CJ, Mari, and everyone else on the team were consummate pros from start to finish, and the final result has surpassed our expectations! We did a new permeable walkway and staircase, replacing a poured concrete path and steps that had seen better days. Despite some issues with late payments (I haven't owned a checkbook in probably a decade so was at the mercy of my bank for delivering checks directly), their attention to detail never flagged and when we had concerns about the placement of one part of the project, CJ took the revision in stride - and right in the middle of the holiday season when I know everyone is extra stressed out! We've been so happy with them, they are doing a landscaping overhaul of our front, and we hope to use them for a back patio project in the future. I hired Xtra Care to fix a drainage issue in my back yard, put in a fence and new walk way. I'm leaving this review days before completion because I am so happy with their work. CJ - the project manager, checks in frequently and ensures the work is meeting my expectations - along the way. When I had an issue with the esthetics of the walkway, he came out and we discussed alternatives without affecting the budget. Mari is a dream to work with. We used Xtra Care at the recommendation of our neighbor. First, they did an amazing job with some re-grading/foundation work at my parents house, after - get this - 5 months of warring with their HOA. CJ was ridiculously patient, re-writing estimates over and over to meet their expectations. I contanstly worried he would get annoyed and move on - the HOA had THAT many demands, but he was kind and amazing with that process! When that job finished, we had Xtra care to our house to replace the crumbling wall and steps to our side door. They also installed a permeable paver system. We are SO relieved and confident that we won't have basement flooding ever again. The crew was always on time and careful navigating the tight quarters of our back/side yard. Marcos was great with inspecting the job periodically and answered all our questions. Mari - she is a dream and I hope Xtra care is paying her well! Xtra Landscaping was amazing to work with. I actually contacted them 4 years ago but the project was out of my budget at that point. I spoke to other landscapers, cement companies, etc, but no one was able to match their pricing and level of communication. They had a CAD drawing for me after our first conversation and when I went back 4 years later they had it on file. Everything was easy and smooth. The man who answered said he had recently sold the company to Evan Adeli Delima, 301.525.7702 of Ijamsville. So I called and spoke briefly with Adeli, he took my addresses for the quotes (for me and my mother's property) and said would call back. He never has. Do not use these guys for landscaping. Horrible. The are good for mowing and trimming shrubs. We made a huge, expensive mistake. They showed pretty picture is what yard would look like when done... What they don't tell you is that it will take two or three years for plants and trees to grow to the size shown in photo. I think it will take five or more tlyears. Trees are thin and small compared to photo shown. Total rip off. Kleber is a great sales guy... And they do good job with mowing, but they really did bad job on our landscape project. I am thrilled with out garden oasis. Beautiful and low maintenance. Most important, Kleber fixed our wet basement problem with proper grading (suffered for years even after putting French Drains in the house). Angela's brilliant landscaping design created two seating areas one for dining and another a conversation area. And I also have as well a BBQ area (close to the back door) with seating. They used stones and all is permeable making it eco friendly too. The work crew was excellent and I could see the pride they took to make MY garden perfect. They planted a Crape Myrtle and then paused and unearthed it and moved it perhaps as little as 4-6 inches to make it just right between the low stone area with wild roses. Our garden blooms in the Spring with azaleas, dogwoods, lily, and then the weeping cherry tree blooms in Summer later the hydrangeas and other blooming plantings finally Fall the Japanese anemone are seen around our screen porch and out along the back fence. In addition, the weeping cherry grew quickly and the crape myrtle is blooming again. I am especially pleased with the stone work around the pear trees with the addition of lights Kleber suggested. Mostly it is a garden Xtra Care created for us that is more then just plantings but thoughtful areas we can use. Even when we needed to compromise a bit on our budget they thoughtfully made suggestions to help us achieve our goal of a dream garden. I suggest them to anyone looking for more the a grass cutting service (that's their other crew). Xtra Care is a professional landscaping service with great design options to offer. I have a small yard on Capitol Hill that needed sod, and leveling. They gave me a great price, and advised on the best type of topsoil to use, and recommended a couple of different options to maximized drainage. The team was great, they leveled the area and laid the sod down very quickly. The yard looks wonderful, and is flourishing well before the winter freezes. Very happy! read more

