A friend of mine who tried several different barre classes highly recommended this place so I tried the barre w/yoga on Wednesday nights and absolutely loved it! Elizabeth, the instructor, is really nice and attentive. During the yoga portion of the class she turns off the lights and with her soothing voice I can almost fall asleep. There are so many barre and Pilates studios out there. What makes Xtend barre different from the rest? Xtend barre has wonderful staff, the instructors are amazing and each one is different. All the classes will give you the challenge your body needs to reach your fitness goals. I have been a member here for almost a year and each class I still sweat like crazy and feel challenged each and every time. But I keep coming back, it's become an addiction-you have something new each time you go, this is what creates change in your body. Xtend Barre offers 3 different classes- (1) the traditional barre class the incorporates ballet and Pilates (2) piloxing is lots of cardio and Pilates (3) Xtend barre stick lots of arm and core work. All three compliment each other and give you the strong core, lifted butt, toned arms/thighs, and cardio (which some barre classes don't have) You will never get bored with the variety of classes and instructors. The instructors also make sure you have the right form so it's like having a personal trainer every class. Most of the instructors remember you by name. What great customer service and always adding class times based on client input. The studio also does challenges with incentives! Lululemon addicts - this is the place for you! I have done 3 of their challenges and have earned 2 lululemon outfits of my choice! I had been a member at another barre studio and the prize for their challenge was free 75 min intensive barre class, otherwise you would have to pay $30 even if you were a member. Where's the incentive there? They also have lululemon apparel for sale in the studio which is always so tempting. There must be a reason why lululemon decided to partner with them, the other barre studio told me it was difficult to partner with them. I am so happy I found xtend barre and very thankful for all the wonderful instructors and their motivation. I will continue to be a member and enjoy going to class every time. First class is free! Try it -you have nothing to loose. The membership and class packages are very reasonable compared to the studios out there. Instructor was very sweet but not super challenging -- probably just the level of class I signed up for which was the barre + stretch class. Irritating that they require you to have grip socks for the class although not mentioned anywhere on the ClassPass app. Lady that checked me in said very snobbily that "all barre classes require grip socks" - honey no they don't because I've taken many barre classes both in SF and NYC and definitely not all classes require grip socks. Do your research please. Felt scammed into buying another pair of overpriced $15 socks - no thanks! read more

I'm obsessed. I'm a Southern girl who by nature, does not like to sweat. Being in a class full of fit ladies with the stamina of a herd of gazelles can also be intimidating. But Angie and her staff are so welcoming and encouraging, that any woman who wants to channel her inner ballerina can do so with no shame. But let me tell you - these classes are no cakewalk. You will struggle, you will burn, you will sweat. Your legs and arms will be shaking and begging for mercy. And when it is over, you will inexplicably look forward to the next class. read more

