Unreliable service. Always going down and terrible customer service. On June 4th 2021 they upgraded their towers in our area and failed to let us know. When our internet went down we phoned and they told us to restart the router. They didn't mention the upgrade. It was by the third time we phoned them that they told us our equipment (provided by them) needed to be replaced. We are now without internet and at least a week wait for the new installation. They just lost a customer. Stay far away from Xplornet. read more

Service not functional frequently and for a multitude of reasons. Can't work if you need to do any work. Can't use for gaming or entertainment either. Not at all competitive. Was a cell customer with them for two years and when my tab was up, moved on to a provider that offered unlimited. Had a credit left on my account for a month, then got a bill for $160 because I end the contract 2 days early and they say this was the reminder of the tab. Never saw this on the previous bill. Total scam. Assured me I could get LTE 25 on my Island. But I would have to pay an additional $150 for the Island access plus supply the boat. Ok tech arrived and located a good LTE 25 signal but that tower was locked and full. So he located a good 10 signal but guess what that tower locked and full!! Nothing he could do tech support wouldn't help so basically they just rip people off knowing full well they can't supply service. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM. read more

The worst internet provider, there's an outage almost every week, super slow, not worth the price

What an absolute joke of a company. I had been a reliable customer for almost 4 years (no other internet options in the area until now). I called at the end of March to cancel. Loyalty persuaded me to not cancel for two months and they would give it free, just in case I did not like my new provider. Sure, sounds great. I assured that I did not want to pay for any services from the moment forward as I would not be using it. The agent assured me that I would not be charged at the beginning of April. Perfect. End of April I decided to call to cancel. They let me know it would be effective mid May before the new billing cycle so that the credit would still be applied. Cut to the next day and I was charged for a full amount. Curious as to why I called. They explain that it was a "missed payment" from previous month. To clarify, this missed payment is the payment that the agent at the end of March said I would not need to pay. After a lengthy conversation the agent today has said that they apologize but they cannot do another for the lack of miscommunication and misunderstanding of the other agent. In sum, I have now paid for a full month when I only used the service for half of it, and was told I would not need to pay the other half (I.e., I used March 18-30, and attempted to cancel March 30. Convinced to stay on but told I would not need to pay a cent from then onwards. Did not use xplornet March 30-April 18. Still charged full amount with them refusing to refund those days of no use). Besides this not being the environmentally correct thing to do, they are making it my responsibility to climb on the roof and take everything down and dispose of it. I have never left a bad review in my life but here we go. Me and my partner were always so disappointed with xplornet and because we're rural we didn't think we had any other alternatives. Our internet connection was always painfully slow no matter which device we used. We couldn't even watch a movie on netflix. Watching a utube video was just SAD. We ran up 50 GBs of data a month but could never figure out how we used it!!! Now for the last few months we have been with a different internet provider for rural areas and our current company has exceeded our expectations. We now have lightening fast internet for just 50 dollars more than explornet but with seven times more data!!!! Absolute garbage, averaging MAYBE 1 mbps but constantly drops to under 500 kbps, or .5 mbps, ive seen 100 kbps on a regular basis as well, they over sell their towers, as well as throttle your connection 24/7 then when you call to complain they blame it on you and your equipment, ITS NOT OUR FAULT ITS YOUR DAMN FAULT XPLORNET! Not even worthy of one star. Slowest speeds, constant lagging and absolutely terrible customer service. Even when you do finally get someone you can actually understand for once. Pay over twice the amount I've ever had to pay for any internet service and it's worse than old school dial up internet. i hope once the fibre optic companies get their lines run out in the rural areas, Xplornet disappears forever. We used to have Netset Internet and then Xplornet bought them. The VERY day they forced me to switch to their equipment and towers my internet when to hell. Terrible, terrible, terrible. I've called their tech support many times, only once did I get a tech that finally admitted that their towers are overloaded and couldn't handle the number of people on them. Other than that, the techs know all the usual stall tactics: - "You can't really trust speedtest sites because we can't control what is in between us and the speed test site" - while technically true, testing other ISPs are fine. - "You need a new router, yours only supports up to 100 Mbps and the new ones support 1 Gbps" - you asshats, you are only giving me 10 mbps, why the F do I need a gigabit WAN connection. Not to mention you are only delivering 1.5 mbps. Stay away, stay FAR away. read more