We thought Xtra Care did a tremendous job for us. We obtained about 6 quotes for the installation of a brick paver walkway in front of our house, and Xtra Care was at the low end of all the quotes. Cleber of Xtra Care assisted us, and he was the only quoter to prepare an actual detail diagram of the planned work -- the others just verbally described that they would replace an existing old flagstone walk with pavers. The Xtra Care installers were very professional, and took notable care with the work. While we had originally considered all the quotes high (even Xtra Care's lower quote), when you see the work being done, you realize why this kind of work does carry some expense. We were very, very pleased with the work. We were away for the last day of work, and came back to find every detail addressed. In fact, we had just cleared a small area of the yard near the path, and because my husband had mentioned in passing about our plan to grow grass there, they actually seeded the area for us while we were away! We had the walkway done in anticipation of a sale of our house to add curb appeal, and the walkway has really added a pop to our pictures! I have used xtra care for several seasons and have been generally happy. Recently I have been very unhappy. I came home last fall to find that when they came out to trim bushes they cut down two smaller trees. I called to find out what happened but never heard back. I contacted them again and was told the manager would have to verify the issue. I took pictures of the damage and sent it in. When the manager arrived he had a bit of an attitude. I told him I expected replacement. I was promised LAST FALL that they would be replaced in early Spring. I contacted them again to find out when they would be replaced. I got an email accepting responsibility and agreeing to replace them. I am still waiting. I have called and been told it would be done "this week" but almost MAY 1 and nothing. I called again and am waiting for a call back. Meanwhile, late fall I received a contract to sign for weeding and seeding. I sent back my requested schedule in the self addressed envelope and never heard back! I contacted them asking about the weed and feed schedule. They claim they never got notice back from me. The communication is terrible they never call back. I am expecting my replacement trees but if it doesn't happen I will file a claim in small claims court. I'm fed up! If service isn't improved immediately I will cancel my service with them. I'm not sure what happened but this company has gone down hill fast. Too many other landscaping/lawn companies around for me to put up with this. Avoid them. I gave one star because I'm very unhappy!! read more

After my third time using XtraCare Landscaping, I have found Owner Cleber impossible to negotiate with. He loses his temper and yells at the customer even tho' customer is not yelling at him. I found his estimates to lack any detail as to number of workers, number of hours needed, cost for supplies and so on. Just a title and price. He can inflate his estimates after the work is done and then claim he told the customer at first, which he did not. I wrote down his verbal estimate, altho' he did not. He is very nice if there are no problems or points for discussion. I won't use this company again. read more

Contracted this company for 3+ years for regular lawn care and maintenance. Due to a recent dispute with pricing and quality of work as extremely poor, dirty (driveway was covered with the cut grass remenants), and unkempt (did not even finish the basic mowing area with no reason or explanation; leaving patches of uncut grass), we no longer employ their service and want everyone to understand that customer service satisfaction is NOT a priority with XtraCare. Very disappointed. Upon raising growing concerns to Cleber, he lost his temper, and that ended all good will toward continuing business with this company. If you're going to yell at your customers, then you really need to rethink your business model. His company's lack of responsibility for their fault in lawn care resulted in over $200 dollars of damaged (brown and dying) patches of grass that we had to find another company to fix. read more

Due to timing issues with putting our house on the market, we did not end up using Xtra Care Landscaping. However, they were very timely in their responses to my emails and phone calls (the owner met me at my house to go over the scope of work a day and a half after my initial call to them, which was during non-business hours). They sent me a quote a few hours after our meeting, then very quickly revised the quote when we decided there were a couple things we did not need to do. They originally stated they'd be able to put us on their schedule approximately two weeks after the submitted contract, but when I asked about the possibility of doing it one week, Isabella (I'm assuming she is the office manager/scheduler) said they would schedule us for the following week. This was during their peak busy season. Isabella was wonderful to work with and very polite, professional, and timely with her emails/calls. The owner, who came to look at our yard, was very polite and understood exactly what we wanted done. I wish we'd gotten the opportunity to work with them! read more

I was very disappointed with the work of Xtra Care. Cleber (the owner of the company) assured me that I would be satisfied. Several tasks were incomplete; the work completed was just the bare minimum and consideration was not made to the overall aesthetics of the landscaping project, which I would have expected from a professional company. I called a couple of times to inform Cleber of this. We set up an appointment to meet to discuss the issues and also confirmed the date/time, but Cleber did not show up. I called him to find out what happened and during that conversation, not only did he raise his voice at me, but he also insulted my father and stated that he would not come to finish the work if my father was present on my property. If my father had not been present during the initial work, the crew would have planted 2 trees right in front of each other because according to them, it was not in the contract to remove the existing tree and plant a new one in its place. I would not recommend this landscaping company to anyone. read more