Took my first class tonight and it was a great workout. Totally different than the other classes I take. I purchased a deal through Living Social with an expiration date of December 31st. Because of surgery, I wasn't able to use it. I spoke to Sara, the co-owner, who told me she would honor my deal when I was ready to try it. Post treatments and 7 months after expiration, I was cleared to exercise and she still honored the deal even though she didn't have to. Now that is wonderful customer service! If you want a great full body workout this is the place! I wasn't sure what to expect when I started working out here! I wanted to get back in shape after having my son. I tried one month unlimited on a Groupon. Loved it so much my husband got me a membership! It's a small studio and you should sign up for classes in advance as they do fill up. All the instructors are super friendly and helpful they give you different options for the routine if you are unable to do certain steps due to past injuries or what not. They really allow you to go at a pace that works for your body, which I really like. I have bad knees and can't do all the jumping steps but they always offer alternative moves and never make you feel bad if you aren't advanced in some moves. All routines are different and unquie for every class and instructor. So you never get bored but you always get challenged! It's a fusion of ballet (Barre), yoga, pirates and even some boxing. They really workout the whole body adding cardio, working legs, booty, abs and arms! I love they way Xtend Barre has toned by body. Definitely recommend these workout for anybody! I'm the Duchess! Wohoo... I am for a reason- I love these classes! I was contemplating not writing a review just so I could keep them to myself, but alas I'm a better person than that :-) I've been doing them for a few months now and every time I feel the burn (friggin fire up in here). Shaky legs from muscle fatigue? Check.. Sweating? Check.. Soreness? Ehh sometimes.. You get the picture, you look hot after class (and I'm not talking attractive). I was worried at first because 1) I am not a dancer 2) I am not flexible- I can't even touch my toes. However, you can pick it up fast and even though I still can't touch my toes they modify moves according to your ability. Yes, the classes are pricy- A LOT more than I was paying for my 24 Hour Fitness membership, but I never went to the gym and when I did it was a bunch of "bros" , crazy people (plus they don't have fun classes such as Barre), and dirty equipment (didn't want to contract anything from the nasty machines). These classes are fun, effective, time efficient (without the crazy "Bros" leering), and the studio is bright and clean. Its also like CHEERS, the instructors know my name, if I'm doing something wrong they'll help me correct it (without making me look like a fool), and they know there stuff (and they have the muscles to prove it). I say try it out- I bet you'll like it (and yes, that is what she said). If I had to ask for something else I'd say more variety of music (I've got the workout cds to where I can sing along-but I go often, so most people don't notice it) and perhaps additional weekend times. Otherwise this place is great- and don't forget to reserve your spot (the 5:30 classes can get full sometimes, its a hit or miss). Cheers to a great workout ladies! read more

I started xtending at the Camino Del Sur location back in July of last year and when it closed in November, I was beyond devastated. Even though this location was much farther away from me, I didn't want to stop xtending so my journey continued here. I am so happy to say that the quality of classes are just as great as Camino Del Sur's. The classes are different each time, and I love that each instructor also teaches it differently. Everyone's really great, especially Emma and Amber (I followed her from Camino Del Sur)! I have tried all of the other barre studios out there, but nothing compares to Xtend Barre. Xtend Barre combines both strength and cardio so it is always challenging. Plus, it's also the closest workout to a real ballet class. You learn all the real ballet terminologies like first position, second position, high fifth, low fifth, posse, tondu, etc. I do feel like I come out more graceful like a dancer. :) read more

Amazing! I am new, but I love these classes. I can tell I am getting an amazing work out. The studio is clean, the instructors are great, and everyone is friendly. I am totally comfortable going, and love the way I feel after! They are pricey classes, but this was a much better fit than a basic gym for me. I feel like I am getting a much more specialized program. Try it, you will love it! read more

xtend barre is a great little studio, and i like the main class that they offer. the other classes (such as the stick class) remind me more of the 80s "get in shape girl" tapes than a concentrated workout. the instructors seem to be on the novice side and it is noticeable. if you shop in the studio keep in mind that they only carry sizes 2-6 with some 8s in lululemon. it is a decent workout but for the money i prefer going to a studio i enjoy more. read more

I am visiting relatives in San Diego and wanted to take a few barre classes so that I don't lose the work I've done at home in my barre classes. I absolutely loved this class!! It was the perfect combination of ballet (actual ballet moves), cardio, weight training, and intensity. I will definitely be back the next time I am in town. Thanks! read more

If I could give Xtend Barre 10 stars I would!! I LOVE this place. I am new to working out in general I was diagnosed with an auto immune disease at 24 that sometimes makes movement and balance hard for me but got tired of complaining about my health and mommy tummy and decided to make a change to my life style in general. I was nervous to come to my first class because I had ZERO idea as to what I was doing, I'm sure it showed. Lol I have been to three classes so far and everyone has been so very nice and welcoming! Karlee has been amazing and patient with me. she doesn't make me feel silly even when I know my moves are uncoordinated and all over the place lol she is constantly making sure my form is correct to prevent injury and working the right muscles. Most important I feel amazing when I leave and can't wait for my next class. :) read more
