LEAST the whole weekend (breakfast/lunch/dinner). Lunch special is only Mon-Sat until 3:30pm so make sure you are timing your order right. Below is what I ordered: -3 maki roll special ($13.95): -2 spicy crab salad roll- This place legit has the best spicy crab salad roll I've ever eaten. This is one of my fav rolls and I always like to order it at other sushi places but other places never hit the same. The roll at Yamato has a slight crunch to it and the crab salad is seasoned and moist. -1 eel avocado roll- hits, pretty hard to mess this one up. -also comes with a side of soup -Teriyaki Yakiniku ($10.95): I always get this. But it wasn't horrible- I still ate it because I like all noodles but prob won't go for this one again. The sides of soup are all good. The miso soup is a basic miso soup. The clear soup I think is just chicken broth? But then also has a few scallions and mushrooms which have obviously been previously dried. I feel like the lunch specials also used to come with a side salad but maybe they changed that? Anyway the salad dressing they give is usually BOMB and I'm sad I didn't get any this time. We ordered takeout and the wait was 30 minutes but there's plenty of things to do around the area while you wait. The staff are all nice, and it's not usually too busy inside. When I went in around 3 there were basically no dine in tables and like two other people picking up takeout. Overall, you have to know which dishes are good or not and if you want the bang for your buck, wait for lunchtime.