When we moved to rural southern Ontario we avoided Xplornet like a stinky hockey bag because we knew they were trash. So we went with the ONLY other option Silo Wireless. Silo wasn't great but they were leaps and bounds better in providing faster internet speeds and decent customer service. But Xplornet has now bought out Silo Wireless thus eliminating the competition and in the process has now throttled our internet connection. Silo wireless was able to provide me with a consistent 10-25 Mbps download and 2.5Mbps upload with unlimited data. Now since the "MERGER" I'm lucky to get 2.5Mpbs Down and 1.0Mbps Upload (Keep in mind I'm still paying the silo wireless prices of $130/month) After being told by customer service at Xplornet that they will continue to provide the same goods/services as silo wireless did......WHAT A CROCK OF SHIT. If we where not so dependent on the internet to perform basic tasks like oh... I dunno internet banking during these times, We would have most certainly canceled or internet services by now! I have to send my children back to school during this pandemic because my internet speeds are unreliable and I would be unable to provide my kids with what they need for their education. DO BETTER BE BETTER Do what your "mission Statement " says in the email you sent out to silo customers you now have more infrastructure more towers there is no rhyme or reason why as a massive company in 2020 that you cannot provide more reliable services. read more

Do not go with them unless you don't have another service provider. Overpriced for terrible service. I am supposed to get 25mb/sec yet my network is nowhere near that. Usually peaks at between 1.5mb/sec - 2.5mb/sec. Yesterday I tried to update my GeForce drivers and was downloading between a whopping 100kb/sec - 250kb/sec. I have had Xplornet LTE 25 for 4 months. Online gaming and latency sensitive work is impossible to do during peak hours, which starts at around 6pm and can go until 2am. Average ping is about 30ms above the average for ADSL when running optimally, during peak hours this will rise up to 16000ms. You will be stuck behind a double NAT. During peak hours I have seen download speeds drop as low as 200kbps. It's quite obvious they overload their towers. The installation company Xplornet uses on PEI is flaky and will ignore your messages. The only reason I have this service is because there is no fibre or cable internet on my road. read more

My parents have used this service for over a decade, and now that they no longer need it, they have to keep FULL SERVICE in order to keep their email addresses. That's $600 a year. Since March 2020 we've had TERRIBLE internet service off and on. We can't use Netflix. Our son can't play Xbox. (Some days he can.) Our son in law works remotely for Amazon Robotics and he can NOT join the zoom meetings. This is affecting his JOB!! When we call they always say they're going to fix it, (they're having issues on their end) they don't send anyone to our house to determine what the problem is, and worst of all, my husband has recorded two of the "customer service" employees saying to basically just quit our service with them, upon him asking them to reduce our payment because we are tired of paying for a service we can not even use! read more

Absolutely terrible after installation. Installation was great. The person doing the install was friendly, helpful and went though everything possible. After that it was terrible. Paying for 25MBPS and getting 500KBPS. Can't even play music or Netflix at that speed. Called customer service and got a kind, too bad. Called customer service again and was told it is a 'peak time' it was 12:30AM. Customer service, trash. Internet speed, consistently trash. Scam artists that try to pretend they're a legitimate business from the top down. They promise a level of service and cost and then jack up the price and at the same time reduce the service offerings. All without any disclosure or signed agreements. They'll use every trick in the book to try and dissuade their customers from seeking proper restitution for any issue and will wear you down with circuitous runarounds to other departments and other staff, redirect and delay responses, respond with boilerplate emails, and offer absolutely no personal accountability. The problem is that for most rural customers, you have no other options. I'd rather increase my data usage on my cell phone and use that as a mobile hot spot instead of giving this "company" another fcukin cent. Not everything is bad about Xplornet, but be very careful offering them your credit card info. Without permission they took money out of my account, closed my internet access so I couldn't delete the card, and have not responded to my emails. My bank has stated "this is highly irregular" and probably illegal. In any case the bank is planning an investigation and I am planning further action. If this is credit card fraud I will be contacting the police. My advice is: DON'T USE A CREDIT CARD with Xplornet. read more
